#KSP2 Challenge #1 - Land on the Mun
1 messages · Page 2 of 1
Had the same problem had to come up with a different landing approach
I made it, now for the hard part of redocking at my main craft and going for minmus
Black and purple gang 🤝
Lets goooo!
And I stranded bill because I forgot to add the reentry stuff 😭
my landing on Mun 🙂
This is fine
landed with 21 kerbals it also has no fuel i landed upright but when tacking a screenshot i accidently blasted myself up 2km 😦 the lander is made up of a labradoodle engine under 1 large fuel tanks it has 2 large crew cabins each full with 8 kerbals and 1 large command pod and the kerbals cant eva because the hatch is facing down i retried the landing a landed upright this time 🙂
I found something : Mun arch !
I didn't know about the challenge when I landed on the mun earlier today, but here is me on minimus my second mission.
i've done it, not sure if i'll get back though..
update: they aren't getting back, not because of fuel but the game won't let them board anymore ):
Wheee
Made it
did it
bill will NOT be returning
time for a rescue mission!
When years of experience isn't enough for you to remember to bring landing gear but it is enough for you to be able to land anyway (music isn't added just coincidental lol).
barely enough delta v to get back
time to launch a rescue mission bc we dont got enough delta v to get home!
Done....
I will not waste fuel in a stage
how do i plant a flag lmao
Made it just in time to watch Kerbin block out Kerbol!
It's in a menu if you click on your Kerbal.
Time for a rescue mission
egg (very pixelated
||no i didnt "cheat" i 'tested' barichronestone trajectories, they do not work in timewarp. i think this qualifies for the challenge thing||
Had to improvise the landing legs were gone xD
Does that count as landing on the Mun?
what is that?
its kinda a spoiler that no one bothers to mark as one
after established a good sattelite network from kerbin to moon orbit, succesfully landed on the happy soil off the mun.
I'm prolly gonna have to send some fuel for her, I spend way too much of my return V landing this silly thing.
wow, nice aim!
Look what I found
Challenge Completed !
The first Mun landing of Kerbalkind was made thanks to the "9mm Bullet Lander" !
However this historical event shows that while some Kerbals are truly focused on the future and are looking towards the stars, others have more ... dow-to-Kerbin concerns
I mean... I landed
a rescue mission might be in order...
Landing and return
Full mission: https://imgur.com/a/4aI8mON
Took alot of adjusting to the new game but I made it!
Tim is happy about it, just a basic mun landing but on the new basalt flats!
First time I've ever taken part in a challenge, and despite my fairing randomly falling off during launch the rocket somehow survived so I count that as a good trip
Got Warped through the 4th dimension but I made it 😄
Val did it the Kerbal way
there is not heating thats why
made it but low frame rate made it difficult to land properly. due to a loss of engine during landing say hello to the mun's first permanent inhabitant
Absolutely loving the sun rays
Thanks ☺️
It took me like 3 quicksaves to get the feeling for my ship right in the first place haha

