Regardless of what route we want to take.. Noise has to added to 079's face, now we have the option of having non-antialiased and having sharp clean pixels for noise, which looks aight but clashes with the rest of it,
we could have blurred antialiased noise which looks very eh.. but matches the photo a little bit better
Or.. we can do my own personal solution, since its an AI ingame, I figured.. why not upscale low resolution noise? it'll 100% look AI generated, but that's whats neat about the idea, its an AI generated look for an AI's face in a video game.. this is what that looks like

Actually I did a mix of the AI generated noise and the Non-antialiased noise and I think its the best one so far

I decided to take what I have so far, shrink it down to the original size of the photo and use a difference filter to try to get the lines
I wasn't expecting to see or recgonize anything but I noticed that besides the white lines on top and bottom theres these small gray lines in black areas as well as an area in the centre that looks like a short line in the middle.. and then it hit me..
I'm like.. 90% sure thats what they did, the lines match up perfectly as is, just gotta shift it to the left a little

I barely made edits to get it in too, just placed this edited version of the same texture overtop with the alpha set to the vignette I had earlier and set the blending mode to 'Linear burn' and thats what It looked like
This probably means whatever the source for this texture is, will be needed for AIface
unless we just choose to AI upscale it, it's one of those few textures that have been around since the game has, and it also goes right back to this

From a few days Im working on Comptall (I took a break from Tekwall). This version is not finished, there are two identical pieces and color is not perfect. Im afraid that I exaggerated with the space between particular components.

I just finished modifying it to the old version of the logo used in older/indev versions of CB, and this was my best recreation of that old logo, which by the way does not exist in a .SVG form like the other:

I feel less incentivized to buy this btw.. after all the efforts of asking and writing that insanely long paragraph of what I'm using it for I got so frustrated with thinking about modern copyright legislation that, part of me doesn't want to pay a dime in principle, ..like honestly, I know copyright can be a really good thing sometimes... but the level of outright image gatekeeping, what would they possibly have to gain by putting each and every individual who wants to purchase or use the photograph (taken in 1955 mind you) why would they put all these hoops to jump through? like... sure, maybe if someone is willing to waste all their time and efforts. sure, after all that, and sinking more money into publishing a magazine they can finally have this single image, and the company holding the rights can squander another $28.. it makes no sense to me. honestly.. truthfully.. most people.. like myself, after being asked for essentially a full autobiography of what the image is going to be used for.. decide we want nothing to do with it anymore, because its too much of a hassle. :)

This has been one of the coolest texture I've had the pleasure of remastering, with adjusting the contrast and such for everything else to match the original, there's certain details that natively show up in the Remaster that wouldn't be seen in a smaller resolution one, like this glow in his eyes
and it perfectly reflects 990 too, so I kept it

So I basically worked overnight on this, its not perfect, and I don't think it'll really ever be perfect, 1:1.. there's always something more to add to it or tweak it, and the only real way to compare it is to compress it down with sampling to 256x256 and compare with the original.. and with all that in mind.. I think its about as close as I can get it. I may come back to it, but for now; I'm actually pretty satisfied with the Recreation. and willing to use it as is,

I wanted to show this yesterday too, but I was too exhausted, but because its a PSD with layers for each thing non-destructive, you can replace the face to whatever you want, There's a lot of acrobatics involved, its not a simply drag and drop you gotta mask the light and dark sections, but its possible and works as you'd expect other wise

Alright, I've been avoiding this one for a while because of its dependency on AI to its creation, If you remember I attempted this earlier, but I wasn't happy with the result. I tried again for the last couple of hours using various methods, including AI, and this is what I was able to get, while it is theoretically possible to go 4K, it really doesn't look great, and often times looks TOO AI, so I'm making it 2K, its a little sad, but it'll work for the remaster.. here's a comparison of the Original, my old AI version, and my current attempt.

this metal texture is from this artist, Dawid Michalczyk. The highest resolution it was made was 1000x1000 unfortunately, it was made in like 2009 so I'm not overly surprised, but for me it was confirmation to go ahead and use AI, because this is one of the bigger textures used in the game, for office wall.
and it actually did a pretty good job considering, so here's that texture in 4K resolution AI Upscaled
So now I just gotta put that texture together, I gotta find where we put the source of the other texture used in the office wall though

In other news, I just finished AI upscaling and making my own modifications to two original scans of the 'Nicht euer Kind' Leaflet, so now I just gotta put these together into a PSD and Remaster the texture, I want to make two versions, one that is 1:1 with how it is in game and uses the same copy/scan they used AI upscaled, and a newer version which is more torn up, different colored paper, (Not black and white altered) and overall higher resolution, that's why there's two different versions/scans of the same leaflet I chosen

I think the coolest thing about this are the sourced/archived and upscaled textures. I think it should be one of the main focuses for it at the very least, even if it's not exactly RTX related it's still very much apart of the game and also since so much time and effort is being put into it as well.
Showing off more unique rooms you don't see everyday like the 860 or 1499 dimensions would help, although maybe something easier like gate A/B surface, maintenance tunnels, 049's room, or the nuke room could look nice.

grit1 looks like it uses the same texture as the launcher, but I'm not sure if we have found that yet or not, this is the best image of it that I have. It's flipped and the scale is a little different but it is definitely it.

I've tried looking for the tank and pipe texture, but I think they are from some free 3d model pack or something, because I'm not getting any results for their textures, and I feel like I know this because Pipesnorust2 is an edited version of the pipes texture, which makes me think they did not create the texture. I made this in ms paint, just the icon, not sure what the background could be. it's 2,000x2,182 and It's pixelated so should be easy to lower and increase resolution.

