Double chaingun with HE ammo 
Just the assault chaingun from starsector lol

Please no more with the double trouble type weapons
Although with the double laser idea, may i instead advocate for a tls style weapon
Just a concentrated beam laser that drains ammo fairly quickly but you get crazy dps from it
All weapons are unique
The coil gun is the "vanilla" gun so it makes a bit sense there is a better version of it
But changing and Pulslaser wouldn't be fun
Also the rail gun is a bit like a big Pulslaser
Both do sing strong shots
And the flak is a bit like a stronger chair gun with being made to spray in groups
So this would be not a good addition to the game
I didnt mean a bigger pulse laser if this was addressed to me
But rather a continuous beam weapon
Something like the tls from ace combat
The different kinds of ammunitions makes it overlap the railgun and the laser
Its honestly probably better than the railgun considering the amount of shots you have
Railgun also has completely different damage type to the laser, the latter focusing on burn type damage
Which makes it shine in areas other weapons dont
With the heavy hardpoints theres a significant lack of any kind of chemical/energy based weapons/damage and i personally feel having a weapon of that calibre and niche would bring about some diversity to the heavy hardpoints
Make this and have the chaingun have a overheat to balance it (may be good may be bad idk I just think it'd work well)
Maybe we should add a half railgun too
This is easy to do in the editor. And let it remain a feature of specific submarines.
Tbh i dont think new weapons should have that kind of mindset
With how weapons are now they have 2 major things that differentiate themselves
- The damage type they do and the amount of damage they do
- The variance that comes from their ammo type
Having a half railgun seems a bit counterproductive, considering how well designed the current railgun is rn.
Okay but what about a half double coilgun
Having a stronger version/weaker version of a currently existing weapon doesnt make much sense considering how power and strength is measured in this games balance. That is, how powerful you are isnt measured linearly in progression, but rather with the availability of materials.
A good example that emphasises this is the coilgun
Yes one could see the coilgun as the basic bitch of all weapons but once you have the means to produce exotic ammo types, its arguably one of the best turrets in the game
Explosive ammo on the coilgun/double coilgun is some looney toons shit
Its gotten nerfed quite a bit tbf

But without a doubt the coilgun is crazy powerful because of the sheer variance in its munitions type
And id argue its necessary that future turrets keep that in mind
This is why we should add a quarter coilgun

I advocate for a grenade launcher instead
With the option of chemical warheads
Any kind of option that makes use of different materials in a way that other weapons currently dont
And i think a grenade launcher is a good start
One turret I'm thinking of working on myself is a small hardpoint steam turret

it requires a lot of manpower during a fight compared to every other option

The dual wielding shells has helped quite a lot
We need placeable railgun racks
I feel like ammo racks could be reworked entirely imo
So that it depends on what turret you have
Course it wouldn't work with current setup
You'd need 1 per turret
Which not all subs have
So I reckon it would have to be an opt in via link
That way you wouldn't have wasted space if you choose to not use x turret
Granted this is only a railgun issue as per usual

Some cool turret types that i think could be cool
- Grenade launcher (chemical warheads included)
- Concentrated beam weapon (with nuclear beam type and stun beam type)
- Tesla coil (because funi)
I think a tesla coil would have variety problems
Pulse laser is already hard to avoid burns with
I was thinking mortar but that clashes with the railgun
A bit yeah
I still think some sort of mlrs weapon would be cool too but i get the notion that perhaps the barotrauma devs are less likely to add something like that

Also, before we get a double laser, the original laser needs more ammo types. Just one more box. Or two. Expensive piercing laser and ineffective against large targets zappy laser.