Found it!
Just realized I posted these in the wrong spot, oops. Also shown is my first Mün landing in KSP1, back in 2013 or thereabouts.
Made it. Landing gears didn't work as advertised.
First landing (:
id say this counts
First Mun landing + Round Trip
Well, I made it, but I can't do EVA since there's apparently an obstacle (suspect my docking ring or ladder are in the way). I might have enough fuel to get home, but it would involve docking on an orbital station.
My trip with an Apollo style ship.
https://imgur.com/gallery/CA27rVv
might have brought the entire rocket and command module with me... oops!
I tried to do a Apollo stile landing but because glitches I couldn’t un dock ): so… I landed with booth (my 3 mun landing)
(update iv have some how landed it back on kebrin)
Eskettit
Landed w/ Jeb and Val
But don't have enough Delta V for the return trip, guess I gotta go rescue them
bob made it to the mun and back
Valentina made it to the moon 😄
She loves the place so much that she's not coming back !
Final Descent, Landing, Solar Power & Comms reporting successfully landed on Mun. “Jester’s Munar #1” mission.
Unfortunately due to the decoupler crossfeed glitch I didn't have enough fuel to make it back
Playing with new Cargo Bays.
M u n
i tried to do a rendevous but it doesnt work. so i landed with a regular rocket.
Does anyone know were the Maneuver Planner is??
landed but the fuel crossfeed bug drained my tanks so a rescue mission was needed (with the workaround), which encountered several more bugs with gaining a landed state in orbit and having no control besides reversed RCS thrusters
I see no problem here
coincidentally.. managed to land next to an arch https://puu.sh/JAcMc/29ed9796af.jpg
Got a pretty good sized rover... though the lander that brought it here kinda exploded a lot...
BEST POSE EVER
did it in mostly 15-20 fps
🥳
landed too
We made it to the mun in the new Starship. Kerblon Musk would be proud!
landing gear kinda glitched into the ground and broke my parachute when i hit the ground, making a recovery vehicle 😅
after much pain and suffering... I finally made it!!!
I dont have enough delta-v to get back.....
just got here. The docking ports would not disconnect so now they are stranded and need rescue ( sorry for small Image)
A mild Kraken attack has prevented by brave kerbonaut from disembarking by clipping the radial thrusters into the main craft body, but my Apollo style lander has safely touched down on the Mun! Now to rendezvous...
Landed, and managed to get home (with only minor messing around in save files to get the game to render flight paths)
Just made it with Zero fuel remaining, Time to Launch a Rescue
Landed on the dark side of the Mun.
Ran into a million technical issues on the way there, but I did it! Made it to the Mun... mostly in one piece...
Landed successfully just forgot to put solar panel on my craft.... Let try to get back home now.
Made it!
made it, had to land with eva pack due to fuel crossfeed bug
Made it sort of; slope looked a lot flatter from above
We made it, guys!

Late post, made it just after an hour off release.
Finally lol, took me some hours to adjust to the new physics of the game :(
I tried to get them back with another craft but the kerbals fell threw the muns ground ;-;
Mun Landing!
(unfortunately wont be able to get back to kerbin due to the fuel tank starting at 20% fuel)
I finally did my first mun landing ever! It was a total disaster but I did it 🥲
And now... to get him back

Had to do it on all low settings at lowest resolution at 7fps average, but I did it... (pumped all settings ups and resolution for the screenshot)
finally got to doing it, and now im stranded
Might have overbuilt the rocket LOL Edit: I still made it back!
les goooooo (hint: don't plant a flag in time warp)
Finally completed! This was way harder then it should of been. Getting a lander on KSP 1 is a breeze. I felt like KSP 2 was fighting me the whole time. But I did it!
Desland is happy he found a Mun Arch! (Though now he's stuck on the Mun)
I call them the Apollo 13
Blimpy - Very large ship with two of the new round Hydrogen tanks and the largest Hydrogen engine to date. This is my second ship to Mun and it has enough fuel to head to the outer reaches of the system. Seats 5.
https://youtu.be/-WiV4Yupjt0
Had a heck of a time finding a spot flat enough to land though. Still struggles with large ships so colonies might be difficult to implement.
New larger tanks and larger Hydrogen (LF) engine, much stronger and more efficient than the old Nuke. Second ship for the KSP2 Weekly challenge (#KSP2WeeklyChallenge).
Jeb Level, solo jeb gets himself stranded and Val must come rescue him.
First attempt to actually land and I found the arch 🙂
Easy
Let's just all agree I did my best. My computer was doing it's best. I see optimization of graphics and such in the future. :3
A few bugs but made it.
Landed and returned, the rise of Kerbol on the Mun was quite atmospheric
first landing, things of course did not go quite as expected...
Made It
Got it better on attempt #12 I think
Lost count
I did that on my second ksp 2 launch
Attempt 1, and then sent two more to retrieve Bill
Landed and found the arch on my first attempt, burned to much Delta V to get closer and had to send a rescue ship for Jeb.
Tim came to save Val after her ship decided it wanted to go to the Mun's core
Strech goal for Jeb
Not enough fuel to go home! !
Guys I think the next ksp 2 challenge should be getting back to kerbin
We made it!
No I think it should be going to duna. Because ive already done it and its easier for mee
Re-creating my Mun-landing from 11 years ago:
The stretch goal for Mun is to rescue the crew with a second rocket, so it would not be possible for people who did the stretch goal
Mun Arch Probe
In the KSP launcher it says you have to land a kerbal
The true secret challenge: jet pack from kerbin to the Mun and back.
figured i would repost with an uploaded image instead of a linked one that might vanish by time these get looked at...
did it
Are all Mun arches like that in KSP2 or is it just that one?
Just 1
Challange done: Land on Mun
Overkill 1: Take a rover with you
Overkill 2: Go back to Kerbin and land
Good job
flight report
Done! With a build of the Saturn V rocket as Apollo mission.
that looks epic man
Pause the game when doing that, it for some reason stops your craft from tipping
ESA Argonaut on the Moon !
Done
Just put this small lander ontop of a medium SRB. Took a lot of Delta V to not be lawn Dart status into the MUN surface. But alas we survive.
Made it to the Mun!
I landed next to the [Special] Mun arch. Flying threw it teleports you in to Skyrim XD ||

