  1. being able to update submarines mid playthrough would be really nice
its a big pain in the ass trying to make a submarine and having to restart a campaign just to have to grind missions, kill a buch of dudes and get to the second area
and buy your tier 2 sub and test it just to find something else does not work and repeat
2.. an NPC command for how many rods should be in the reactor for SP i think would be nice
im currently using the typhon and people shit on the Dugong for that submarines power "problems"? the typhoon is worse unless you are using 2 rods or more and let me remind you that's currently impossible to ask an NPC to do

i beg of you baro devs PLEESE implement these QOL inprovements in the next update i beg of you

Im not 100% sure but I think that updating mid game is not possible.

static topaz

Like you could start in a sub that is worse than the barsuk, and update it to be the Berilla or something

You have to save it as a different sub or package

I miss barocraftables

static topaz
#

There is even Barocraftables+

neon crow
#

When i tried it, the game just broke

#

Also heard reports that its bonk

#

Hasnt been maintained in a while

static topaz
#

It mostly works

#

NPCs may pick up storages and move them

#

But that may be my mods

brittle obsidian
#

Why are you guys talking about this here? Go to gen

neon crow
#

Hence me bringing it up

#

You can even take apart other subs like wrecks for their items and apply it to your own

golden quarry
#

I would suggest testing your submarine with a mission on sandbox before using it in a campaign

#

Typically, you should pick up any issues

#

And leaving any wiring unlocked to fix any other snags mid campaign

hushed steppe
#

agree

#

i typically do at least an hour of test runs with another person with me

campaign would need to record the changes made in campaign rather than store an independent copy of the submarine
which would introduce more issues

somber marlin
# brittle obsidian There are no console commands i know up to update a sub mid game
  1. You can start with any submarine, in multiplayer it just allows you, in SP you need to enable debugdraw before starting compaign

You can swap submarines midgame by using save editor, its not hard

  1. The value for this already exists in code, its just not made available to player and instead just hardcoded so bots wait till power output is 2 times under the load

private bool NeedMoreFuel(float minimumOutputRatio, float minCondition = 0f)

minimumOutputRatio decides at which point bots load more fuel, but its just hardcoded to 0.5

drowsy coyote
somber marlin
#

so

#

it is a cheat , who cares

somber marlin
#

Actually minimumOutputRatio doesnt even matter, bots are hardcoded to place ONE fuel rod into the reactor and no more

golden quarry
# drowsy coyote This has already been discussed, and you can't be 100% accurate https://discord....

So this entire thread is a duplicate then 😛
But at that point, it's just snags - I usually push an updated version of the sub after a campaign onto the workshop with those fixes. And they aren't really game-breaking enough to need replacement, it's just little things. Swapping sub versions mid campaign would be interesting but way too much stuff to take into account to be a practical use of dev's time.

Development time is worth considering for any feature, yeah.

karmic heath

A simple option to refresh your own submarine from the same file if you found an issue later in testing would be a lifechsnger

zinc elk
#

lazy solution: a resetsub command that replaces the campaign copy with an untouched copy straight from the .sub (losing all campaign progress made so far)

#

probably possible with lua

Why? BaroDev

somber marlin

There's no point in complicating the process when installing an OP submarine is a much more reliable way of trivializing the campaign.

static topaz
#

Like some gamews (Fallout 4) the game is so boring and buggy without mods

white rapids
#

Yea, I'm not advocating for Barotrauma to disable achievements on modded saves. I'm saying the decision to make console commands disable achievements was stupid.

static topaz
#

Not like the achievements are special

white rapids
#

One thing console commands are good for is making up for bullshit caused by bugs.

static topaz
#

They are just kill this, recruit this

Do round as this

then start a campaign with your sub and just cheat in extra crew/money?

brittle obsidian
zinc elk
#

sounds like a you issue
at the moment it's easier to do it that way than to start a campaign with some other sub and grind your way to getting the sub you actually want to test

okay but they're just giving you a solution

i'm not being snarky though

brittle obsidian

i know i just wanted the pun

hushed steppe

i'm telling you that they're not telling you it shouldn't be added

#

they're giving you a solution to your problem that can be implemented right now

brittle obsidian
#

it should it would make it so much easier and we have alreaty said its not cheating as we can just turn off atchevements when a sub is updated

#

Maybe it was some sort of other bug that caused achievements to still be enabled, idk

#

Didnt use any mods that would chsnge the way achievements work

#

But as far as i remember, you could also just give yourself achievements if you make your own mod as it is done by simple code you can see if you edit the base game files

#

i usually have to have cheats enabled to fix bugs and issues

#

i'll admit i'm occasionally guilty of giving myself the missing 2 titanium to finish my crafting chain

white rapids
#

Interesting to know that it works differently between the two categories of saves.

copper vector
#

I knew a guy who managed to edit a sub mid campaign using a save decompiler or something like that. Also you can just make a fixed version of your sub cost 1 credit and switch to it.

neon crow
#

Yep

#

Pretty easy to do

#

All you have to do is load up the save file in the editor
Download the sub file from the save file

#

Load that sub file and change shit to your hearts content

#

And then after that you can reinsert your edited sub into the campaign again and redownload the save file with the edits

Was talking about multiplayer all along, could have clarified that better

coral ridge
#

Submarine editor is a modding tool not a gameplay feature

#

It would require a lot of work to make it not break any semblance of balance

#

It would be like saying Minecraft creative mode is not cheating in survival mode basically

#

The second bit about fuel rod amount true

#

Maybe it'll stop the stereotype of more than 1 fuel rod is griefing

hushed steppe

xd

brittle obsidian
hushed steppe

how do you make titanium from iron, carbon, and silicon

#

titanium is an element

neon crow
#

Sci fi BaroDev

static topaz
#

Titanium is so easy to get

#

Just steal some dive suits

hushed steppe
#

real

static topaz
#

Dive suits are super easy to get

#

You just need a station, a room with just a dive suit, a wielder and a cutter

#

You could even breakdown armour and breakdown the fibers

white rapids

Just visit a mining outpost once every 2 biomes.

Or that

Your problem with rods and power has an easy solution:

  1. As you progress through the game you get more and better resources. This means you are not supposed to run your endgame sub off of a single normal quality uranium rod.
  2. Regarding bots, what you can do is NOT give the engi the order to operate the reactor and do the following: set it to manual (preferrably controlling the engi in singleplayer), lower the fission rate, insert more rods, make sure it is stable and then set it to auto.
Of course this means you have to be aware of how much fuel you have left (can to that with wiring)
golden quarry
white rapids
#

Thorium rods are actually pretty cheap, as far as reactor fuel goes.

#

But yea, bots should probably prioritize achieving max reactor output, even with uranium.

coral ridge
#

You can move away from uranium but you'll always have it and want to use it

white rapids
#

Use it all for ammo. BaroDev
