#how to aerobrake at eve without exploding?

You don't do a interplanetary Aero break at eve. I think nothing will help
no? so what's the point of aerobrake signs at the dV maps 😄
You don't need the dv for the ascent. But at eve you cant save tha capture
The atmo is too dense
can't accept that 😄
What is your atmosphere impact speed?
6100m/s
That is even for kerbin fast
now trying to go as low as possible + retrograde burn
I have two theories, but I can't be sure without having the craft file
- Your heat shield is too small and doesn't occlude the fairing entirely
- Your heat shield is big enough, but if you're coming in from a non-zero inclination, then there is a small difference in the angle between your orbital velocity and your airspeed velocity. If this is the case, then setting the navball to "surface" mode would help.
Another possibility is that your heatshield just fluxes too much heat to the other parts, in which case you can't do a whole lot, but in my experience a heat shield should be able to protect the parts behind them, even on Eve
it's a 2,5m heatshield at at 2,5m fairing, and the fairing does not go outward, just straight up. I think the main problem is, the glowing heatshield heats the fairing a lot, and heat does not get dissipated fast enough. There should be other parts which dissipate heat better
retrograde to surface doesnt help
both relays have 2500dV each, so I'm able to orbit them, but there are other ships on their way too
