This one's pretty simple. It's a throwable harpoon with a wrist-strapped tether. Aim and click to throw it like a grenade, flying decently far in a generous ark, dealing moderate laceration and bleed damage. Hold down both the aim and fire buttons to reel it, or deselect the weapon to detach it.

Can be fabricated with no recipe, requires weapons skill to throw further and harder, and can be purchased at any outpost.

The idea is to have a more accessible version of the harpoon gun. Less cost to create and use, but also less efficacy. A good weapon for early campaign, or for arming assistants when they're too incompetent to use firearms.

#

I forgot to mention, detaching the harpoon doesn't snap it or use some durability system, it just causes the harpoon to untether from your character and remain embedded in the target or wherever it is. You can still collect it.

throwing stuff by arm underwater is really hard its practically useless

pretty sure underwater spearfishing is a sort of elastic/bow-string like thing (build tension, release and it fires off, but short ranged)

so in the end it'll just be another harpoongun, might as well just make a "wrist tether" weapon you can put a harpoon in to "throw" if anything it'd just be a poorman's harpoongun

realistically i think only the harpoon coil rifle would be usable at 2-5k+ depths irl

although there is a particular spring powered design that may also function
