So simply search your hardware testing that game with path tracing and you can expect pretty much the same results here

okay so basically someone told me about the nvidia bridge application and they told me about this launcher the rtx remix. i asked if i need that since well when you open the game it tells you to press alt x anyways so do i need to use rtx remix downloader before the game?
Every file in the mod folder is necessary; we don't include any useless files. Simply run the game executable file. Have you encountered any issues with the game?
so the only issues i ran into is fps drops stays at 60 for 30 mins and then drops. my cpu runs at like 70% when playing the game but my vram is only at 4gbs i have a 3060ti 12 gb so idk
The mod already includes the "RTX Remix" file, so you don't need the "RTX Remix Downloader." However, if you want to update Remix to the latest build, the "RTX Remix Downloader" allows for easy downloading without the need to log in to GitHub or go through extra steps to obtain the latest build.

This project is in a very early stage, and we're still in the trial-and-error phase. Nothing has been optimized yet. The performance drop may be caused by certain transparency textures from the original game. However, I believe that if we replace more assets in the game, the performance drop might increase further. This is because we'll be replacing high-resolution textures and meshes with higher polygon counts.
i am willing to wait for sure though i think for what it is now it looks fantastic maybe soon ill get a better GPU but so far i love it. all the hard work put into it is amazing!

The frame gen crashes are related to msi afterburner/riva tuner
With the latest buiöd from moddb everything should work.
Elsewise you need to update remix manually

For this project we make everything from scratch
The issue is that often, AI upscaling models use a lot of artists' copyright arts to be trained without their consent, so there is a lot of heated discussion about it throughout the community, and it usually produces very bad results for many usecases, while we want to really get our hands dirty with the craft of authoring remastered assets for the project, without relying on "lazy" ways of doing it 😉
So it is more of a philosophical issue
We also have a lot of very talented artists on our team
So we really don't need to rely on ethically questionable methods when the team is capable of making things ourselves

If you mean, no reflections, yeah, we're working on solutions but since the player can customize the car texture, we can't simply lock into them and set them to be shiny, so all cars are matte just like that

Hey all, new here. I got the game installed last night, it runs. Is there a "guide" for optimal video settings/RTX settings in the alx-x menu? It seems like some videos I have seen online, the road textures look amazing. But mine did not look very good, and like the roads kept loading in. I followed the video install guide from the git and it was a clean install. I have not changed any settings yet in the alt-x menu. If I overlooked this on the git, sorry in advance. Once I get home I'll be experimenting with settings, but just was curious if there was a "list" somewhere.

lol nah, nothing to do with remix I think. You can disable remix and play vanilla game by renaming d3d9.dll to anything else to test it out

That means a lot of things will change in future. Like some of you know i was someone who made the lighting and mainly the main menu garage. In the next release i will provide a highly modified version of the main menu garage. You wouldnt trust your eyes.

i will be honest about something here and it may be a unpopular opinion of mine or may not be my place but as much i respect kuru and alot of other creators sharing their criticism towards helping the project get better. i think the only thing that matters is what you guys are doing with this project. i do not see anyone else taking the time not even EA to give us a remaster so why wait if you guys are already 10 steps ahead. it may not finish tomorrow or maybe next month but when its finish it will be glorious. its about you guys and your time invested in the remix project. again all respect to the creators i respect their opinions.
That is my point. Is not that we don't care about criticism. Both constructive and destructive ones are point data for the project and we do listen. Basically:
- We're figuring out a lot of workflows to make things happen, so we do mess up a lot
- Art direction is an ongoing effort that keeps updating and living as long as a project is active
- We have time and passion for it, so one time or another it will get there
- It is quite cheap and cheesy to drop a "based" comment saying "not equal original, raytracing bad, art direction booo" and everyone goes "
". Ofc, it is called "mod" for a reason, but we do understand the game's intention, and with time reiterating points 1 and 2 👆 we'll get there, it just takes a lot of effort and research to understand the tools and limitations to play with what we have
So please, keep your feedbacks coming. They're really important for us

I think what IGN and similar sites did is very misleading. They put up a video without much explanation. And IGN even compares it to the PS2 version, which I can't really understand why (but i understand,to make the difference even more visible). Yes, this mod looks horrible in its current form, but I know that the mod is in very early form, but I don't think anyone who watches an IGN video realizes that. Also these gamer magazines, by showing really weird looking rtx mods to the public, they encourage modders to make some horrible looking rtx mods for games fast.
I think the only major grudge is the odd looking matte material on all car surfaces which is already solved by one of the modders
ofc more work is required to make the vinyls and decals look good but that requires more research and development

You're right about new light mesh replacements. They will fix unnatural look of lights. But even then, we will keep the "actual working" lights in their current place and just add another set of dim lights in their IRL positions because of overexposure issue. Also keep in mind, modelling this stuff is super time consuming and we got only default lights for starter cars somewhat ready for now. Custom lights will probably be postponed till the very end