Well. I guess this kerbal is on laythe with just a plane. It doesnt even perform well
space car space car
Space rescue! Bill landed 2 days ago in a crash landing, and Jeb and Val launched a rescue mission to save him. Here's all three happy and healthy on the Mun!
Valentia claimed the Arch for the honour and glory of all Kerbal-kind. And to one-up Jeb
Successfully landed on the Mun... and Kerbin
I think I gave my lander more Delta V than necessary kek
Val and Bill successfully planted a flag on the Mun in the name of Kerbin
Landed on the Mun, but Bill forgot a few things.....like parachutes....Guess they'll hang out in LKO till the next shuttle launch.
https://youtu.be/h4xoKYTC_k0 Maybe you prefer the real apollo style of doing things
Update: I stuck the landing, and they got to go home afterwards, too 🎉
Bill kerman seems very happy that his rocket has toppled over lol
Bills oneway trip to Tylo...
Second Landing with a Rover 😄
...landed on Kerbol.... kinda
what in the world...
To the Mun Arch and back. 🙂
That's MOHO?!?!?! What's with the ice?
Big Blimpy landed on Moho Eeloo in giant crevice by large green rock. My kerbal is tiny in comparison, as seen standing up in front on the right of the ship.
See the landing. https://youtu.be/IYVdxwKpmj0 (can't get the embed to update with the new title)
Thanks to @onyx pike for correcting me on the planet.
Second landing for Blimpy. First was on Mun.
Only recorded Mun departure: https://youtu.be/-WiV4Yupjt0
I did it
sent a rescue mission to the previous landing, ran out of fuel so I had to use the orbital rocket to get a safe landing, I also had to ditch it last minute...now i need to rescue 3 kerbals....
Sniff, lander freaked out when Val exited the can. Went spinning away. Almost killed her too ahahah.
I'd call that a success
hey i landed soemthing similar but mine ran away frm me
how the hell am I getting 40fps at 4k max settings with a 1070ti?
First time landing on the mun in either game
On the dark side, without style but Bob did it. Unfortunately he must stay up there because of a hole or something in the fuel tank.

It aint much but... well... it aint much
Valentina's MK 1 lander and the KSC's first contact with the Mun! In an interview, engineers said they were so excited for their first build that they forgot to add "getting home" to the list of things this rocket could do. "We just really wanted to get out there," they explained. Good thing Valentina packed extra snacks!
Bob had the privilege of piloting the hefty MK 3. In fact, so hefty that it skipped the entire second mark. Critics called it "Quite almost supererogatory". (The KSC's accountant said the same)
One small... you know 😉
Made a surprisingly steady, soft landing. They didn't read the manual about opening the airlock from the outside, but they enjoy the view, so should keep them distracted for a while.
My entry for the challenge.
Did this just in time yesterday!

kSP 2 Week 1 Challenge, Part 1 - Mun Landing, I encounter a few issues /bugs along the way.

Rescuing the Kerbals that got left behind in my part 1 video.
a
So yeah....
Did she die
Lets goooo (safely back to earth too)
Yoo that looks sick
wow
Oh now I did it properly
That was a a horrible experience!
So much for a rescue mission. Jeb fell through the moon !!
Valentina's first Mun landing with a nice peak at Kerbin in the background!
does this count? i was about to land until this happened
dead chat
dead chat
I finally did the challenge guys!!!!!11!
Anyone remember the good old days?
