#Last version = memory usage leak

Wonder if there’s a way to just downgrade the LSP
Yes i have this problem too.. but how i can downgrade?
Go to windsurf download page and check fo prévois versions
Ok thank bro
Do you know why when I use GPT-5.2 or GPT-5.4-mini (medium), it consumes a lot more of my daily/weekly quota? It didn’t use this much before, but now it’s worse and runs out much faster.
Try the GLM model. I find it quite effective for code editing. But you have to be rigorous in its implementation and verification. Work in short, simple tasks, and progress step by step. Focus on what you need to do and you'll last the day.
Hey everyone! We're investigating an issue causing high memory usage in the Windsurf language server and would love your help gathering some diagnostic data.
Please follow these steps:
1. Download the language server binary
- macOS:
language_server - Linux x64:
language_server_linux_x64
(Links will be shared below / see attachment)
2. Find the path of your currently running language server
Open the Output panel (Cmd+Shift+U) and go to the Windsurf tab. You'll see a line starting with Starting language server with command: – copy that path.
3. Replace the binary
- Close Windsurf
- Move the existing language server binary to a different location (as a backup)
- Place the downloaded binary in its original path
4. Run Windsurf and capture the profile
After restarting, search the Output for [PROFILE-DEBUG] and send us those lines.
Thank you so much for helping us track this down! 🙏
Thank you Edal
When I start windsurf, it is so laggy than i cannot navigate on menus.
But I can do it on previous version. Is it ok for you?
I need you to do it from the version that gives you memory problems
To be able to detect where it comes from
I'm so sorry , I tried several times but I really freeze with this update. I can't give you these informations. (Mouse and screen really freezed).
I have to wait , I'll receive more RAM , maybe I could do this
Don't worry, let's see if there are more users who can try it. We are also trying to replicate the error to fix it. Thanks anyway 🙌
This is truly the height of absurdity. My job is UX and debugging code, and I can't even debug my own machine, lol. 🙃

Hello, is there a debug version for the windows LSP aswell? I am getting the same issue, its at 4gb right now. all processes add up to 10gb right now and its still rising.
I'm going to ask the team
Same issue from windows, do you have a language server file for win11 ?
When Windsurf is launched disk usage and ram usage raise up to 100%
I’m going to try to get the file so you can debug it on Windows
Hi again,
I inform you that I'm still experiencing this spike in RAM and NVMe write activity in the latest version.
Unfortunately, I can't help diagnose the problem because it spikes too abruptly and freezes my mouse.
Do you have an update planned?
Try to downgrade, that's brain-dead supports couldn't help you
even with 64gb ram machine, i can't have a consistent experience, keeps crashing
trash
Im sure they have the data already from other reports and are working on a fix
It'll just take time
Any update on this issue ?
Windsurf is uninstalled on my pc. This is unacceptable, unusable since the last update, and it's starting to drag on.
My setup crashes and freeze., language_server_windows ramps up indiscriminately, increasing RAM usage indiscriminately., Ram : 16Gb > 32Gb > 64Gb = same things.
I've been using windsurf for some time with the language server disabled, and for some reason, I just found it was working again.
It seems as if the issue has disappeared?
I noticed how to supercomplete just showed up which was how i found out lol
Seriously ? Still no fix and no reply from support 😢
We have a potential fix coming soon. In the meantime, there's a temporary workaround that may help: try renaming your .codeium folder to .codeium.bak (or any backup name).
Note: This will clear your conversation history, but it should stop the crashes.
Infortunately, I can't use windsurf anymore since some weeks.
I’m using an older version and it works fine for medium to small projects, but it struggles with the large ones
We released a potential fix in the latest update, please try it!
I will do right now
So far so good, hope it lasts