So, uh... Sometime ago i returned to this game after a long time, and when i Heard that music, i had to make a video with it. And because i'm really into RTX-Remix, i decided to make it with this mod [i only added reflections using instructions posted by Hemry]. Because of my Not powerful enough RTX3050m GPU [and because i recorded it only in 720p, silly me but whatever], the results are... "Not great not terrible", but in this kind off game where you're mostly driving at 200Km/h, it's sometimes hard to notice [at least for me], even with DLSS turned on Performance/Ultra Performance mode. Actually, the lights which only show up when you're close enough to them [anti-culling at 100 lights somewhat helps with them flickering] were a Bigger problem for me to drive with, rather than on what setup i was playing this mod. Anyways I did I followed the instructions but when I get to the title screen the game is super stuttering.
I don't remember this being a issue when I had a 3060 ti on version 0.2 of the mod and now I got a 4080.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes I got the newest drivers and I extracted the remix 0.3 folder and copy pasted all the contents to the games .exe

In-between the stutters it says I have over 800fps.
Although it shouldn't be sense my control panel I set a limit to 117fps
when the engine renders above 120fps withouth remix it will give you a slow motion
so yeah, you have in to set FPSLimit = 0 in widescreenfix and widescreenmode = 4

Alright in control panel I set max fps to 60fps and turned on vsynch and I have the same result.

i have a 4080 and im getting 70 - 80fps with dlss quality
Clean install.
I figured there would be a few changes so I deleted the whole folder and did a clean install from the 2 disc's.
Only thing a changed was I got the 1.2 patch and a noCD.exe so I didn't have to pull out the cd every time.
OK so one video is NFS without the rtx mod. The other is with it u can hear the slow down and stuttering.
The third is a issue I had back when I had a 3060 ti on 0.2 build that had been resolved.
Don’t set things like that in the control panel. And definitely don’t turn on vsync.
Use the widescreen fix to set the fps cap

Dlss: custom didn't I'm assuming that's the default that came with the folder.
Background: wallpaper engine and whatever windows has.
Just the 3.0 release from moddb. Extracted that and put into the nfs folder where the speed2.exe is located.

Actually, i had the same error on some crack [But i applied the patch that Auto installs itself before replacing exe], but when i clicked OK, the game runned fine anyway
Also, used Europe version of the game if that makes any difference
It launches the game with the noCD.exe but not with the 1.2.exe the patch creates.
I just can't get the game to stop stuttering and I don't know what the exact issue even is.
I've gone through it a few times now and nothing.
The vanilla game works fine its only after I extract from the rtx folder that it stutters hard.
Did you tried disabling or lowering some settings? Like, the quality of Particles, Textures, DLSS, etc.? Or, maybe the cause lies within the Wallpaper engine somehow? Also, i remember using Windows 10 patch to the game, after installing the 1.2 patch, because without it the game didn't even wanted to run on 10 or 11. Anyway, i just replaced the exe which the patch created [didn't even know it replaced it], and no issues. Weird, didn't had this issue when i tried it on my 3050, but for obvious reasons i use DLSS on Performance, and it doesn't stutter at all.
See funny enough I didn't have this issue when I had a 3060 ti when the mod was in the 0.2 phase.
I'll try some more stuff later.
The only suggestions u made that I haven't tried was quitting wallpaper engine.
I turned off all the enhancements in the remix menu where I could with how stuttering it was.

So, maybe your game is just not for some weird reason loading the Widescreen fix, and without it the game Weirds out and causes stutters?
Didn't work unfortunately. I'm pretty stumped man.
Only thing I can think of trying is to try out a different rtx remix game to see if the same issue persists or not.
If you have/own Legacy of kain: Blood Omen 2 or Defiance (the second one is often fairly cheap on steam, the first one requires using "revamped" dll wrapper to work), then they are easy to open with rtx remix, so you can try running them and seeing if the issue persists. Source games should also work out of the box (i think). You could also maybe try downloading the newest release of rtx-remix runtime from github, and replacing the older version from the mod with it, just to see if this will change anything. I could also send you my rtx.conf for this game (or even send you my whole game but that would take a lot of time xd), which maaaybe will help you or not, but not today, maybe tomorrow, don't have access to it rn. Aside from that, i'm also all out of ideas on how to help you.

The card isn't bad, but remix uses full path tracing. It requires a very beefy computer to run smoothly

If you come across any strange shiny surfaces in the game, please send me the texture hash. I can add it to my Python script and generate a new "rough_only.usda" file. I accidentally deleted the entire RTX-Remix folder previously. I captured the entire scene in one night, but there's a possibility that I may have missed some areas or forgotten to capture certain parts. That's why the texturehash is not included in the "rough_only.usda" file.
Set everything high and use DLSS on performance, you can live with it. Also, turn on Anti culling lights, and set it to max 100 lights.

