Alright, this may already be planned, but I just wanted to add my thought. I know clouds and such are planned to be added, but I think this will really help the immersion.
Basic
You can completely ignore the events when they happen, with a prompt appearing from
saying something like, "Rain has been spotted nearby, heading towards the KSC! You have [blank] hours to launch, or timeskip to [blank] time."
You can actively see clouds roll past, and without an upgraded radar dish, you can only have alerts about weather when it's a few miles away from you.
You can still launch craft when a weather event is taking place, and depending on the event, gain more science (if you'd like to take the risk). You can also have quests when a weather event is taking place somewhere in the world to go inside the storm, for example, "A hurricane is building near the water, launch a craft to get science from it!" To earn money or such.
You can go into the science tree and upgrade your protection against storms and such, like Wind Protection 1 or Thunder Guard 2 to negate/lighten the affects.
Weather on Easy-Normal would just be graphical, with no affect being made. (You can also customize how many weather events occur/how much they affect your craft
On hard/rocket scientist mode, however, the weather would have these affects.
Clear: Like the weather we have now, barely any clouds.
Darker clouds would start to develop with some fog as well.
Rain: Light to Heavy rain pours over your launch zone, winds may rock your craft or in light crafts, slow them. Barely noticeable.
Thunderstorm: Lightning shakes your craft, flashes of electricity bolting through the sky, heavy rains and wind shaking your craft to your core. Previous affects from rain apply, except more exaggerated. Lightning may hit your craft, your HUD shaking as you may lose some control for a few seconds, along with your electrical power being lost for a few (maybe around 30 EC lost.)

gonna have to make a part two lol
Kerbin/Other Planetary Weather
Part 2
Hail: Not all that bad, occurs during a thunderstorm (5% chance or so) and may break small parts that are on the outside of your craft.
Heavy Winds: Mostly affects spaceplanes, making them slower and move in different directions.
Hurricane: Heavy winds throw your craft around in different directions, thunder jolting your craft as rain and possible hail (10% chance this time) slam against your craft. Thick fog will make anything a few hundred feet in front of you unable to see, you'll have to rely on your HUD.
Dust Storm: Mostly happens in the desert area, with dust picking up and blocking your visuals and any solar panels.
Dust Devils: 10% chance to occur during a dust storm, purely graphical.
Special Features
Icing: Your craft slows, ice forming on the wingtips or tip of your craft when flying through a storm. Slows your craft's ability to move quickly, and you'll need to exit the storm for some time (a few seconds) to de-ice.
W.E.A.T.H.E.R. HUD: Basically, just like the atmosphere HUD, and right next to it. Shows how deep your craft is into a storm, and how close you are to getting out.
Moar Science: With stoms, heading into one and using a science part will earn you moar science. This will scale depending on how deep inside a storm you are (W.E.A.T.H.E.R. HUD). Weather on other planets earn more science than on Kerbin.
Planetary Weather
Duna: Dust Storms are common (like we have seen on our mars) along with Dust Devils (high chance to see)
Jool: Basically a huge hurricane, would add to the atmosphere (pun intended) as you will eventually get crushed, the rocking winds and huge lightning strikes would just add to the graphical scene.
Eve: Lots of rain, along with lightning strikes to add to Eve. The towering clouds hold both of these events.
Laythe: Tons of rain, along with wind that soars across the sea.
Tell me any additions/anything you want to criticize, they probably won't add all of this, but fun to think about.
Scanning/weather science
this would also include volumetric clouds cuz.. why not?
yes
kerbal weather prediction
Pretty sure we already have volumetric clouds on Kerbin 😁
And I agree with you 100%, weather events would be awesome! (||There are already rain and wind sounds in the game's files so maybe one day|| 👀 )
why don't we get the game working first?
it kinda already is?
that'll be pretty sick! i was just watching some ksp 1 volumetric cloud modded videos, so i just got inspired by it lol
Woah, I usually don't see clouds like this. It was way thinner when I played mostly during patch 0 and 1. Did they make clouds have more volume after that?
thats what i was thinking, even know clouds still look a bit thin. might be better graphics or a teaser
where is that screenshot from?
either his own screenshot or from a teaser (which i wouldnt know where from)
same here now that i look at it
now i gotta test this out lol
clouds still look thin for me
might be a perspective thing
I ahve visual issues with them
but apparently from the Kristina AMA they are working on an imrpovement
i see
Yeah that's my own screenshot, the clouds are very pretty in the zones where they are very dense like here. But yeah when coverage is lighter they look more underwhelming
ah, makes some sense. everytime i tried to check it out the clouds were so scattered and looked bad.
