(This method uses industrial procedures and expensive chemicals so no one can efficiently recreate this in real life, though it would actually work)

Have fun

Starting ingredients:
Benzene (from crude oil/condensation of 3 molecules of acetylene)
Carbon monoxide (burning coal in low oxygen environment)
HCl gas (H2 + Cl2/adding sulfuric acid to salt)
AlCl3 (aluminum + Cl2 gas)
NaBH4 (borax + soda ash = CO2 + NaBO2, NaBO2 + 4 * Na + 2 * H2 + SiO2 = NaBH4 + 2*Na2SiO3)
PCl3 (phosphorus + Cl2 gas)
Sodium cyanide (burning methane + ammonia with platinum to get HCN, HCN + NaOH = NaCN)
Acetic acid (fermenation of sugar/methanol + CO + hydrogen iodide)
Sodium ethoxide (ethanol + sodium metal)
Methylamine (2 * formaldehyde + ammonium chloride = methylamine + formic acid)

(Some byproduct are neglected)

Benzene + CO (HCl + AlCl3 as catalysts, heat) = benzaldehyde (C6H5-COH)
Benzaldehyde + NaBH4 = benzyl alcohol (C6H5-CH2-OH),
Or 2 * benzaldehyde + NaOH (heat) = benzoic acid (C6H5-COOH) + benzyl alcohol
Benzyl alcohol + PCl3 = benzyl chloride (C6H5-CH2-Cl)
Benzyl chloride + NaCN = phenylacetonitrile (C6H5-CH2-CN)
Phenylacetonitrile + HCl + H2O (heat) = phenylacetic acid (C6H5-CH2-COOH)
Phenylacetic acid + acetic acid + 2*sodium ethoxide = Phenylacetone (C6H5-CH2-CO-CH3)
Phenylacetone + methylamine + NaBH4 = methamphetamine

You will certainly get poisoned and die in real life if you follow the steps, or your reaction mix violently detonate.

the lye/HCl won't work but the red phosphorus + HI probably can

also red phosphorus from matchbox is dumb, use crushed bone + sand + coal coke in a homemade crucible can give you a whole bunch