You probably don't have Direct lighting enabled in Remix settings, or the Indirect one. Or, it's just probably the enviroment and you should drive someplace else. lul

the runtime captures assets and generates hashes for everything so that they can all be replaced consistently, and as such the game and assets within it must be the same for this system to work
that is not to say mods won't work at all, in a vanilla Remix instance you can add gameplay changing mods, and you can of course start a Remix project specifically for a mod pack or full game edit
Because rtx remix works on the following principle - generated hashes for assets, according to the rules described in the file mod.usda make changes to the assets - replacing geometry, adding pbr textures and light sources, after making all the necessary replacements, the scene is sent to render. Mods that replace in-game cars and other assets have other hashes, which are not described in mod.usda in any way and, accordingly, are processed in accordance with the default settings, which, of course, exist solely for something to work somehow.

Sooo, here's the progress with light replacement so far...
I know you can't really tell, but this plan is a failure. Not just because I spent 4 months remaking just a set for 5 cars, but because most of them can not be imported correctly. Main reason - 'lights replacement' mesh intersects with 'car' mesh, effectively cutting off parts of 'light' one. I'll sure post a little video with all of the details about it, but in general - lights can't be replaced without ability to replace car meshes(and now we can't do anything about it). I mean, 90% of front lights can be replaced actually, but they do look fine in base game after all... And only around 10% of rear lights are replaceable now due to car mesh intersections 🥲

Every 3d model has a unique geometry hash. Remix looks for the hashes and sees if there's a replacement asset for that hash. Adding mods will not only break models, but also textures since car mods will have their own unique textures. This goes for any other mod like different road textures.
so the hash is not related in any way to the internal geometry names, like, I remember making cars For nfsmw and the model names where like KIT00_BODY_LOD0 or something similar. If we replace geometry but keep the names (which is a must anyway) the game will break?

Dudes! just found out that this setting - rtx.vertexColorStrength = 1 - preserves the original light colors, like for neon, shop signs and race icons!
for some reason I was able to use this mod just fine, but now the game instantly crashes to desktop after loading it.
If I remove the d3d9.dll/dinput8.dll files from the folder the game starts (tho obviously without widescreenfix and no rtx remix)

Basically the whole game, including the environment has lighting data baked into it already through its vertex colours right, this means that when we add the new path traced lighting there'll now be two different light set ups fighting one another, a low quality original game one, and the new one
So it's been turned off, we're trying to figure out new ways of making the neon happen though
Oh yea that's pretty cool, better than it being baked into the textures but I guess we're replacing them anyway so it would've made things a bit easier

We fixed this issue already in the proper way, disabling vertex color on every texture that doesn't use it. Only, it is not present in the last public release

I cant tell where you can get it, but this mod is compatible with the 1.2 USA version of the game if I'm not mistaken. If you have an older version (like I had) you will have to update the game. I'm affraid I also cant tell you how to do that either.

The "rough_only.usda" file doesn't alter the color and lighting of the scene. Its purpose is to modify the roughness values of the objects in the scene. If you're experiencing issues, it's possible that something might have gone wrong in the process.

i see, that makes sense (I dabble in game dev myself, don't know much about RTX remix but your explanation is logical). Is there anything you can think of outside of that that could cause the lights to be turnt off in most of the world then? If not I might just remove RTX remix and install it again

i had it working without the reflections but once I saw the reflections were now possible I wanted to try it. Then at first (yesterday) I was unable to start the game at all (would just crash to desktop instantly)
Then today I tried it just to see and it did start but the lighting is just way different than what it was
it misses that "reddish" glow
most of the map is completely unlit 😅

I've started playing more regularly and noticed the game hangs about 80% of the time when I look back and about 60% of the time when I reset the car. Why could that happen? I'm playing in ultra perf dlss on 2080 Ti, and the performance is pretty stable overall

Nah, i have that same issue on a 2060. Screen hangs and goes dark for a second when I look back and then i can see things loading, thought it was "normal" cuz I was instantly looking at a direction the pc hadnt calculated RT yet.

The detailed map, hud, and unlimited seem to be the most useful.

Yeah I noticed that too. For some people, it just doesn't work at all
And I haven't seen a single fix that works for everyone

should be feasible, the installer would have to verify that there is a working NFSU2 installation in the selected folder (and patch the game if it's not v1.2), then add the basic/necessary scripts like WidescreenFix, use Binary (I thought it was called Hypercooled but that's the map editor sorry) to auto-install any potentially included mods like Unlimiter and the HD UI, and lastly plop in the RTX Remix files
