#Option to disable 'infinite fuel' when docked at outposts

Either a toggle or having it not be hardcoded so it can be changed with mods would be great
I thought the implication was that we were stealing off of the outpost somehow, this doesn't work for unfriendly stations though
you can already draw power through the docking port without using the infinite fuel rod
I think a nice alternative is getting charged a modest fee when leaving for every kWh consumed. That might integrate better with modded stations and better balance battery based subs.
But like.... why
It has like literally 0 impact besides needing to turn of the reactor when you dock and turn it back on when you leave
Some subs aren't designed to draw power from stations, so the option basically gives a shortcut to replicate that. That's my guess.
This would be great if infinite fuel did not exist
Ok but then you'd just have to use the station fab and decon and have the ship off
I don't see like any reason to change this other than to just add a minor nuisance for no reason
Mainly just because having infinite fuel doesn’t really make sense and is a bit immersion breaking.
But what I’m suggesting is an optional thing so by default you would still have the infinite fuel
Is it really that immersion breaking though? It takes quite a while before you even realize it's happening, and in terms of the game the time spent at a station is much much shorter than the time spent traveling so it makes sense you wouldn't notice the rods deteriorating
Depends on what people want in their immersion. Some would rather just forget the sub while at the station and others would be going and doing full hull/system checks during the downtime
And I mean the part of the station we see is just the visiting area if I remember right
Atleast if I remember right from the things I have heard
We definitely don't see the full of it, the cities have thousands of inhabitants and best you can find is like 20 or something, so whether it's a visiting area or not, it's definitely a limited area
I dont think its super immersive breaking that stations can provide power to submarines either and this is just a gameplay thing to demonstrate that
The only reason it doesn't use fuel is so that it doesn't randomly punish you for not turning it off, it still uses fuel at abandoned stations so I really see no issue for such a trivial thing
