Gonna give some advice: if the instructions don't specify, default to doing whatever would make the most sense. They wouldn't give you files not to use them, so you overwrite. If it doesn't say to delete something, don't delete it

if you install the one from the pinned message (the modding website) and then go to update remix the game just turns into a black screen
also the alt + x menu also breaks
you have to spam click something fo rit to actually register
Now that the main parts are unwrapped we are applying the subdivs and then cleaning it again
It is really smoothing out well
Should hopefully transfer well to rtx. There were some errors but with our skill that is as much as we can clean without messing up the mesh

Edges getting sharper. There are some errors which with the next model we make we will learn from but we want to just wrap this one up. When we do the interior we can put what we learnt into practice. Slowly the extra detail and cleaner lines and shading is showing ok enough. Well as good as our skill allows us
We have to update the UV's as we go along but we are noticing the difference and how all the details not previously seen are now showing making the car more realistic

Take a looks here. That's a mesh_hash debug view. Anything with consistent color between instances is stable_hash while others are dynamic_hash. You can swap models for Stable only as of now

You should try to fix those pinching (shading) issues during the modeling process. You don't need to wait until after the modeling is done to fix the shading. It would be more efficient to address the problems while you're still modeling. That way, you'll know what's causing the issues earlier on.

Try to avoid having "poles" on curved surfaces as much as you can. On a flat plane, you can do crime ( triangles or n-gons). However, that's still not the best approach for UV mapping when using subD modelling.

With remix by default there were some tunnels I couldn't see anything but by tons of experimenting with the eyadaptation and adaptive tonemapping in both remix and reshade I was able to get visibility without making everything else way too bright. It would be cool though if someone knows how to make the headlights (player only) brighter and farther reaching for stuff like that
You gotta adjust them in remix unless you are talking like toggling high beams

There are limits to items you can replace, because of how remix does its work building scene - they're Dynamic Hash objects. They refresh the linked replacement every now and then. For our project, dynamic hash objects appeared to be most of the car parts, except wheels, headlights/rearlights and emblems. But the majority of environment objects are not dynamic. Though you have to keep in mind that some assets are reused across the game world, and when you replace one things which got instances in other places, they get replaced as well

Yeah, this aspect didn't change. You have limited parts of hero cars available for replacement, like car lights, emblems, wheels and rims. But apart from that, you have almost all the surrounding game world available to work on

Hello! I am running NFSU2 with the latest RTX Remix files but I barely get 10-20 fps on RTX 3060

The UE5 one is a legal minefield. If they want to keep the same feel of the game - they have to use copyrighted assets (music, car brands, etc) and risk getting taken down.
Remix is a safer bet, because it's essentially just a mod that runs on top of the original game, keeping the original intact and just adding updated models/textures/lighting.
In my humble onion - the remix version is the one to look forward to and is much safer in terms of legality.
IIRC, if you use quixel/fab assets under indie license and your game ends up reaching 100,000 (I think) revenue, the landmine explodes and you need to upgrade each asset to the pro/plus/more/epic/whatever license

Many assets from stores like these come with transparent textures because they're meant for raster pipelines, so it is not a plug n play all the time

This mod works fine on a RTX3050 [4GB VRAM] with Ryzen 5 5600, But only with DLSS set on Ultra Performance [Stable 60fps], or Performance [around 30fps, still playable]. I could send you a video where you can see this in action, if you want.

I'd highly recommend moving straight into DCC of your choice. You can easily import .usd model, apply transforms etc and adjust your models to the scale and stuff

Let's imagine you want to replace a staircase next to trash pile there.
- Model/import from anywhere your fresh and new staircase exactly in the place where it is in this imported Captured Scene. This way you will keep the position offset and scale the same as in the capture.
- Do all your texturing following basic PBR setup. Thankfully as texture editing was available from the start of project, we had time to compose a little guide on how you manage them here. All the texture parameters are listed in the guide as well. Though keep in mind that you don't need to setup shader inside Blender. Remix has its own shader and you will use it to plug your textures in.
- Export your model and textures in .obj/.fbx and .png/.dds format. You have a conversion tool built-in into Remix app. I usually use it for model converting. But as for textures, I use Photoshop or chaiNNer(for batch export).
- Now all which is left is to import your models. You have 3 main options basically - with Remix App, USD Composer or with text-editing the .usda. And this step seriously varies depending on which way you take. What you have showed with a cube demo, is a Remix way. With all the scaling and position already handled in your Export phase, all you will need to change is simply orientation. Or XForm Rotation param. After that you just select that mesh inside imported XForm and add a new material to it, where you can plug all your textures in. But for new user it won't be smooth as I described, so don't expect it to behave

Open your project file (like NFSU2.usda), mod.usda or active modding layer (like meshreplacement.usda) with text editor, look for the upAxis setting, make sure it's set to: upAxis = "Z"
up axis already set to upAxis = "Z"
even with those settings z is not up
both in remix and composer
Make sure you set Z-up in rtx.conf as well, rtx.zUp = True, and you need to make a new scene capture after changing these settings. Old captures won't work right.

It was playable and Enjoyable on DLSS Performance [but stable 60fps was only in Ultra Performance], maybe it could now run better thanks to the newer Remix version, maybe someday i'll check it out again.

i was going to get the 4070 super if im not mistaken but at the time they ran out of stock and the only RTX available at the time was either too weak or way above of what i could afford

Ah. This is a remix issue. For some reason it randomly assigns the wrong texture to a hero vehicle. I have no idea why this happens

Its caused by the game engine cause it doesnt utalize normals maps. That way the roads get reflective

nope it does, it literally has setting for it. YES textures are blurry, but when u actually drive - u can see light sources reflect on asphalt.

rain effect needs some love, also all traffic needs emmisive headlights - in distance or any dark place u cannot see it coming, especially during race. (just like early versions of mod)
Traffic light visibility is something to be resolved with how glass is rendered in combination with noise reduction. But compared to previous versions, there is a clearly visible reflection from lights casted. Also check completely dark areas and you will see difference more clear

Make a fresh install of your game. So completely clean. No mods.
Download the mod from the official link (pinned in the channel) and install it that way.
I just did and the game is now running without problems, but I still have one question, is it normal that the Nissan 240SX has no taillights?
They do not light up and are not even in the body of the vehicle
That is something to be fixed with Remix updates in the future. Unstable mesh in that place simply covers the light source ๐
