They should add a plant that grows fruit rich in Uranium so that fuel rods will literally have their materials grow on trees
It says it was made for "underwater construction," so it doesn't need to be good at mining to be lore-accurate. It also doesn't need to really be good at combat to be lore-accurate, but it's unlocked in the combat tree, so it should be combat-focused for gameplay usefulness.
Really, it taking moderately expensive fuel rods to run just means that it makes no sense to be a standard construction uniform - why wouldn't they make it cheaper to run, such as off of batteries?
Yeah, having Fuel Rods be required to run something that should be standard for construction does seem weird.
Massive inventory, removes recoil effects from HMG (and many modded guns) but has very slow speed and requires fuel rods to run making it very situational.
Buff ideas small melee buff from servo arms perhaps 10% damage? Slightly faster movement on land and in water or just an increase in the air tanks and/or fuel rod time to make up for it being so ponderous.
Honestly it shouldnt go through fuel that fast
considering fuel rods usually power a whole ship
Though fuel rods aren't exactly hard to get
i think what should happen is that we make a slot which can house welding fuel which the suit uses to get quick bursts of fast movement around combat armor suit
Wasn't it buffed to not be pushed around by water forces? Its supposed to be a strong item but where you just live in a puc suit in end game besides abyss pressure, the exosuit really doesn't have a good play and comes off more like a novelty, its slow so one person in a pucs/abyss just takes a crate down and has someone scooter drag them to collect items. It also clangs around the bottom of the ship and often gets losts due to massive damage.
Even if the suit was a bit faster its cumbersome nature makes it feel more like a waste of resources a lot of the time and even in my weapon mod where it removes the recoil from roughly 7 high end guns allowing a mechanic to just turn into a walking tank doesn't really spark joy in making more than one as a gimmick for getting the talent, and unlike PUCs its very much centered on the Mechanic only using it for the significant speed boost of late game combo of oxygenite + talent & maybe drugs turning it into a huge resource hog to red line it into being useful.

Oxygenite doesn't give you movement buff in exosuit
With the new unstable changes, the Exosuit is without a doubt the best dive suit in the game for any combat related EVA dive. It 100% does not need a buff in any way.
Why? Well, it has gotten its defense buffed to 80% physical damage resistance, which is pretty insane, especially when the other dive suits have had their defenses severely nerfed. Normal dive suits have only 10% resistance now, and Abyss suits have 50%, so the 80% that Exosuits give is extremely powerful.
Also, with how fragile normal suits now are, it's basically suicide to go on a monster nest extermination alone - that is, of course, unless you bring the Exosuit, which turns YOU into the army you need.

For all the people talking about the recent changes, this post was made before they happened and honestly imo the buffs aren’t enough to make up for moving at snail pace
Are you aware all other diving suits are getting nerfed too
Its not just a 10% buff
Its effectively a 20% buff when you take into account all the other suits are being reduced by about 10%
Nah, the slow speed is 1000% worth the insane defense and bonus cargo capacity. They could make the Exosuit half the speed it currently is and it would still be top tier for nest missions.

and i dont intend on spending 7 hours on a nest mission
I would rather them get rid of the Exosuit storage and buff the speed a bit in the water
Backpack also slows you down and doesn't provide armor
I believe backpack is 30% reduction to speed?
Yeah backpack is 30% speed and propulsion reduction
Exosuit is more at 60% speed and a whopping 75% propulsion
Backpack is still faster
But exosuit provides very chunky defense in return
And you can combine a backpack and an exosuit
Become the walking cargo sub
I'm not certain on this, but I think both slows are not applied too

The storage isn't that important, it could have zero extra storage and still be worth brining because it turns you into an invincible killing machine.
There are many ways to buff your swim speed once you get to late-game equipment. Sure, you could go even faster if you wore a slipsuit instead, but then you'll be instantly torn to ribons by tiger threshers, so it's kind of a mixed bag. I prefer having only moderate move speed and the combat power of a 3-man dive team.
The storage is basically the replacement for speed in in my eyes

With this new update I regret what I've said about buffing the exosuit. When I said buff the exosuit I meant allow it to be better, not the best suit in the game

For fucks sake they are supposed to be worn all the time ITS ON OF THEYR CORE FEATURES
They still have auto injector, high husk resistance, high fire resistance, and can breathe hull oxygen. Anyone who wants to can still wear them around the sub, especially bots, it's just a little bit more of a trade-off to be able to get 24/7 pressure immunity.
