Recently my game just took a huge tank in preformance out of the blue. I didnt install any mods or change anything, my preformance is just bad out of the blue. Any things I should do to fix this?

That has happened to me in the 1.12.* series, in my case with RAM usage and leaks. You can:
- Try another version, maybe 1.11.2?
- Lower your graphic textures quality, install only the most important mods and little else, keep it light. Close as many apps running in the background as possible.

Long term saves can get this too without anything else changing. Issues that can cause it- Too much debris floating around, way too many asteroids tracked in tracking station, too many satellites and high part count crafts and stations floating around. Just generally loading up the game with more stuff to think about. My PC too, really doesnt like having anything else running in the background. Game runs ALOT better if I dont have the net on, or even if I dont have any windows open behind the game. Steam will be doing little things and windows updates and all that. Is worth checking at times...start the game up in offline mode and see the difference and you can get a sense of what might be impacting performance, Start a new fresh save and compare aswell, and you might see that its either just the save thats loaded up or not.

i cant change my version because my game isnt being run through steam, and I cant change the graphics quality or else parallax wont work
ill installing all the same mods in ksp on steam tommorow and test my save on a steam install and see if it changes anything

Yeah, well thats indicitave of something else going on. If you had been using any mods, it might be one of those cases to trim a few suspect ones out, or even all of them for a test and see if there is any noticable improvement. If it looks like its from the mods, then add them back one by one or group by group and identify the ones bringing it down. After all that, checking if its was mods, or game versions....you are left with hardware issues. CPU, GPU, RAM, Power supply etc.

At least with the debris, you can clean it up if it starts being an issue. I like kesslerizing LKO too...but at some point, I gotta clean it up. Its noticable the improvement when in the map screen.

Do you have CKAN? And if so, could a mod update have broken your game?
