as much as i love this game, it isnt worth $35 usd in the slightest. the game itself is very buggy and unpolished, and it would be much more popular (and in turn more profitable) if the price was lower.

ok, so the problem is that the keys are not obtained via fully legal methods, so buying it from a key site is technically just pirating, but with extra steps, the whole risk thing only really applies if you are A: using an unreliable site and/or buyer, or B: one of the very unlucky individuals who gets caught somehow
so in other words, the same rules as normal pirating apply, only EA and nintendo

While the game does have a price higher than the amount and quality of current content warrants, I'm sure it's that high because the developers need that much from each purchase.
However, maybe lowering it would be a worthwhile financial decision, as it'd draw in more buyers that would otherwise pass off the opportunity to experience the game themselves.
If the product were $20, maybe a 4-Pack Purchase could be $60, encouraging people to share Barotrauma with their friends, which would also increase the game's popularity.

had a key missing once, asked support for help and got it in just an hour
i can totally recommend getting keys for games on trusted websites, only issue is you cant refund them so either get those on a big discount or for games you already know youll actually like
There is a reason steam has a key feature you can easily access and use
and if you got a good deal on a good site, you save a lot of money on a purchase without any added risk or problem

They generally aren't getting paid at all, and if you're not technically savvy enough to pirate you're not technically savvy enough to not get scammed by key resellers or to not support shit like credit card theft
