My second reentry into Kerbin I swear the atmosphere didn't slow me down at all. I came in steep and was going through the atmosphere for so long and kept going 2k m/s until I splashed down (safely lol)
Yeah it works weirdly, the re-entry effect lights up from nowhere at ~30 km. In KSP1 it increased more gradually.
Same here. Apart from the strange looking effect: my parachute broke at 1000m and I splashed into the water at a good 1200m/s. And survived.
I came in steep from the mun with PE of like 44000 and a AP like 440.000 and it took 5 passes through the atmosphere to capture and land
also, parts used to glow red when they got hot, now they don't and the plasma just seems to switch on once you're in the right height range.
