#Resuscitate dead characters (Permadeath Update)

This game already has CPR
Why not take it 1 step further with a resuscitate feature?
The thing is
Depending on what they died from of course
thats what getting someone out of a downed state is
That'd be perfect for this game
dead is when its too late

And the assistant is like 'damn you live!'
And he zaps him 5 times

I'm not into mods much. Neurotrauama seemed overcomplicated for this game at first glace

When someone is in the unconscious state that’s because they’ve undergone cardiac arrest
That’s why you have to do CPR
also neuro is stupid if doctor wants to touch u and rip ur limb and organ off u have no chance lmfao
Once that bar is gone they’ve either bleed all their blood or brain death has occurred
touch u owo immediately u are drugged and unconscious and u missing all ur limbs xD and heart
also yeah maybe defib has like 1 minute timer
and has like 20% to work xD
from when theyre dead dead
The in game version of this is that second healthbar while they are on the floor
A defib only assists in restoring an ordinary heart rate
Granted because of the way healing works in game you can often slap blood into them and they get up
Only does anything if the heart is beating or you’re doing CPR
And we already have CPR
or defib can extend their heart rate or slow down second health bar maybe
they limited injection speed for this reason kek
The only way a defib could be useful while still making sense would be just making CPR even faster
Something like the miracle in progress trait?
I mean a defib won’t do anything unless somebody is actively doing CPR, or the heart is still beating
But that’s if we want to be true to how they work in real life
I think after the unconscious vitality bar runs out - it should go into overtime where you start 'burning' skills. Once your skills reach 0 you're '100% brain dead'
yeah it slowly decays temporary health like a morphine shot with no downsides: downsides is you can only use it once per person and a 3 minute cooldown on a person
If we don’t care then we have a lot more options
so defib just buys u more time
I mean that seems like a very interesting way to add a second safety net, but it’s up to the devs to decide if players need more time to revive people
This is how I wish morphine worked but might be too complicated for vanilla tbf

but to get your full health back you will need to spend more time healing on the sub
Biggest thing about defib is do we care about how they operate in real life

Ok, then the concept of temporary help or some sort of tool for ‘super CPR’ would work
Sounds like something EK would do
I believe there are several defib mods that do something similar if you guys want the latter

Interesting idea.. I mean dead should be dead, I get that, maybe it's mroe a balance where you can have things like gear (emergency Defib) attached to your chest which will trigger (at x% health?) to revive you/make temporariyl mobile (not heal) from an unconscious state automatically before you die (maybe enough time to get to medbay or back to sub, etc.) ....also like general skills "vitamins" or other kinds of consumables that improve how long you can be incap'd before dying ... maybe a perk as you said that will drain skills as a "fuel" preventing death and giving you a little extra chance to get back up (the more "seasoned" a veteran you are, the more willpower/chance of survival, kinda deal I think would fit...with a toll/scars of course)

but adding all these things just removes the whole purpose

I agree it's supposed to be challenging! But seriously just adding a vanilla defibrillator is a good idea
It should've already been in the game - this permadeath update is the perfect time to implement it!
I'm not sure about an automatic one. Obviously it won't work on torn up people or fellas who died form blood loss or radiation blah blah stuff like that

If defib slowed down bleedout and wasn't hotbar compatible maybe
Could be used for people to delay death when medic is busy
Resurrecting "DECEASED" characters is a no for me though
there already is a resuscitation mechanic; CPR when your health is between -100 and 0
there's no need to add yet another resuscitation mechanic beyond CPR (implying that now "actual death" is at -200 health instead of -100)
because it's a shit idea that adds nothing new to the game tbh
just do your "live damn it!1!" roleplay while the character is unconscious/dbno, problem solved
