#I am afraid of this game's future

0.1.4.0 or 0.2.0.0 will save us (hopefully lol)
I'm nervous too and I have a hard time being patient with the update timing/roadmap. I have to remind myself it's an early access game and it's going to take time but I don't think they'll ever fail. KSP left some big shoes to fill and the devs realize this and I can tell they want to do the sequel proper for us fans
that feels like a pretty shortsighted point of view
It's kinda like looking at a building foundation, seeing only an elevator shaft up after a week and going
"There's so little here, idk if we'll be able to finish the building"
It will take time, and until the building is done it's gonna look like doo doo
But when that final glass panel goes in, it's gonna be a sight to behold hopefully
I hate to say it but I share your worries.
I watched that first trailer in the fall of my freshmen year of high school. I’m about to be a freshman in college…. And the original game is still a better product (with and without mods). I don’t want to bash KSP 2. But I feel like something went terribly wrong in the production of this game, and that it’s possible it won’t recover.
I’m not blaming the devs who put there heart and soul into this game.
It’s not their fault. Quite frankly I don’t know if it’s anyone’s fault.
I just know that a lot of people feel let down, and I think the least that could be done would be to show some live gameplay footage of what’s coming. Get everyone hyped
I agree with you about the gameplay footage, but I do think it will recover- @visual ferry (sorry for the ping) is right about the elevator analogy I think...
It has a strong potential. It just needs time.
I hope so. Like don’t get me wrong. I’m begging this game to pull up out of the nose dive it’s in.
I just. I want it to work out.
Yh i understand. I feel the same
Well, turns out intercept has a history of releasing half-assed games and then abandoning them so...
same bruv
Oh what other games have they worked on?
none, intercept games is made specifically for the development of ksp2
Thats literally a conspiracy theory lol
Like lmao stop watching Yakez or whomever gave you that information
shush i want them to answer the question :\
yeah haha
No they don't. Intercept is not only working for Take2 but they are Take2. There is no "abandoning". Take2 has no such history.
Red Dead Online xd
What even are you saying they didn't even make that
They technically have the same parent company but they have never had contact with rockstar games
If you honestly believe Take Two Interactive has no effect on Rockstar's games then you ought to take another look at the current state of Rockstar's games. Take Two Interactive care only about the money flow, re-releasing the same game years later at a significantly marked up price, the CEO of Take Two literally endorsed this anti-consumer practice on Rockstar's behalf.** It's all very anti-consumer.** I'm glad KSP2 has much more autonomy in this respect, but those corporate hands are still clearly present.
Also, Take Two Interactive "don't make anything" they own the companies that make games and they oversee those companies based on their sales portfolio and expectations. Almost every single video game under Take Two's umbrella received unnecessary launchers because having a launcher is an extra avenue to advertise their products.
It seems like you wont accept your own misconceptions and frankly im tired about calling people out for being blatantly wrong on this server. Does anyone else want to talk to this person?
I do! what is he saying
oh my god this is a feedback thing
uhm so KSP2 is fully funded to 1.0 so I don't even know why this is a discussion at this point
no way... actually?
that's really good news
Stated in an earlier Friday post. Discussion now just boils down to "I don't believe the Devs" and "you're a terrible person because you don't believe the devs"
Well I mean, it's called a financial commitment. Imagine how bad it would look if they shelved a product after launching it. There would also be many, many legal implications of doing such a thing. This is why Take-Two Interactive endorses doing the bare minimum in what they deem as less lucrative projects, I'm not going to go into detail because it seems unnecessary to go off-topic about games this Discord is not about. The discussion about Take-Two however, seems very relevant.
I'm a huge fan of KSP, but I'm also a realist, I call it for what it is and I can't wait for when KSP2 reaches it's potential, probably a good few years away though.** Also, I didn't say there was any issues with KSP2's funding**, what I'm saying is that it's a clear unambiguous practice for Take-Two Interactive to actively involve themselves with their subsidiary video game companies, thus leading to anti-consumer practices seeping in. Actively being involved is not always a bad thing but in this case, it is.
