the new maneuver planner accounts for your mass throughout the burn, it is easier to do, you are just doing it wrong, instead of doing an impulsive burn like in ksp1 where we start burning half of the burn time before the maneuver we start burning exactly at the maneuver node, and the red line extending from your maneuver trajectory is the duration of your orbit youll be burning for
#Why are manuver nodes placed at the start of the burn instead of in the middle of one?

yeah exactly thats why its bad
?
its objectively easier to plan burns with the new planner
precision nodes will be coming eventually™️ for better fine tuning but this method of maneuver node planning is easier for new players and more accurate
if you want to do subtraction and division for your maneuvers play ksp 1
I'm curious where the the math is. The count down timer does this for you. The nodes mechanics from a UI standpoint are similar.
You click and drag. I am looking at the KSP1 maneuver I just plotted and really trying to find some math to do.
The only thing that could make the current system better would be the ability to set the direction of the burn tangent to a point in the orbit and keep that heading even if you move the node to start the burn earlier.
