Hey all I have been testing out the 2x, 3x, and 4x framegen with the pg27aqdp, 4090 and 14600k.

I understand the 4x framegen was engineered to work best from 60 —> 240fps. When I try 4x framegen with 120fps rtss framecap it tends to lower my base framerate to 90-100fps even though in sitting at approx 60-80% gpu and cpu usage after scaling. Similar issue with 3x and 2x framegen with relevant framerate cap. Base framerate drops below the cap without stressing the gpu or gpu.

May be a software limitation on the scaler but I’m really hopeful for the full release.

Are you sure it's not a cpu bottleneck?

#

And, have you tried something that's not very demanding?

Could be if the framegen penalty to cpu is high enough, but ive never seen cpu or gpu usage past 80% after framegen. Definitely not past 90%. Its like the framegen doesn’t want to go past 360-420fps post framegen. This is with the latest framegen software, next ill try it with the older framegen versions and 2x and with an older game i can hit base 480hz. Will report back

Please do 🙂

So the 4x framegen worked perfectly on an older game where i can hit 480fps native. I was able to improve the issue on more modern games by disabling vrr on the monitor and on lossless app. The rtss monitor is showing locked 120 but lossless scaling is reporting 100 base. Not sure what to make of it. Either way awesome app.

Looking closely at the numbers may be gpu limitation?

if thats mw3, im tempted to give it a try as well and see if i get similar results as you

#

although im on a 3080, in some games i can still get stable 120/480

#

maybe it can help us narrow down if its gpu or game related

Yup mw3. The bfi 240hz mode on this monitor plays really well with this game. Though locked 480hz is better

#

*would be better

i did some tinkering with this on mw2019 (mw3 didnt want to open for some reason). natively i push 210-230fps. capped the game to 120 and ran 4x mode with performance and my native frames dipped to 110 while fg frames were at 440

#

doesn't bounce above 110 in 4x mode regardless of what game settings i use

#

could just be weird interaction with the game

#

or maybe cpu limitation? (haven't used intel in ages, not sure how i5's perform)

#

other games let me hit 120/480 consistently tho

Helldivers and final fantasy 14 exhibit the same thing with bouncing of base framerate between 90-110 without full utilization of gpu cpu. This is with VRR on and off. Good idea with the allow tearing option, im going to give that a try

Yeah no that’s just LS straight up failing

I’ve had that before
