This would be great for reusable craft
Those are in work now and may be out in the next update to https://spacedock.info/mod/3336/SORRY. If you hop onto the KSP2 Modding Society channel you can see a video of them in development now. #1085910413239140416 message
@rugged wharf can you stop saying to download mods pls an the spaceX landing legs is a cool idea but not whit mods
Nope, can't stop - won't stop. Mods are a long tradition in KSP, and KSP2 is no different. Mods solve problems and fix bugs in the game right now, they add features and parts that make the game more fun. If people ask about a part or feature that's not in the base game but is available via mods, I'll offer that as constructive help. You're free to disregard that if you like. You're free to reply "I don't want to use mods" and leave it at that, or go further an explain why you don't want to use mods if you like. You're free. period. So am I! I'll use my freedom to offer constructive help where I'm able.
Ok but I'm windows 11
So am I - on Windows 11
Idk what do u mean
What does being on Windows 11 have to do with using mods? I'm confused on that point. I'm on Windows 11 developing and using mods
Yes, there is a mod for that.
I don't know what Windows 11 has to do with mods at all. Part mods are data, not executables, so there aren't signer issues. You simply need authority to write to your KSP2 directory.
Even if you do have all the signer stuff in Windows 11 activated, you just need to override it once for each update to the scripting mod loader in order to use scripting mods. Currently a build of BepinEx is used for scripting mods to KSP2. That will work with Windows 11.
Im modding and modded on win 11. No difference.
Yep, most people turn off the signer stuff or just click the box "yeah, the exe/dll is new and/or has changed" on the first load. People hardly notice it anymore.
Oh, Steam was also talking about sandboxing games on Windows like they do on Linux, did they every get around to doing that? That might cause those alarms not to occur at all.
Specifically, except when certain drivers for games like anti-cheat are installed or upgraded.
As I recall, any time I make a new copy of the game I have a one-time dialog box warning me about it and I just click OK and never see that again. I don't launch via Steam, and wouldn't recommend launching that way as it only adds time and hassle to the process - but I know a lot of people seem to be fine with launching it that way. The exe is no different though, so Windows shouldn't care which way you happen to go.
I think the point here is, this is the official feedback channel of the game. people give feedback to what they like, dont like and maybe wish for. nobody can stop you from suggesting mods but it kind of burries the original idea under lots of text by leading to off topic discussions etc.
Yep, this is indeed the official IG discord. It's also got a https://discord.com/channels/1039959585949237268/1078697132875317358 channel, so modding seems like an OK thing. Also, you may notice that the apparent problem David had with a mod suggest was that he felt (perhaps still feels) that being on Windows 11 somehow makes it so that installing/using mods is harder or impossible for him. That struck me as an odd position. My offer still stands to help him get that sorted.
Currently modding is not officially supported, but will come soon, apparently and is encouraged
you pointed to the modding section yourself. That's where it belongs. Now we discuss this in the wrong place that has nothing to do with landing legs.
I don't see it that way at all. I posted about SpaceX-style landing legs in a SpaceX-style landing legs thread. Whether those are obtained from mods or are stock in the game is irrelevant to the topic, however the only way you're ever likely to see them in the game is via mods. In the entire history of KSP1, SpaceX style landing legs are not a stock thing. Why would KSP2 be any different? The title of the thread is simply "SpaceX-style landing legs", not "SpaceX-style landing legs - stock only please", or ".. when in stock game?" or anything else that constrains the topic to "please only talk about the stock game". That would be kind of silly, don't you agree?
The KSP2 feedback channel is meant to give feedback to KSP2 and optionally discuss it. That means to discuss whether adding spacex style landing legs to the game makes sense or not. If yes, how could they look like? Maybe make a nice animation. Not whether there exist mods. And now we're discussing mentioning mods even. Nobody has to mention anything in the title, this is all clear by itself because we're trying to give feedback to the developers in here. KSP2 is in early access for that reason.
This whole discussion is superfluous. Yes, this forum is for providing feedback and to discuss about the topic the feedback is given. Topic is the introduction of SpaceX landing legs into the game and Schlosrat correctly pointed out that they will be soon added to the popular mod SORRY, so he's suggesting an alternative to players who want them in the game. Mods are also part of the game, they're free of charge, labor of love from modmakers and anyone can install them in 2 to 3 minutes. But we're derailing from the topic, apologies for that.
