Ford Racing series (mainly FR2 & FR3)

I currently do not own an RTX card due to financial issues, but my acquaintances in the FRC server have proven that Ford Racing 2 & 3 are bootable with RTX Remix (mainly in the Portal version), and are making further efforts to make the games visible on the open source version https://youtu.be/0CIJ4oSD5Os (footage of the Portal version running with it)

This is about the best @wheat cape got it looking on the Portal version before deciding to stop and wait for a more official release of the tools

Do you know how they managed to get the game to open without it being a tiny box in the corner of the screen?

It also looks like there are a bunch of Vertex Shaders used by the game, quite probably why none of the world is being raytraced properly.

Hmm ok, I'll give that a go. I was using DXwnd, but that seemed to stop the overlay working

I could see the remix menu but not click it

that's the portal version

where it kinda works

but with the open source version the cursor doesnt move

My cursor moves and if I hover over items the tooltips show up

Just clicking doesn't do anything

Alright so this game is kind of an ass to get working but here's a quick guide

Download and extract DxWrapper
https://github.com/elishacloud/dxwrapper/releases/tag/v1.0.6542.21

Run dxwnd.exe as admin
Right click and select Add
In the Main tab, add the FR3.exe file's location to both the Path and Launch fields and make sure Run in Window is selected
You can also select No banner and tweak the window size to your liking
In the Input tab, select Hook dinput8
In the DirectX tab, select DirectX9 in the DirectX Version Hook field

Click Ok and run the game by double clicking on the new entry on your list

According to 7ndrew, 0.2.0 now completely breaks FR3, every update has been less compatible with a game that seems ideal for Remix's needs

Game used to work on portal and 0.1 remix version, later i just get that message

It is hard to say what's wrong just from that error message. The best thing you can do is report it as a github issue along with logs.

v0.2 all the way up to latest v0.4 still does not boot according to @hollow otter

surprised we haven't posted in this thread for more than just FRC to see what little progress we tried to make lol

I'll install Remix tools myself sometime after Windows gets reinstalled, something stops DxWnd from working in the first place so I can't window-ify the game for FR games to have that prerequisite

there is a dedicated FR Community server but we haven't touched Remix in a long time

I tested FR3, seems to be working again with the latest runtime (1.2.4)

the mouse is pretty much unusable ingame, i don't really know what causes that
