I am working to try and retarget the animations from the animation lite pack onto another generic model, i followed the tutorial a few times and am unable to gain a result. I feel as if i have coppied over the correct bones but when i press the play/loop there is no animation for either. Could you please let me know if there is something crucial i could be missing or making a silly error? i have set the translation weight to 1 for all of the bones as well.

Hi there, as you can see both skeletons have different initial poses. This will result in a serious retarget error, make sure to use the T-Pose from the Pack on the arms model for correct retargeting
how would i do that, as in i know the animation you are referencing, but how would i make the hands actually use that file instead? - UPDATE I FOUND OUT HOW DONT WORRY 👍
update, i got a working model using a mixamo swat character, however for my game im going to be using a humanoid character, which i convert to generic so that i can use the lite animations
is it necessary to use all of the bones of the model you are copying from, ie all the fingers thumb -> pinky, since i am using a low poly model which only has thumb, index and a large middlefinger
it says NONE for the bones, but they are selected when you inspect them
nope, you can use only needed one. BTW there is should be a SYNTY retarget profile included as a demo, you can use it as a reference.
when you say synty reference, the profiles that are there have nothing within them, ie they are like this, so how could i follow them?
No, this won't work. This profile specifically retargets from Mixamo to Synty, the FPSPlayer is not a Mixamo rig, it's based on UE4 Skeleton. You need to create a new profile for UE4 -> Synty retarget
cool, so ive done this so far. I am using a synty character and ive changed it in the model settings. I think the model doesnt like being converted from humanoid to generic and was wondering if there was a better way of converting it or if i simply would be better off getting all new generic characters (just making sure since i already have purchased synty humanoids before).
Yeah, just converting the model won't do anything for baked animation clips. You can try using the Humanoid Baker addon for Retarget Pro, a member of our community created it specifically for baking Humanoid clips

i tried finding a way to convert the humanoid to generic as the animations were for generic, but using the retarget pro addon that samson mentioned it works perfectly for the humanoid, so i dont have to fight with it and find a way to do humanoid -> generic
Masha'Allah, So Retargeting FPS animations (Genaric) can be working with Humanoid now ? Genaric To Humanoid ? We tried to work with humanoid and the retargeting didn't work out with us so we had to convert our characters to genaric that caused us extra load with different features.
if we can use the new animations with the original humanoid character this will save ton of times!
