Maybe some wrecks would be completely broken in two or three parts, you needing to do a little exploring in order to find the other fragments of it? In the idea that the sub sustained a heavy amount of damage to the middle and it just ended up breaking apart instead of falling to the seabed immediately, causing one or more pieces to fly off in a different direction.

The location differences wouldn't have to be crazy different, maybe just the front portion of a boat being 20-30m ahead of the rest of the hull.
