How to enable text boot log? (`abroot upgrade` failed)

After running abroot upgrade and rebooted to the new root, the boot splash screen hanged for minutes. How can I enable or switch to text boot to see the boot log?

You can do that with "Esc", unless something is wrong and freezing the screen.

In this case it's probably gdm, which is a known bug in the latest version.

Yeah the boot screen froze about 5 to 10 seconds after the drive is decrypted, pressing Escape key doesn't do anything once the screen froze.

I can kinda switch to the tty environment (via alt+f1, alt+f2, etc.) but those environment also seemed frozen and didn't accept any user input

But does this mean that it unfroze itself after a while?

I haven't had the opportunity to wait long enough until it unfroze.

Nah I had to force shutdown and reboot into the B root (praise immutable distro)

Update: it hangs here (I rebooted into the A root which were upgraded)

Can you also provide a guide (if available) to revert the A root back?