Blatantly wrong? https://gamerant.com/take-two-ceo-red-dead-redemption-switch-price-comment/ I don't know if you've been stuck on Minmus for too long, but this has been quite a large topic in the gaming sphere for the past few days.
creating a new game studio as the old one didn't do the job doesn't seem like bare minimum to me
but yeah, I am also waiting patiently for the game to reach the roadmap goals
I did not imply that is what they did for KSP2, lol.
my adivce, let them cook
The game had 3 patches since release, 0.1.0.0 was a disaster, 0.1.1.0 and 0.1.2.0 showed nice improvements and now we're in 0.1.3.0 and I think its quite playable. Not that there aren't any bugs no no no no no, but if I were to list all the bugs and categorize them with their "game breakingness" 5-4% of all the bugs would be those. I can argue for 3%. While those bugs are absolutely frustrating and annoying, I don't even encounter them as much.
The rest of the bugs that have less "game breakingness" are usually tolerable and manageable and just inconvenient.
What I'm trying to say is that with every patch, the game doesn't just get a little fixed, it's like recovering from stage 4 cancer but then leaving with blindness. Then in the next patch they cure that blindness and leave the game with a fever. They solve a heck ton of problems with each patch and I think the less problems the game has the more time they can spend on the actual content.
This is why I believe in KSP2
(Don't prove me wrong devs... please?)
Also those bugs we know are being directly worked on by the KERB status updates, and that we also ahve had 3 microfixes after patch 3, of which fixed maybe the worst bug in the game
Look I think this game has a future. I think it’ll be great. Eventually. The devs are great.
I just have a problem with the advertising four years ago, compared to the product we got.
I understand. Early access. I get it.
But I literally got a high school education during the time I was waiting for this game to come out.
A roadmap with little to no timeline is not a roadmap. It’s a vision board. It tells us where we will eventually end up but not how or when we’re getting there.
And last but not least, the first game, with or without mods, is more playable and enjoyable in most ways. It’s more stable. It has more features. It crashes……less…sometimes. With graphics mods it’s beautiful. So I’ve found no reason to play ksp 2 aside from testing it out.
I’m sorry to say it. I really am.
I think these are the reasons that (some) players are upset.
Nope. Not intercept games.
Its a different studio. The whole thing is q bit confusing, but it basically goes like this:
The studio you mean is, or was called uber entertainment. In preparation for the first ksp2 trailer they rebranded as star theory.
Then the whole hostile takeover thing happened. The current dev team is (speculation) complet3ly different from the old team at star theory, and id even suspect its less than 50% made of former ST employees.
yeah i think i heard intercept started out with only 15 employees in 2020 and have built up to 50 over the time since then
Something like that
Oh? Well in that case, I rest my case.
This was exactly my concern, thank you for clarifying
Which case? The second message you replied to states that IG is new and KSP2 is their first game. So the "history" of IG doesn't really exist, so there is no case to be rested.
I meant star theory, but I admit I was wrong and just fristrated about a series of things. My apologies
No worries mate!
Only natural. I think they can do it though!
Awe happy ending
Time to dig this back up. I have run out of both copium and hopium. I have almost lost all hope. Help me...
Play something else, do irl stuff, take a break from ksp2 for a while then come back when science comes out (whenever that may be) and compare & contrast with the previous versions.
I'm assuming you're constantly waiting for something new but that'll only be detrimental for you. Don't do this, take a break, forget about the game and have faith for the time being.
NGL, as optimistic as I have been trying to be, I'm losing steam on that front
I feel you bro
So, I’ll step away from it, and come back when a major milestone update drops
same brudha
i was wrong with 0.1.4.0
hopefully 0.1.5.0 would make the game nicer
0.1.4.0 vastly increased my FPS and removed some of my least favorite bugs
well it didnt save the game, made atmospheric flight REALLY laggy but ye it did make things better