I'm like 95% sure it's a shortened/edited version of this "X" which the earliest example I could find of it is known as the KNTXT logo by Charlotte De Witte, a music group from Belgium.
However where they, and likely CB got it from if not from the music group is a typeface called VCR OSD Mono which also has the "X" shown in it.

Using the same tricks I used to find the 895 pics, I removed the darkening on it
I also used AI to generate a good looking higher resolution result, hopefully it helps with finding it, if not it'll work for remastering

I spent some time remaking the master card since I think the highest quality image online is really small. However it isn't perfect, some text is off slightly, same for some colors. And the text on the world thingy looks different but I couldn't find any image that looks like it online.
If you want to give a go at it here is what I've learned and the images I used while making it.
The mastercard font is fruitger pro 66 bold italic, the numbers font is apparently called "Credit Card Font" But I couldn't find a download for it anywhere so I just used an image. You can find the pay pass logo anywhere easy by searching, and for the EMV chip I just asked chat gpt to remake it because idk what type of EMV it is or if you can classify them like that.
if you want to edit it go ahead and download the xcf I also sent. I used Gimp to make it because I don't have photoshop. So idk if ps supports it but i'll send it anyways.

I think I did the best I could, but I think there is still things to improve, so if inward wants to change anything about it this image a good template or starting point.

the only thing that might be slightly off is the chip color.. it might just be the pixelation, but it seems that the original is ~#f4ddb4 while your remake is ~#ffe4ab
yea you are right, I got lazy and did not change it, another reason this image can just be used as a good template.
there are also some shadows under some text on the orignal, but I can't tell if it's just compression or not, so I just assumed no shadows.

I forgot to post this earlier I think too, but I was going through my laptop to find the 066 model and forgot to transfer over the high resolution image used for the drawers, which is this
I know it doesn't look quite right, but I've compared it like 100 times, whether the adobe stock is photoshopped from this photo or the other way around, the texture originally comes from those FPS game creation model packs that Regalis took for CB, and the wood grain lines up 1:1, so it can be used for reamstering, If you happen to find a high resolution of this image that predates the stock image be my guest, but I have yet to and I think this was good enough

I found it, however, either there is an alternate version or I think 012's image was created, and then later on edited because whoever made it lost the original files. You can see how some parts are not exactly the same, probably from cloning parts of the image. But it is definitely the same

if you flip between the longer and short versions of the blood notes you can see how the paper texture changes, so I think the losing original files thing is true.

how do i fix the black screen when i load into the game. ive tried windowed and it gets rid of it but it gets really low fps
Like the menu is black or the actual game? If the game world is black it probably means your missing the mod files for lights or something.
borderless Windowed also causes many issues, I'd recommend Fullscreen, always. a lot of times Borderless Windowed mode doesn't work in RTX

and then try running the game, lemme know it looks like, make sure to
- Start the game in Fullscreen NOT borderless windowed
- and to select your RTX Graphics card for the "Graphics:" device option
If that doesn't work I can troubleshoot some more with you, I'm sure we should be able to get it working

The shutterstock version says it is 4000 x 2000 and also looks more similar to the one used in CB. If you were to buy one In my opinion I would go with the shutterstock version, they both cost money, but the shutterstock version looks visually closer and I believe is in higher resolution.

if you were to use the shutterstock image, the resolution for each side would be 1000x1000 which is actually lower than containment breaches 1024x2024, so it is possible there is a larger resolution, or the one in containment breach is just scaled up. But I'm assuming you will use AI to upscale it so I don't think it should be an issue I guess. Just something I thought I should mention.

I'm thinking of just disabling borderless windowed mode in the .exe in v0.0.8 of the mod, christ
you won't believe how many people I've had message me about it not working at all, and then eventually after talking about it back and forth I find that hey instinctively went borderless windowed mode because that's what they always ran the game at, or because they thought it would work better that way
even the judges did it
most people aren't even aware the mod works because of that
and because borderless windowed mode is broken 99% of the time, until we find a fix for it, or until DX9, maybe just disable it
Maybe I'll make two .exes and both will be included with the mod, but the only difference is that
one for public (newbies that don't know BWM doesn't work) and one for whoever wants to try BWM, or for development/testing purposes
thats definitely the case because thats what I do with most of my games, usually fullscreen makes it so when you tab out everything pauses and you have to wait a few seconds. Thats why I use borderless anyways to prevent that.
also using the website it gives me the exact same sky image so I really suggest using it for converting it to a cube map. Just make sure it's set to 90 degrees. You may need to rotate it but other than that it's the same.
according to the radio Wednesday is pizza day, So I really recommend you edit the chart to say something else when you get the time. Because the one I made is a little bit nonsense and I think could be improved. Unless you are fine with it thats okay, just a suggestion.

not in the current version of the game, but this image is used in older versions so why not. I think this is the original resolution since the oldest ones seems to be that res which his 700x772 . It looks kind of gory, I think it's just a guy covered in paint because its for a black metal band cover or something like that.

I was actually wondering about that tree just the other day
that one setting was able to stop the screens disappearing, I was even able to set the materials to "World Space UI texture" for all the screens (even the blitzmovie one) and it just worked, but it seems it's dev/debug option..
so my two questions for @fading fractal or the documentation is

Is it better to use "World Space UI Texture" over going into the toolkit and making them emissive with an emissive map? I ask this mainly because I've been having a lot of problems with the blitzmovie one, because it's technically an AVI played on the material, which RTX Remix can find a hash for, but struggles to change in anyway shape or form besides those quick texture categories.

i don't think emissive maps are the correct way to do this. world space ui texture seems correct
