#Rocket won't turn

For some reason it's impossible for my rocket to turn after I launch. I've added wings. I limited the thrust, it just goes straight up and it doesn't respond to any inputs whatsoever.

What causes this?

Are you on precise control mode?

How do I see that?

Bottom left, if the arrows on your "Pitch roll, yaw" thing are blue then you have it on. Just press caps lock to turn it off

No I'm not, my rocket is just incapable of turning it's bizarre

I haven't unlocked those yet

#

I'm just trying to get into orbit to get some science points but out of nowhere my rocket can't turn at all

This makes no sense at all

#

I got a simple rocket with two hammer solid fuel boosters and a terrier for space

#

Basically what they have you build in the tutorial

#

And it simply won't turn at all

if all else fails, you can get some science points for reaction wheels by going straight up high enough (i think).

the mk 1 has some in built reaction wheels

#

command pod

#

or, you can unlock areo surfaces, but they become useless after 700000 m

make sure your engines have gimbal

#

most basic srbs dont have any gimbal

#

like hammer doesnt have gimbal

#

you also want wing/control surfaces that can turn, and not just the static ones

#

although you could theoretically put the rocket slightly angled on the launch mount so it goes into orbit by it self, but that is very precise

if u get to like 700000 meters that's just stacks of boosters upon boosters.

Adding wings and limiting the thrust won't solve it.

#

Adding wings (that can't turn or actuate) can actually cause the rocket to be more stable and thus harder to turn.

#

Limiting the thrust is like putting a bandaid on someone's forehead when they're having a stroke.

#

Decreases the launch vehicle's performance while also causing any gimbaling engines to not have as much control.

#

The only benefit is that your acceleration is slowed down, but that is temporary and irrelevant when you're trying to reach orbital velocity.

#

In conclusion...
-Add control surfaces onto your launch vehicle, preferably on the bottom
-Use engines with gimbaling on them.
-Position the command pod as high up as possible in order to increase the authority of its reaction wheels
-Assuming you have a very good twr, start your gravity turn early
