Heyo if you never got help make sure you're not on the x64 branch, I was running into the same issue earlier because I forgot too opt out of it.
Deleted my initial issue because I solved it but I ran into another. For some reason despite my several uninstalls today Reshade is still latching onto my game despite the files being completely deleted.
It's confusing because it's a fresh install and even if the d3d9 dll file was still there it was replaced by the RTX remix version.
I think that's the cause of RTX Remix literally flat out not functioning beyond the menu.
So once again would be willing too take this too DM's if anybody has any ideas, I don't understand how it's overtaking my RTX Remix DLL when it never was installed on my new installation of Garry's Mod too begin with. It shouldn't be possible.
did you do a global install of reshade for all vulkan games?
That's possible actually, I'm pretty sure I have tried installing reshade for vulkan at least once. I didn't realize it was global, I can probably fiddle with it and figure it out but by chance would you know how to go about uninstalling it in that case?

Yes, I've been using Reshade for years and am very familiar with it. I've uninstalled it and installed it several times for various games. The main thing is ridding of the .dll file that Reshade produces so I typically keep a copy of the original file just for that. Deleting the reshade shaders folder doesn't fully remove reshade itself, just the shaders and textures you installed.
That's why I'm so lost here but I think vulkan is my lead. Those screenshots look fantastic btw! I'm hyped too get this running!

Yup, I've followed Xenthio's video to a T.
I've read after a search Reshade does leave files elsewhere when installed with Vulkan so I'm searching through my computer right now for them.
Good news! I solved all of my issues.
Hopefully this'll help ppl in the future: Reshade Vulkan installs leave hidden files in ProgramData
And pertaining too the RTX Gmod won't launch with any overlays like Rivatuner or programs that alter resolution. Took me too long too figure out.
you make a text file write d3d9.shaderModel = 0

then rename the file to dxvk.conf
next to the gmod exe

I thought it was my RTX config so I reset it and still no fix, but any enhancements I use are just flat grey textures now? They worked at first just fine but now nothing is getting replaced properly

it has no speculars in the perfectly reflected mirror so theres nothing for the rays to hit when bouncing into the mirror
also, there aren't caustics

It would be good to see the interactions debug view with OMMs ON and off. Use "Enable binding" setting to toggle OMMs. See #1156250284230721547 message
Also what GPU are you ON. OMMs have larger impact on Ada (40** series)
If the grass is composed of batched geometry that changes frame to frame and thus the batch hash changes that will prevent OMMs to apply unless you stabilize that (i.e. don't move camera and wait 10-20 seconds for OMMs to generate). The interactions debug view will show if OMMs are having any impact. We plan on improving batched geo support for OMMs in the future, but it'd be good to know if that's the case here.
Note the OMM texture category is for disabling OMMs for a given texture so you don't want to be selecting it unless there's an issue.

What the point
gmod does have VAC but there isnt much reason to cheat in the majority of gamemodes and servers. Remix probably wont trigger VAC as its only hooking into d3d9 and not any game functions like a ASI loader would
the only source game exception i can think of was CSGO, it would not let you use d3d9.dll to inject anything
VAC is not enabled in gmod

VAC secure at this point is moreso steam authentication, due to how auth is rooted within VAC. The load screen doesn't even have the VAC secure stuff anymore for example
Having VAC on gmod is inherently against the idea of the platform, because you can make C++ modules, injectors, etc. Vac would split it's shit open if you tried

And I will need someone who will handle the Garry's mod game for the launcher
I will provide all the things for it
And will create a repo
What I mean is
( the launcher will have a custom repository list with the supported games, and the links will flow to the GitHub repositories with scripts to patch the game, and etc )
I will need someone who will handle the Gmod repo in the future

1 - I deleted that as the game is now launching at first try (for me) from now on
2 - The project ALEX has in mind is something else than a simple launcher script
What about another approach where there'll be playbooks which people can reference to the repos of their combination of patches & mods to play with. The launcher could switch between playbooks before launch and remastering projects could have their official playbooks

I think this a problem even without such feature. In what I had in mind, you don't expose commands or actions to execute, it just lists patches and mod combinations. It could have a verified signature or some sort of crowd sourced approach as a further security measure.

