I love this game but the use of AI art bothers me. I'm not against ai art in general, but when it replaces real art to cut corners that's when I take issue.

Why?
Using AI feels very cheap and low quality, especially when the game is as expensive as it is. Replacing the art would make the game feel more "genuine" and more polished. If the issue is money, I'm not entirely sure how that'd be a problem considering that the game is far more expensive than most other indie games. Hell, I'm sure a few of the artists in the Discord wouldn't mind doing it for free.

It's also very noticeable. Look at any of the AI images and try and find more than 3 distinguishable objects. 99% of them don't even resemble things from Barotrauma and just look like blobs of metal and pipes.

I know that it's a pretty minor issue, but to me it really comes across as cheap and lazy. Besides, it wouldn't pull effort from other parts of the game.

Finally, I'm not sure if in-game sprites are AI, as they look very... off, especially the guns. It'd be nice if those were also remade and polished.

The art ingame is original, but it has been heavily touched up by AI

Honestly don't know why they went that route but 🤷‍♂️

Whilst some sprites could use more polishing and modernization, it's not exactly a priority, and something the majority can manage without BaroDev

#

I'd rather have a less buggy, optimized game with semi-shit graphics, than a game with great graphics but awful optimization and bugs galore
