Somewhere in parameter tuning go to lighting, and for the values on intensity make all the numbers the same value in the row
Or it might be the values in your volumetric lighting if that’s on
Adjusting the values changes the color of the light, I think that’s what’s happening

Minecraft themed maps have this issue alot, There was a ZM Minecraft map that was working fine but after I opened my game again like 30 mins later and launched the map again it started having this issue And I have no clue why or what caused it to work fine before, It felt like as if I saw a Dream and so confused

Everytime you reinstall it grabs the settings from the cloud, if nothing works disable cloud saving and clean install

Cloud is most likely using settings from previous pc, pretty sure you can override it with your current settings

Kinda has an effect on some maps when running into rooms, like the light isn't recognized until I step into a room or am close enough to it

I had this problem until I got the rtx Remix fixes addon then it stopped doing that, There's also a Suppress light option in Light Translation in parameters that should keep the lights on I think but it causes them to flicker.

yeah i tried to do a shitty fix with the fixes addon
it kinda works decently enough
supress light is pretty useful for doing realtime adjustments to lamps and lights, definitely makes posing for screenshots easier
though even with the rtx remix fixes addon and disabling suppress light, lights still are getting culled pretty up close. anything else to try?

Oh, yeah, it's because there are no meshes that "receive light" from the point of view of Source. So the engine culls it, and doesn't send any info about that light to the D3D9.
One solution would be put some dummy mesh underneath that light, so Source would submit the light to D3D9

Though I have another question, on some maps, all of the brush details are rendering just fine but some props are completely invisible and their textures do not show in the remix menu. I assume these models have materials with no fixed function fallback? Would it be as simple as editing the vtf file to fix it?
Actually I think I ran into this issue as well. If it is the same issue then yes, all you have to do is make sure that the addon you're using has the dx80 versions of every model vtf and that'll fix it.
If it's built into the map I don't think you could do much without the original map file, unless you're good with recompiling maps for Source.
That's how I ended up finally fixing the Cry of Fear prop textures/models. Couldn't fix any of the invisible props that were directly placed in the COF maps though.

Hardly any games are actually open-source, and few have even been reverse-engineered.
I honestly feel like NVidia kinda cheated for Portal with RTX.
Having source code access, distributing a modified version of the engine, even for minimal integration (Non-native RTX), still allows for things that are otherwise impossible or impractical.
And having a purpose-built version of RTX Remix just for Source, too.
How many other games will realistically get that special treatment?
Sure, there could be improvements to RTX Remix that benefit one game more than others, but not many people will fork Remix so that it's specifically targetted to their desired game.

Hmm, there might be some detail textures on the floor or walls. Sometimes graffiti or impact/smoke is a texture added, I categorize them as decals and it usually fixes it

from what i think, "props" arent meshes, but rather physics objects that contain meshes, so when you seperate it out (which is a side effect of primitive) you get meshes with hashes that only corrospond to the meshes properties, (size, shape, etc)
so basically props are unable to become instances
but primatives are

the difference is that props arent exactly meshes
props are their own thing
primitive just attaches a mesh onto an object, and fakes the collision
looking closely, i think the entire scene is skewed, which is why the portals look the way they do

its all path traced, no need for ambient occlusion. the issue is that every materal looks like its been mopped so there is no soft diffuse light bounces to fill in any shadows

I'm guessing it's because of the physics model it uses, but i could be very wrong. Would explain why func_physboxes work, given i don't think those use Vphysics

i think it's how source renders certain types of meshes/models, in this video i converted a prop into a mesh and the geometry hash became stable
we need some kind of way to convert props to meshes. maybe add some kind of lua script to the rtx remix addon?

we just need an addon to do this automatically for all props in a map
So :
- Learn how primitive works,
make an addon that : - replace all props with prop2mesh copy of themselves,
- Make old one invisible cuz Prop2mesh has no collision
the only issue with prop2mesh is that the copied mesh has no collision at all
so maybe just attach the mesh on top of the existing prop and hide the original prop
i think there is a transparent material in gmod, ez workaround ig
materials dont work with dx7, you need to change the texture of the actual prop. an easier option is to set the prop RGBA to 0
and now i'm thinking that this won't work as soon as a props moves

why do only some of the reflections work ? i did everything right 😭
if not, it ends up being like this (no reflections i think)
debug view is on but it doesn't change what it looks like when i turn it off and on aswell
and whenever i try using flashlight it just freezes the entire game
also, if i delete game shader, it crashes after/during loading

yep, it added a patches file, and then I did as the video said, which was overwriting the existing files.
and I just redid it right now to be sure it was actually there.

Arghh, the one I was thinking of had a different blue screen looking issue. I'm off to bed, but I'll take another look at it in the morning and see if I can help. In the meantime, try other maps and firing your gun if that effects anything.
Here'x my dxvk.conf file and rtx.conf if you want to try those incase it's some setting issue
whenever you're back online, just so you know, those files didnt really change anything, ALTHOUGH, my dvxk file was a text file, not a conf, now it's a conf, it seems everything BUT the rtx is working 😭
also, for whom is able to help at this time, am I meant to have the files in here such as "client.zip/client.dll and agame_shader_generic_garrysmod? cause you're meant to delete game shader, which I have, and after alot of shit, it's letting me in, but there's no menu

And did you put it in the bin folder where the exe is

fudge sorry, took another look and can't find anywhere you're missing or messed up it all looks perfect. Guess all I can recommend is starting over and redoing everything

when you say bin folder, you made adjustments to THIS bin folder right?

yeah, I removed game shader from garrysmod>garrysmod>bin
and I did add the trex stuff into the garrysmod>bin
Nahh mine are off as remix adds in shadows through pathtracing, enabling them would just add double shadows.
Here's my bin folder, I noticed you have a couple of more d3d9 files in yours, idk if they're important, but you might want to try moving them to a temp folder and running the game and seeing if that does anything?
(I accidentally added a dxvk.conf file in my bin folder, it doesn't do anything as it should be in the main directory but I just let it sit there lol)

yep, I did
it was failing to add some things into the patches folder though
but i did put the bin and garrys mod file where they were meant to be
that's probably what the problem is, if you run the applypatches.bat and it gives you the "patched" folder, moving the bin and garrysmod folder into the main directory should overrite and fix everything

i've installed RTX remix fixes, but it still doesn't work
It's giving me a error when I run the script in the terminal, so I don't think everything from the
"patches" folder is getting added
but the patches folder does show up.
The patches are not necessary
It should boot up with only remix files and the command line and the lua menu only

the dxvk.conf is pretty much a text file, just type d3d9.shaderModel = 0 in dxvk.conf, simplest way to do this is open it with your favorite text program

Pushed an update to RTX Remix fixes,
made the light updater better and more efficient
fixes almost all light flickering
you can even crank rtx_experimental_lightupdater_count to 256 and turn on "supress light keeping" and there will still be no flickering
doing the above also means lights that do turn off don't linger

Had a hunch they were using shaders for grass