If you recompile the map replacing the mirror with a texture that the addon adds that is “mirror texture” written in ms paint
So I've been trying too work on these for a minute but no matter what I do the replacements make certain things look like "plastic". Nothing too serious, it's only guns and NPC's but this happens regardless of whether PBR is included or not.
Any ideas?

Did you use the correct compression mode?
8-bit color with DC7 compression as far as I'm aware is what is used, however this is me editing the PNG's directly in OctoTex so OctoTex is handling converting them back too .dds

I'll give resaving them a shot but this happens even when I just use the upscaled textures and use the default material settings that OctoTex uses, the max roughness and no metalness

I have been reading people talk about how skin would look weird with RTX Remix so that could simply be it. Doesn't necessarily explain why gun replacements look oddly plastic despite the roughness maps being properly set up.
I will say tho other than that Cry of Fear maps look pretty bomb after upscaling and setting up PBR, shame the monsters aren't a big fan of my handy work tho lmao

Appreciate it, I spent a couple days on just this map lmao. Not a big fan of the results of either the legacy or AI roughness maps but I worked out a super reliable method with Paint(.)NET, but that's awful for batch editing like this so it takes so much time.

And here's the roughness maps used. I kept the original one made by the legacy setting for the Kar98 thinking that'd might make a difference but they should by no means be shiny

As I know, the alpha channel of the normal in source is a roughness map
and alpha channel of diffuse is metallic map
So if I'm understanding right these would need too be transparent in order too apply properly?

Unfortunately after a bit of testing that didn't end up working out, not entirely sure what could be going on with these cause map textures work just fine. Too be fair I haven't tried doing anything with any other NPC's other than the Cry of Fear ones tho I imagine the same issue would occur, and same thing with the guns I only went out of my way too try the Arc9 set but I'll bet the Half Life 2 weapons would come out looking the same way. Shame cause they look fine by default after setting the legacy metalness too 1 in Remix itself cause the same thing occurs until you change that.
Yikes, I had hope these newer versions of the bridge and dxvk wouldn't demolish my performance but does anyone know why the newest version just guts my framerate? There's like a 10% loss of performance and I can't fathom why.

Absolutely. I loaded into the same map as a control and on the newest versions I dropped around 10 frames on average. Hanging around 20FPS. On the version that was the newest when Xenthio dropped his video I run just fine at 30-40FPS which for my GPU isn't surprising. I'm not the only one with this issue either though I got a Youtube comment on one of my showcases asking why my performance was beating his on a 3060Ti

I think I see what you mean lmao. I update my Remix to the latest one every time I boot the game. The first two screenshots is a map area I've been to a few times and not had any missing textures issues - and I've not really configured many of the textures since visiting. I do notice if I move around and adjust the camera, they'll fade in and be visible, and go away if I move again.
The other two are maps from half life: source. Same thing, I move the camera about and they appear/disappear randomly
But who knows, I load up Construct Fix map and everything's fine
looks like there are detail textures that you need to set to be ignored
you can copy all the ignored textures from my config file to make it easier if you want

I don't see what benefit RTX could have in photoscan maps, anyway. All the lighting is already baked, and they're effectively unplayable due to the small space they make.
You can't get better lighting than actual photos from reality.

put it in GarrysMod/rtx-remix/mods (if there isnt a mods folder create one)/ and just paste the zip file in it. then just enable Enhancments in the remix menu bam RT water

I think that's due to the 3d sky I disable it( The new Camera option below Sky Parameter) and it stops doing that
And yes it's a old problem, Experienced it in CSS when the Camera options that fixed the 3d skyboxes were added for the first time

i seem to get 40 fps in this map now as compared to 70 in the old remix version for some reason
portal rtx version runs alot better than current with anti culling patches

no. Open remix go to game settings and under sky parameters you will see a new option saying something about camera just set it to none or off. this basically fixes the 3d sky box well almost but can cause things like when entering a new room almost everything suddenly disappears for a split second and it does that everytime until you disable it.

Yep! Rtx remix does work but it's unstable. I managed to launch it for a few hours and the next day, the game couldn't boot, with the VRAM issue
