I'm not fully awake yet so I'm not going to try and crosscheck all the facts (let me know if that needs doing, I'll do so at a later time then) but just give general feedback.

first thing, since you're starting the guide with a whole bunch of dos and don'ts, that has a high probability of causing stress for newcomers as it makes it seem like there's a potential way to "do island wrong" or break it, so it should be prefaced with a disclaimer that you really can't mess up island sanctuary whatsoever and that failure to follow the guide to the letter won't cause anything worse than minimal delays.

There is multiple people looking over it, and also one of the reasons a rewrite is being considered is so that it will be editable again.

So don't stress trying to get every little detail, we can correct the tiny stuff later.

you might want to mention early on that buildings have to be manually finalized and that while they look finished and the game tells you, repeatedly, that the process finished, you still have to waddle your ass to the placard.

consider adding information what nodes are avaiable where and what unlocks if you want the guide to be comprehensive, because someone who is there for following a guide rather than trying things out as they come across it will definitely go "this says stone hammer unlocks gatherable from some stone nodes, but which and where?" and "gather pumpkin and cabbage seeds" is totally cool and totally useless if you don't know where to go (and the cabbage seeds are reasonably well hidden for a first time islander)

you explain groove and landmark effects but not how efficient crafts work.
now, all of those are explained by the ingame tooltips, but that's expecting people to read multiple sources while training them that you'll repeat important information anyway, which is likely going to result in people not paying attention to the ingame tooltips instead.
because people gonna be people, I strongly suggest a small addition about efficient crafts and how the workshop works (not the crunchy bit. the "chain categories for double points and also you'll want to make things that are popular, in high demand and high points if you can")

come to think of it, might also want to add lines about how crops and leavings are generated and collected. the game has you plant, water and feed your animals whether you want to or not, but it never actually tutors you how and when to collect directly.
I mean, it's all there in the ingame guide and it's really bloody obvious, but like basically all obvious things that are only explained in the ingame help people will repeatedly ask.

regarding the pasture, you mention to always keep it full, but you might also mention that the game will prompt you to release an animal when you capture into an already full pasture and allows you to collect any leavings in the process too so it's (almost! but the chances of a newcomer running into that problem are zero - fail state is having a leaving type at 999) impossible to miss out and mess up.

upgrading pasture and cropland to rank 3 costs cowries (iirc 1500 each), without crosschecking I could swear it does not require the tools. the tools are for automation only iirc (but please do crosscheck. I've had coffee but it's not hit the bloodstream yet)

as for the formatting, I like it. header markup looks nice and tidy in a browser window. and I think that's all I have to add for now.

@barren arch I'm currently out and about but saw you had edited the guide wip - in regards to "too much info/too detailed" when it comes to specific rather than generalized info (i.e. items required for upgrades and also perhaps things like "these items are available now and where") you could add a separate list/attachment at the bottom like for the levelling presets

Thanks again for all your feedback - I've updated the WIP further, and I think I've covered all of your suggestions. I've tried to keep each rank in one message, so they're limited to 4000 characters. This also forces me to stop overwhelming the player with information. 🙂

The aim is to give players enough information (essentially a to-do list) so that they don't get (as) lost or confused - listing materials and xp for upgrades felt nice, but that information is in game, so I'm not sure it was worthwhile repeating it.

I updated the general info to give a link to kd3's sheet instead, so the information can be found if needed (hopefully)
