NO rotation
The gun felt like it only had up, down, forward, and backward movements, with no rotation, as if it were stuck to my hand.

That's fine, open your animation, attach the weapon to the ik_hand_gun and share a screenshot here
Okay, I guess you are parenting the gun via a socket to the right hand. Go to the Recoil Data asset and modify the Pivot Offset property, until the recoil looks alright

Exactly - your pivot is offset by default, so tha's why the recoil looks strange
near the weapon center

i debug the hand_R location and recoil offset location . still wrong
The pivot offset numbers are huge, try tweaking them. The next patch will include a debug draw for the recoil pivot
