#If I cap fps at 46, I get no frame time stutters, but higher does get frame time stutters

144hz G-Sync monitor, 140 fps cap set in global Nvidia settings, and I manually set an fps cap for games with Nvidia program specific settings to 46 (would be higher if it didn't cause what seemed to be frame time stutter)

it could be your global 140 fps cap. you're aiming at 48x3 fps (thats 144), and youre limiting losslessscaling to 140 fps (global cap), so the pacing must be pretty borked out

Also one thing I noticed potentially important - Capping to 46 brings frame generation to 138 fps which is close to my refresh rate, but if I go higher than 46 base then the frame generation actually ends up being lower

either disable global 140 cap, or make an entry for losslessscaling.exe with no fps cap

fading ivy
#

Global cap doesn't matter when I also change it on a per-game specific basis

warm portal
#

it matters if you dont set a per-game specific for losslessscaling.exe

I see the framerate get capped at 46 in the games just fine and there are no issues, but if I try to cap over that then what appears to be frametime issues start

no losslessscaling.exe entry = falls under global settings = 140 fps

you're trying to get ls to 144, but you just capped it to 140

fading ivy
#

I have had that set to global this whole time so you could be onto something, what should I try with that then?

#

I didn't know the LS exe had any impact

#

Games are still fine when capped to 46 fps like I said, it's just when I try to cap over 46

warm portal
#

its fine because 46x3 = 138, thats under 140

fading ivy
#

They should stick that in the info page if so lol, a lot of people use global settings like this

#

Will try now

fading ivy
# warm portal do this 👆

Right, capped game fps to 60 and made framerate for LS in Nvidia Control Panel to unlimited, turned frame generation on in-game, the frametime stutter is still here but maybe not as bad (could be placebo), and just as I noticed before, LS is generating lower frames compared to when I had games capped to 46

#

130 compared to 138

weak gpu

cap your games to 48, its the best you can get

fading ivy
#

If I cap a game to 48 fps, the frametime stutters start

#

There are none at 46

#

A bit peculiar that it starts even just two frames farther, no?

#

Zero frametime stutters at 46, frametime stutters (or what appears to be), start even just at 48 fps

#

It's not my GPU lol

warm portal
#

tried to help. it works for me 🤷‍♂️

#

Starting to think this is just something to do with G-sync

#

Monitor related, at the least

warm portal
#

elden ring, btw. 0 stutters.

that screen says: i can play elden ring at the same fps as my monitor hz and i get 0 stutters. thats all.

#

Are you on a g-sync monitor?

#

I know LS is somewhat incompatible with them, at the very least not fully compatible
