#PLEASE add KM/H

with m/s
just remember 343 m/s is around mach 1 (depending if you're at sea level)
900 m/s is like 2000 kmh i thought i was going fast but i realised i was going faster
that's sea level, i fly at 12k m
I just remember that it's around mach 3
or you can just remember the conversion ratio
no i am not that smart i just do coding
1 m/s = 3.6 kph, you can call it 4 for the sake of mental math
half of my brain is already used to its limit and dead
1 km/s = 4,000 kph then
k per hour??
my guy you just multiply by 3.6 (approximated to 4)
oh seconds and hours thing
no it's already adjusting for that
ok but its easier in code why don't they just do that
because that's the SI unit
yes I know
i am going to fly a plane, why does that have to be science
because it's a game about science
does ksc not have a plane division
alright im just trolling
it would just be easier to understand for casual gamers you know
just opinion brother
This was brought up in the thread to add imperial units: having multiple units of velocity will be confusing online. People will say "you need 4000 km/h of delta v". Then people would have to calculate how much that is in the unit system they configured
imperial is just stupid
I'm not going to get into that debate. My point is the same argument applies
m/s
its simple, basically 1 m/s means you go a meter a second
does your car or your f16 say 1200 m/s
my car dont go that fast
no cars go mach 4 im sorry
do you know the metric system?
yes i'm not american
good
i'm from euro
balls
Planes use aviation units, so knots and nautical miles for distance; feet per minute and feet for altitude.
only americans
you do realize that aviation is quite literally one of the most international industries, right?
As well as Europe, Australia, India, Japan, etc. The notable exceptions that use metric for those measurements are Russia, China and CIS countries.
*at sea level
mach is a gradient
@rustic pollen , could you add a units option to Micro Engineer that would allow players to see speeds in kph and/or mach number (in in atmo?)
The OP here is right, the conversion is easier in code. We can do mental math and work it out, but why not make life easier?
yeah, QoL improvement
There's already a mach number entry in Micro Engineer. As for km/h, uh, err... well sure, if somebody would find that interesting 🙂
m/s is actually kinda easier for most things
Maybe km/h is easier for some rover drivers?
I could see it being useful with aircraft too, though in most any other circumstance I’d prefer m/s.
Docking, for example - I personally prefer m/s there. Same with landing.
Ask, and ye shall receive.

(excuse the poor quality, I'm on vacation so I'm playing on a potato)
Mechanism for getting "km/h" will be double-clicking on an entry that displays a speed.
Update is not out yet, I need to complete some things first.
Micro Engineer 1.3.0
- Double-clicking a speed entry changes to an alternate unit (km/h)
