Hello, could anyone please help me with changing my rocket a little.
I have centre of mass problems but I’m not sure what to add to fix them.
Thanks!

@inland echo

inland echo
#

and you just launch it like thiss?

#

add a fairing

#

the front of your rocket has a ton of drag

#

also remove the top most find

#

find

#

fins

#

or just move them near the bottom

gusty kettle
#

The main problem seems to be when I detach the two side boosters, and lean it too far.

I think it’s because the weight is too far down

#

I was only adding them to try and shift mass higher

gusty kettle
#

Why would that tip over?

inland echo
#

add a fairing

gusty kettle
inland echo
#

you have wayy more drag on the top than on the bottom

#

so it flips

#

put a lot of fins on the bottom

#

like idk 4x av r8

gusty kettle
#

Ahh ok

inland echo
#

and try to make the top as aerodynamic as possible

gusty kettle
#

Where are fairings unlocked?

inland echo
#

check your tech tree

gusty kettle
#

I’m struggling to get like 15 science right now xD.
First one is at 300

inland echo
#

if you unlock fairings dont worry about center of mass

#

remove the radiators and anything unnecessary

#

i would remove all rcs

#

like mono propellant and

gusty kettle
#

Batteries?

inland echo
#

rcs ports

inland echo
gusty kettle
#

Just low moon orbit

#

And then back

inland echo
#

and remove the fins near the top

gusty kettle
#

I don’t have solar panels either xD

inland echo
#

2x z100 will be enough

gusty kettle
#

No, they’re a little expensive

inland echo
gusty kettle
#

Science

#

I’m doing science mode atm

inland echo
#

ok

#

yeah

gusty kettle
#

is this better?

inland echo
#

you can do evas?

gusty kettle
#

Yeah

inland echo
#

so you should redesign basically the whole rocket ngl

gusty kettle
#

Oh damn that’s sad.
I thought it was cool

#

What’s the problem with it?

inland echo
#

it widens very quick

gusty kettle
#

Alright fair enough xD

inland echo
#

i dont even think you need 2.5 meter parts

#

so

#

you should put

#

your capsule + parachutes + heatshield

#

then add a decoupler

#

then put your science stuff and your orbiter engine

gusty kettle
#

And that’s it?

inland echo
#

then another decoupler

#

and your main booster

#

right now your rocket comes down with everything afaict

#

you should only bring down the capsule with a heat shield

#

can you send a screenshot of your tech tree

gusty kettle
#

Sure

inland echo
gusty kettle
inland echo
#

its aerodynamics and stability

#

those ones

gusty kettle
#

There isn’t one called aerodynamic

inland echo
gusty kettle
gusty kettle
# inland echo yeah

Also, if my science stuff is on my final rocket, how do I get it back to kerbin?

inland echo
#

if you go on eva

#

you can collect data

#

meaning you bring the science back into the capsule

#

it also means you can run your barometer and thermometer more than once

#

but mystery goo and science jr requires a scientist on eva to reset

So ideally you want the centre of mass to be higher than the centre of pressure

This means long, thin rockets are generally better than short, girthy rockets

#

What id do here is ditch the 2.5 m parts, make the booster stage a longer 1.25 m state and add more of the Soyuz style boosters, maybe four

gusty kettle
gusty kettle
#

@topaz pasture I’m not sure I have any of those parts

#

Also how do you see the length of them?
