#Can't get this to work at all

So I download the RTX-Remix thing, unzip it, go into the folder, paste content of the folder next to the game's executible, run the game, press Alt+X and you're ready to turn on Ray Tracing!

Well when I do that, absolutely nothing happens! I've tested with TF2 and Postal 2, two games that are on the compatibility list. Is there some step I'm missing?

There's been a bunch of good info posted on this discord - check out the threads in remix-projects for games that people have gotten working, often with instructions for running them.

You can also check out this thread, for some general guidance.

In particular, this page discusses what types of games have a decent chance of working with Remix:

In general though, I'd advise you temper your expectations. Remix is not meant to be a drop-in-and-use product - it's a tool that lets modders create RTX mods, but it takes a lot of work and configuration to get it to a state where the game is actually enjoyable.

#

If all you want to do is drop it into a game and play, you should wait for game-specific mods to start coming out - several people are already getting started on those for various games.

@rapid bone just letting you know
In source engine games you have to put it in the bin folder

#

Some games do the same thing

#

Sooo

#

You gotta try it out

#

Also dont use the bridge with 64bit games

#

Use the insides of the trex folder instead

#

Also some games use dx8 which isnt supported
You have to use a wrapper from dx8todx9

What is a wrapper? And I tried to drop it in the bin for TF2, but that just caused the game not to launch.

What you're seeing on youtube are progress updates of people trying to figure out how to make it compatible. Not trailers for things that are actually ready to use.

The rest of your question is answered in depth in the links I posted, you should read over them.

I figured people were just being elitist jerks and being all "Look at all this raytracing I can do! You peasants wish you could trace rays!"

I mean I got this new card to do raytracing, and while I appreciate that it makes everything run a bit smoother, I am disappointed to see that only a small handful of games can raytracing and all the wonderufl "X with Raytracing!" vids on Youtube are just proof of concept, and nothing you can actually use.

I don't regret my purchase (Going from 1660 to 4070 is a noticable difference even without RTX, and the few games I've seen that actually utilize RTX look AMAZING), but you can understand the disappointment in this issue.

I hope you can also understand some of our frustration - we're working on a tool to create mods with, but the message people keep hearing is that it's a mod they can drop in anywhere. Then they come on here and get angry that Remix doesn't have drop in functionality like Reshade or other long established modding tools.

Over the next few months / years, Remix will be used to create mods for various games that you will be able to drop in and play through. If you're interested in helping to make that happen, this server is where you want to be.

If you just want to use those mods when they come out, I'm sure they'll get press and publicity as they're made, at least for the first few.

I definitely understand, miscommunications and common misunderstandings rarely lead to happy outcomes for any of the parties involved. Know that as annoyed as I may be about this, I'm not unsympathetic to your side of the equation nor do I blame any specific member of the NVidia staff for what seems to just be a simple misunderstanding.

@rapid bone some games have to be modifed in order to work

#

For example in source engine games you have to revert back to directx7

#

And enter a long command line
