I often find that I want to idle in sectors where my I can defeat enemies--but not the boss--that eventually force me to auto retreat as my shields cannot recharge in time. As this cycle repeats, I am eventually pushed back to a previous sector. Auto-advancing will push me to a boss that I am walled by and prevent me from earning drops. I think there's room for an AI option or QoL addition that keeps me in these sorts of sectors.
#Advance Option for "Stay in Current Sector"

or at the beginning of the sector.
@lofty heart If you have Auto Navigate AI upgrade, you can get this behavior already 😊
Go to Sector Data, then select the sector you want to go to, then Navigate Here. Ship will stop immediately upon entering the sector
@alpine wharf No, I need an option for Ai to return the ship to the beginning of the target sector on his own after retreating.
Navigation only works once
Ah, then I misunderstood you. My apologies
just for my understanding:
is it realy worth it to grind "a few enemys" in a higher sector compare to constant grinding in a lower sector / a few distanz back ?
if u have shield problems, have u tryed to swap the mile stone to have lessen CD before recharge start ?(go down up to 0.8sec)
are u constant "face tanking" them because your not kill them fast enough/ after a few minutes? your shield go down? <--- have u tryed to use auto shield recharge skill use ?
general u could tank them if delay was not there ? <-- have u tryed to use continues shield ?
u 1 shot enemys but they have to high range / can attack u ? <-- tryed to get higher range for your weapons ?..
atm, yes the AI retrier if you "cant" survivel there. that is fully normal behavier. so you try to grind in a sector where u "cant" normaly survial so far i understand it.
with a very few expetactions higher sector grinding a few kills than die is lessen "income" compare to weaker enemys. "constant" grinding.
so in short. u want to have a "fix" butten to AI.
for example you are now at distanz 1250 than press this butten, and if you "move" from this distanz plus or minus, the AI will travel back to your selected/fixed position at 1250 distanz.
Yes, setting a "fixed" distance to keep the ship at is really the target behavior I'm suggesting.
As far as if it is really worth it, I suppose that's a matter of playstyle. I haven't done the math for what is optimal, but an example case where this feature is better than going to a previous, 100% survival sector is for farming shards.
Access to shards is restricted to enemies by sector, and some shards make significant difference, which is usually when I find myself wanting this feature.
The thought occured to me while grinding improved Salvage shards in 24A
This is also far more significant before you get the ||void beacon|| since that increases the steady-state murder gains significantly vs. before that having to wait between waves to get XP.
