particles in underground 2 for example are multiple meshes
which then get scaled over time by the game engine

@jade briar it fixed. got a little bit of a crash issue and response time for rtx to function between which dlss option it uses.
i reloaded the game @jade briar the issue did not repeat. however, the fmvs for the game will not load. (about the lighting or driving issue) it loaded like call of duty 2. could not see around any corner. next i think i see a bad contrast issue to dark from heavy lights. i will try to turn off fxaa in the nvidia menu and turn down contrast with rtx hdr.
Is there any way to improve or increase the headlights’ illumination on settings? In some races, the dark spots make it really hard to see, sometimes I only notice a traffic vehicle when it’s like 2 feet in front of me. I don’t know if it’s a loading issue, but occasionally I crash into a car and suddenly the headlights light it up as if the car just "rendered"

same issue repeats. RTX mod from 0.4 will not run fmvs for the game story in game. black screens but will play the audio file from the videos. any settings to change?

Unless you use Nvidia profile inspector revamped to change the RTX HDR quality to low, the dithering crushes blacks completely.
Just in case anyone else notices, the tail lights have a bit a bad contrast. also dlss frame gen is almost unusable. black pixel spots show on the screen like steam boat willie just abducted rtx remix.

I coming to you guys because I have a problem. I have downloaded the NFSU2 Remix mod (0.4) but when I m in the game every light is white. The problem seem to come from the RayTracing because when I disable it the color come back.
I can't find an answer to this problem online, do you have any idea where this can come from ?

You can mess with the dlss settings. The default config is set to quality which isn't really recommended for most GPUs

Anyone tested this with an RX 9060XT 16GB? How does it perform?
with dlss 3.5 or 4 probably not much different than a 4070 super. at 4k the latency is terrible. the frame gen adds 10-15 fps. 4k60fps is hard to do unless you half the refresh rate.

As you can see in the photos, I'm having problems with jagged edges, and in the background you can see a grainy effect in the game that disappears when I activate DLSS. I'd like to know how to fix it.
The tire smoke becomes all pixelated.
- Those jagged edges appear because you don't have any anti aliasing enabled.
- You're enabling dlss multi frame gen, not upscaling.
Even after following the instructed procedure, the problem of some checkered textures persists.
Those are old textures which haven't been replaced yet.

Headlights should work. If not, then check game settings and make sure they match the recommend ones

Hello, my setup is an RTX 5070 Ti, Ryzen 5 5600x, 16GB of RAM, and even so I can't get more than 30-40 FPS with DLSS in quality mode. If I disable frame generation, the game becomes unplayable, not to mention that it's using more CPU than GPU.
If you have a scripts folder, open it and delete or move the anti culling script from the folder

Just drag and drop. There's no gurantee that other mods will be compatible. Start with installing remix in a clean copy of the game and maybe try installing your mods one by one.
We're so doomed with the fact this game happens in night time to be honest. All of this ray-tracing really wins from the good ambient light source, which is ideally a sunlight. At least you can always tweak settings a little to get a cool looking picture in the daytime.

Actually, I tested it with a random installation that I got from websitesss (without mods), but I have the original CD and the patch, so I'll try to do a new installation later.

Anyway, I noticed that an old NFSU2 installation was messing up my registry entries, so I chose "WriteSettingsToFile = 1". This way, I was able to remove all registry entries and save the game settings in "settings.ini".

No, I didn’t get any good results. I tested the "rtx.conf" files sent by EAWorld, but I had the same results as you. I did a new clean installation, directly from the two original NFSU2 discs. Applied patch 1.1 and then patch 1.2, adjusted the graphics according to the pinned image, but same results

imo, the lights on the street should be more warm. for a game that is in 2004 those look like really bright leds lol
Some cars have lighting aome don't for example the tiburon v6 stock taillights don't work but some aftermarket ones do work

They all do, seriously. But harsh dlss and denoiser settings can clamp them a ton. At least the furthest thing you can see is the light on the road from them, as those sources are the biggest there
Red are the smallest light sources, and orange is bigger and does all the surrounding illumination work
The only in-game settings I changed were the brightness and enabling DLSS Frame Generation.
Everything else is set according to the recommended settings listed on the mod’s ModDB page.
May be you can make a screenshot where you feel like traffic light is missing. Will help a lot

i recently gave the rtx. conf a try. it gained a lot light from the road lamps but the darkness has overtaken the roads. very blurred. i would to change that in the conf file but i would need to be shown.

It is mostly caused by the ray amount not catching such a small light source in the headlight. And we have a separate source for actual light cone in front of car, which creates a well visible reflection
Noise cancelling is the issue here and it can be fixed with some settings tweaking

No no, not the LODs are the issue. You can imagine like 1 light ray only intersecting the camera from that source, and this 1 little ray is clustered by denoiser

Well think about this. Even I had a stable core, the parts on the car still change around. I could put on a different hood or a different bumper. Suddenly the coat mesh is different from the actual mesh

it would disapear when you change so you'll have a showcar car and every other car that has the exact same issue you currently have, but you'd still have the showcase car

- similar system to carbon where a bunch of per paint type options like roughness/metalness are exposed and automatically applied or do you guys require actual stable hashes because you actually need to set custom roughness/metalness on the paint? If the later, I'm not sure how what information to use to create a stable hash .. because what would I do if there is the same car in the scene a second time?
Well culling is one thing.
I believe eman used his ai tools to get rid of frustum culling but yes. That's an issue.
The car paints use similar materials. Glossy/metal/pearl etc.
At the start of the race, if the game is not running in ff fallback mode, you see a small cutscene with crouds of people. It's very much a staple of the underground games and I'd love to see them back.
Car hashes are unstable. The mesh remains perfectly stable until you change the car parts at which point every piece gets randomized.
- I'd try to make culling a little more adjustable and only disable whats actually needed to save on drawcalls
- So configurable options for car paint would be enough? If so, I can completely ignore the changing texture hash, right?

As long as the materials look right, texture hashes are fine if randmised
imo the lighting needs to be manually placed or increase the headlight distance so it actually works. Some places like the mountain are really dark. BUT these are issues since the last time i played (last year) idk if it got any updates

Well the game most likely rebuilds the vertex buffer for the car to include the new part. So in order to fix that, a vb with just the base case is needed, then buffers for each tuning addon. I'll most likely not look into that

He made that vibe-reverse-engeneering tool. Just tell it what you want to achieve and where the game .exe is and it will try to do it for ya.
I think so. The game does some draw call batching of the whole car so parts of the car are rendered in different draw calls, and it is not even a logical separation like bumpers/doors, just a polygon count hard cut so some parts are all jagged triangles.
Someone would have to disable draw call batching and let the game push individual draw calls per part (bumpers, hood, windows, door...)

if without frame gen, put game v-sync on.
if frame rate is less than expected, put half refresh rate for a smoother 30fps gameplay.
