I have a feeling this feedback might not be received super well, but I wanted to at least drop it somewhere. I’ve been hearing that there are plans to get rid of the MMR leaderboard, and I just wanted to say that I really like the MMR leaderboard. It has been so fun to grind everyday watching placement go up and down, giving each gaming session a purpose. I generally tend to gravitate towards games that have some sort of ranked or leaderboard (which is part of why I haven’t been a big asym guy in the past) and part of why I have been so hooked on this game apart from it just being incredible is that I have been able to visually see myself getting better based on how my number goes up. It’s also so incredibly rewarding to beat someone who you know is higher up than you are. I know it doesn’t mean anything, and in its current state it’s not the best measurement of skill, but just like the game is in alpha, I hoped that the leaderboard was also in alpha and would be reworked with time. I also know that especially right now, the leaderboard isn’t even accurate as many players who would be up there had their MMR reset to be mentors. If this has already been decided and I’m just wasting my breath, it is what it is. But I wanted to at least provide some feedback that there are people playing the game who don’t want to see it removed and would love to see a reworked version in the future.
#MMR and Leaderboard Feedback

I think both leaderboards are pointless tbh
It creates a more competitive element I feel
DBD has no leaderboard and its the most competitive asym out there.
So getting rid of the leaderboard wont prevent people from doing winstreaks/escape streaks or being competitive in any form.
Correct dbd is but not by bhvr's design
exactly my point people will make this game competitive if they want to, having a leaderboard has no effect on it.
So why then even having a Leaderbord i wonder
cuz people like to compare themselves to others
they like to grind for mmr its part of the appeal
Tell me another Asymm which isn't almost dead :>
.
But yeah your right people still will be competitive, but i personally think the Leaderboard still creates more competitve element like Aether said. Me personally also don't like Leaderboards because yeah, some people will be hurt by Leaderboard comparison, because it can also lead to not healthy self-criticism and stuff.
But also Edge is really right when they say in the current state its not the best measurement, because the MMR is just super strange at the moment and will be reworked soon (at least people said it will be reworked)
There is going to be "ranks" which they teased some time ago. But with the amount of people just dodging a lobby or searching how good a player is. Not to mention the conflicts it sometimes creates. It's not really necessary for now atleast until they made the ranks
"Give me another game where this and that happened besides DBD" is not an argument.
"some people will be hurt by comparison"????? dont look at the leaderboard/dont play with people that want to win every game.
using feelings to solve a problem will lead to no solution
It wasn't an argument from me but it was from you that DbD ist most competetive Asymm game ;) i just asked for another Asymm. You can't use it as your argument and then say "thats no argument" instead of answering my question, lmao.
And sure you could say "if people have problems with that thats their problem" and me as person who never rage etc in games also dont know why they are like this but they just humans 🤷.
I think the "using feelings so solve a problem..."-Argument also not so good because people will get frustrated maybe, and then people will quit, rage, or being toxic :) and no one want toxic people or do you want them? Also you just want to have the Leaderboard because of YOUR feelings no? Because YOU feeling says "omg yes i made progress" or "omg yes i beat up Number whatever on the Leaderboard" .. ;)
"dont play with people that want to win every game" or "just dont look at the leaderboard" is a simple solution yes but 1. people still will look on it (maybe of no self discipline maybe because they just want, maybe because of blabla" and 2 everyone has other opininon if a game is a win or not 🤷 but i think most people play games to "win" or to "kill xyz amount" as Magician or to escape as Bunny.
I think it’s fair to say that the game is going to be competitive no matter what. Like if you’re good enough to be at a high MMR, even with the system that’s set up right now, a lot of the time you’re not gonna face people that are just trying to have a fun time. And that SHOULD be a thing, MMR is inherently a good thing despite how some people feel about it because it matches people against people who in general want the same thing out of a match.
I do hear your argument that leaderboards can have negative consequences for people that struggle with comparison and that’s valid. However, in my opinion those people are still gonna compare themselves to others via twitch streams or YouTubers or comments made by people in discord. The leaderboard makes it easier to do, but it isn’t the only source for it. In fact, I would argue that having a leaderboard actually helps because it makes the people that actually care try harder, making it less likely that they run into people that might not take the game as seriously, resulting in less reminders to compare themselves. I can’t speak for everyone obviously but the times I am most likely to negatively compare myself to others isn’t actually looking at a leaderboard, but is instead during games where I get absolutely rolled or destroyed.
Now to Kleckser’s point, if there are ranks of some kind and they set it up based on skill, by all means I’m willing to wait to see how it plays out because that could be fantastic. But I would argue that the argument of “it’s not necessary right now” is invalid because it’s important to test everything out ahead of time so that when the game releases we have a better, more tested and revised system.
All you did was saying DBD is competitive now give me another competitive asym fine with me: TCM people were testing the quickest routes to get out even in the beta states and Evil Dead The Game specific compositions of character where just superior to others same with Evolve. I played those 3 games myself and in everyone of them people were looking for meta builds/meta compositions/meta routes to escape just like in DBD the only difference they didnt last that long, guess what they all had in common "no leaderboard".
Take MMR or any kind of ranking system out of this game and watch the good killers destroy every random bunny lobby and every 5 stack roll over noob killers and than tell me people dont get frustrated and quit the game. 😄
Everything that edge said i agree with 100%.
I like the leaderboard as I am also a fan of grinding through the "ranks" and seeing how high I can get and having a top 100 makes me want to get better at the game. If MMR was removed as a whole I don't think I would care as much about doing my best and making it as competitive as it can be. I feel that if people don't care about MMR they will ignore it in and have fun. Those who want to compare their skills to more skillful players like to see who is on the leaderboard, it makes the game feel more engaging to beat that higher MMR bunny/magi. Others will say the leaderboard doesn't mean more skilled but I disagree.
I also want leaderboards to stay. Preferably separate ones for bunny and mag.
As soon as a game has MMR it's going to be a competitive game as that's the point if MMR. So having leaderboards or not is not going to change that.
I have never heard of people feeling bad about themselves when comparing themselves to a leaderboard. So imo that's not a good reason to not have them either
I really like the Fall guys Ranked knockout, its very similar to Valorant, but you have different rewards at the end of each season, so even if you pay nothing, you still get exclusive outfits and bonus for being good, there is no leaderboard, but there is a ranking system
and Fall guys is a very casual game, still I loved it
related to the topic, I totally agree that having something to grind is really nice and motivates, but also agree with others that leaderboard may not be the good solution which will create other problems, so if we are going to still have some "MMR", they still can relate to a ranked system which can relate to special rewards per season, so just a suggestion.
imo keep the leaderboard, its what dbd SHOULD have
Keep the leaderboard or a ranking system of some kind. Matchmaking does work even if it's invisible, but it's better when it is visible imo. Same reasons as stated above.
