Can a new permadeath implementation that just wipes your talents, talent points, and resets your skills back to job baseline be introduced? Ideally keeping your appearance, job, and character name.

The current permadeath options are very cumbersome in medium and above crew multiplayer servers. People should be able to get wiped, and not have to worry about having a bot with the job they want on hand or in reserve. They should just come as respawns or mid round joiners via whatever respawn method is selected, only with their earned xp and skills reset to 0 and baseline.

I should point out in vanilla only captain has job limits now

Isn't permadeath already standard in the base singleplayer?

The permdeath in the game works in the most nonsensical way. You have to have purchased bot and have them be active or in your reserve crew, if you have no spare bots, then no one can respawn and play. They also cannot have the job they want when selecting a bot, cause you have to hire bots based on jobs.

The existing permadeath is actually just punishment and a way to kill your server when playing with above a handful of people. You either have to invest so heavily to allow people to play the game how they want, or you just tell them "Sorry, we only have assistants" and watch them leave.

Permadeath isn't even an extra challenge based on the way it runs now, it's just tedium.
A simple just reset the character when they die in the easiest alternative.

It's especially bad early game and late game. Early since you generally have no spare money for bots, that you only need if someone dies, and Late game cause there are no more stations in biome 5 and you won't be able to find the reinforcements to buy.

The current permadeath system is a great integration with the games theme, setting, and overall vibe of the crew of a submarine. Managing them, replacing the fallen, etc. It's just so non-sensical for medium and above multiplayer servers that it never gets used.

I agree with that, I can only imagine using it on campaigns with friends (which definitely narrows down the usage of a very fun concept). The fact that the game won't be able to force you to create a new character is a little sad for that immersion, though
