I have a problem with .desktop files. Both the ones created by apx export and the ones created manually (copy-pasted from the web) are not displayed in the app list.

How is it possible?

Oh, maybe log out and login. Not sure if this fixes it

I already rebooted multiple times. In particular, I am having trouble with manually installed Firefox.

I installed it according to the steps on the official Mozilla tutorial: https://support.mozilla.org/kb/install-firefox-linux, but substituting /usr/local with ~/.local.
I am using the firefox.desktop file that is linked in the guide. Oddly enough, it worked for a while, then after a reboot it stopped working. I reinstalled it from scratch (after deleting everything) but nothing changed.

No idea, can you ask this in #1023245426385760267 instead to get a faster reply.

Is there a reason you installed it manually?

I do install some things manually like Tor, but there is tor launcher (official) for the same. In the case of Firefox it really isn't necessary.

Vanilla OS is centered around untraditional package formats, installing something manually can only introduce issues
