315 m/s is about 1134 km/h, could be your problem isn't so much mass as it's drag
You're flying at about 2246m, which is just 7368 feet altitude, that means you have a lot of air to push against at that speed
when i go higher it just goes slower
i added more air intakes and it seemed to help about it fly to around 330 m/s but i cant really go faster
I'm convinced there is a drag bug in game, which noone reported yet. That cargo bay simply just not shielding, i get the same thing, can't get past the speed of sound. You can only go faster if you ascend over 10.000m, so there is less air. But even getting there wasts a lot of fuel, and it's annoying.
It's hard to spot or catch it because they have taken the tools to measure drag now......But i get the same thing. Try out the Mk3 plane cargo bay, i managed to build pretty good cargo plane. This circular cargo bay is bad
I don't even know how to report this. "Plane goes slow boo hoo"
It doesn't need more engines, SSTOs can easily get into space with a starting TWR of 0.6 (In ksp1 )
try putting nose cones in the inside. this is the only way this plane can go past 300 m/s, proving my point that the cargo bay is not shielding
and i only used 4 rapier engine. it only has 0.425 TWR
i ended up making it work i changed alot about it and it works now
it was the wign design i think but idk
Does it work when you remove the rocket from inside?
