Whenever I make a maneuver node at my apoapsis, and just do a simple prograde burn for my plan, the game makes the orbit super bad. Its usually something like 500k apoapsis and 70k periapsis. I have no idea why this does this, I even try doing a node slightly before my apoapsis. Sometimes even when I try the 500k/70k it ends up puting me back below 70k even after doing the burn perfectly.

Did you put SAS to maneuver? Burn at the indicated time?

the issue is just the manuever node just doesn't work as I would expect at all

I did a very simple prograde node
just pull prograde
and
it made that
you pulled it out too much
pull retrograde a little and bring it down
or alternatively just dont burn the full indicated time
orbital velocity at 70km is about 2,310m/s iirc
move the node backwards abit

Dead-on
It automatically calculates a 50/50 burn for you
you should plot the maunver well before you reach it
then execute the maunever when it tells you too
Try to do your burn in map without go to vessel during burn.
Not in ksp2
It calculate your réal trajectoire if you begin to burn at manœuvre node.

Just be carrefull to don't click M during burn. It reset your burn. 😒
Try with ion motor at 100km.

This is when doing just a simply prograde
PE only drops if I drag prograde more
Your twr are too low place the manœuvre node before Pe and push prograde + a few of radial (in direction of kerbin) it will do the same things than with ksp1.
Or add radial (direction of the Sky) to your manœuvre.
