#Slows down entire system

Hello!
Every game i've tried adding RTX remix to has slowed down my entire system to an extreme degree within the first 10 seconds of launching the game

I've followed the directions on the GitHub for per-game setup, but I'm assuming I still did something wrong.

The games I've tried are L4D2 and HL2 which are confirmed working (albeit unstable)

Any suggestions?

You're going to need to post a lot more info than that for anyone to be able to help you.

  1. what hardware are you on
  2. does Portal RTX work for you?
  3. what conf settings are you using, if any.

L4D2 is definitely not compatible, and HL2 takes a lot of effort to get anywhere with. You should probably look at some of the threads in https://discord.com/channels/1028444667789967381/1055020377430048848 - most of the active ones will have descriptions for how to get the game up and running

Thank you for replying.

I'm currently running an I7 8700k, 24GB DDR4 and an RTX 3070

Portal RTX works perfectly for me with no issues

And I haven't made enough progress to change any configurations from default

To be clear, when I say "compatible" I mean more functional than almost instantly slowing down my entire system to the point of requiring a reboot via hardware

Sorry for the initially vague post

When you open the Remix menu, it should show how much vram you're using. You can also find that in the task manager. Could you see if you're running out?

I unfortunately can not. The system slows down and freezes before I can get through the valve splash screen cinematic.
I don't have enough time to open the Remix menu or tab out to check task manager

Have you gone through the setup steps outlined in the HL2 thread?
Also, you can add -novid to the launch command to skip the opening cinematic

#

and add -window so you can still see the task manager on the side. I launch with HL2.EXE -console +sv_cheats 1 -novid -window -w 1920 -h 1080 -x 0 -y 0 most of the time

I have a second monitor I can set up to view the task manager, I just don't normally use it because it's 4:3

I'll run it using those parameters and see what I can record

I'm not quite sure why, but definitely thank you for your help
