I'm sure this is an issue many people have experienced, but I haven't seen a solution. Essentially when you search something in the VAB it causes the game to freeze for prolonged amounts of time, this only happens with a lot of part mods, and I'm fairly sure its because the game is trying to find what you searched for out of 1000s of parts all at the same time. Theres definitely an optimization that could fix this, I'm just wondering if anyone's done so.

currecntly yes.
i beleive the next community fixes update wiill do that the seach only starts when you hit enter, and not after typing the first letter

Yeah I did notice the main issue seems to be it trys searching for one letter and therefore it has to show everything in the entire game
Though still I think theres some core optimization issues with how that search is working

Install “QuickSearch”, and in its options (click it in the VAB toolbar) enable hit enter before search.
It will take some time (like 10-15 seconds) the first time you search something in the vab as it indexes everything, but after that you’ll have no game freezing on you from searches
