omg that is so cool itās made with bread dough
(i was searching online about it and i need to forward recipe to my sister asap
)
i donāt think i am familiar with coarse sugar
maybe is not as common or maybe i never noticed it before but iāll pay closer attention next time i go to the supermarkets š«”
recently i learned about a kind of sugar called āmuscovadoā
i didnāt know about it untill i saw it used for a recipe my sister was making
so many good ones
idk if i can pick
sometimes i like pies that are a slightly unusual version of a popular pie
like i had a pear blueberry that was slay, and usually my mom does strawberry raspberry rhubarb and i really like the addition of raspberries
or a very specific cherry pie
omg or a chocolate pecan pie (although it would not be my favorite pie, it was a big step up from regular pecan imo)
i love pie

so many good pies š„§ as there are numbers in pi
/silly
pear + blueberry š š« seems so interesting, i never though about the meeting of the two flavors before, iām intrigued a lot
i also never had rhubarb to my knowledge
as a kid my parents made this pear blueberry crisp that was really good and that made me want to try the pie
tbh i think pear + blueberry + streusel/crisp topping is enough, the pie shell is fun but it doesn't seem as 'important' for those flavors to have the shell
i think iāve tried pecan and / or pumpkin pie at a thanksgiving but i donāt have vivid enough memories to remember if i might have had both or which one of them

streusel / crisp is like crumble ? /gen
i think it's like butter and flour and sugar but some have oats or nuts
like the topping
there is a whole pie world out there i had no idea about
/pos
i usually prefer a streusel to a second crust on top
but maybe that's just because i often eat pies with a streusel
biased results
i think the closest thing to a pie concept here is crostata, but usually cakes are a lot more common
crostata can be very very popular so i think maybe it can still be a āstrongā pie representation
that's interesting /gen
crostatas look really interesting/tasty /gen
This reminds me of a pie like thing that I wanted to make 2 years ago when I read "Le Dieu du Carnage" because they mentioned a pear š calfoutis
(well, they didn't only mention it) I didn't end up making it and completely forgot about it...
This is making me really want pie at 8am
so far apple pie is leading the data
š
very random but i need to share, i was looking at my bird of the day and listening to the sound⦠the sound waves look like birds
to me it looks like a lot of ducks floating š¦
also the author of the sound aka my bird of the day
Omg this is so cool!
Such a cool thing to notice!
What a beautiful bird!
that is incredible
yes, i agree

compared to some of the other birds iāve been getting ever since noticing about this feature in the merlin app, todayās one has a lot of sounds available to listen to: 16 in total and they were recorded from so many different places
something i find both cool and interesting i noticed is how much in the bird world they like to use the adjectives inconspicuous and conspicuous
could be a way to categorize all birds probably, theyāre either really one or the other (the first time i encountered the adjective was when i was reading about the orange andean bird during birbfest)
@vapid vault My dad saw wild geese
slay
OMG I CANT WAIT FOR THIS DAY WHEN I SEE THEM
I wish I saw them too š I've never seen any except for that one second that I saw one fly away in Werchter

itās by a brand that gifts calendar amd agendas in january ans usually always have nature and birds things themes. this year they also included the little like story format usually they just said the name of the different birds, landscapes, plants and insects etc
ooo those are nice !!
are the april birds oystercatchers? /gen
ohhh these are stunning!
yes
i just noticed this year the common thread is seaside nature
usually they have the explanation at the beginning but this year was at the end
is specifically beaches and cliffs
there is like a poem at the end that explains amd connects all the months. i donāt know how i didnāt notice before
that's so cool!!
iāve made another discovery
apparently the illustrators has an instagram and i just saw there are some of my favorites from previous years
seagulls; robin; kingfisher and peregrine falcon from this yearās February
ooh those are all so nice
i have them on my walls
(except the peregrine falcon one that is still in the calendar )
if anyone else might be curious the illustrator name is: alfonso goi

My dad sent this article in the family chat
Quite fitting after all the cabin talk haha. Is this a thing?/gen
www.bbc.com/travel/article/20260330-the-easter-crime-wave-sweeping-norway
Yes! PƄskekrim is a big part of our easter
They even have a kids version each year
oh yes!!! i dont fully remember how it became a thing, but i think it had something to do with a person trying to promote a crime book around easter? and he did it in the newspaper! bookstores also heavily promote crimebooks before easter!!! last monday when i bought a book an older lady bought 3 thick crimebooks
Yeah, they wrote that too in the article
So interesting!! Woah
Transporting weather instruments in a little shack back to the university after my field trip
LMAO
i was doing so well last night but now i keep making mistakes

you have a rogue 6 i think
everything else seemed correct
woah
i tried a 6x6 one this morning that was already very hard, this is so impressive
Iām so puzzled on how this all works š
it is sudoku but in addition to the normal rules, you also have to match the sum in the smaller boxes! so in the bottom right, the digits have to sum to 10!
here's how it would look solved (i think)
||so another example: in the top left, the digits have to sum to 13. 2+7+3+1 meet that requirement||
Ohh ok thank you Kendall!
I just giggled at this. They know how to make lesbians buy merch hahaha. It is really cool merch too I have to say, but with the free carabiner
I can't believe you get a free carabiner because you couldn't buy one at the show š i wanted one so bad
same

Oh no, lesbiant !! š That's so sadš
I originally put this in the going outside again chat but it fits better in here; here are some pictures from the eclipse that happened 2 years ago. As you can see the traffic getting to and from totality was completely overwhelming, we were in the same spot for hours on the highway. But during totality it was just absolutely amazing, the smell of the air is indescribably fresh, the birds start getting confused and fly all over the place, and it gets chillier and windier. Really awesome experience!
Approximately 30,000 people crammed into one tiny village where I saw the event

Snow squall!!
i have a very random question: how do you refer to this object?
like the name in the language / area and iām also wondering if and how much it is culturally common (?) idk if iām making any sense
is it for clothes? /gen
i will start: we call stendino and is very very very common, i think is almost certain every household has at least one.
yes
clothes and all kinds of things washed in laundry stuff in theory, very versatile
i think i would just call it a clothes drying rack ? a lot of people have dryers so it's not extremely common
interesting!! /gen
also for example here itās the opposite, is much more rare people have dryers
i call it a clothes horse!
we have like 3 lol
this is such a fun name
š“ /pos
wasrek (wash/laundry rack)
I call it an airer
I just realized I caught a UFO on camera like 5 years ago š
If thatās a star and not a ufo itās still cool cause stars are usually not that āflatā
Definitely not a plane/aircraft
airer! although ngl for ages i just didnt refer to it in english because i only knew the word for it in spanishš
whatās the word for it in spanish? /curious š
tendedero!
sort of like hanger
this has been very insightful /gen
and fun? idk if it makes sense but is interesting find out things about everyday items and how theyāre called in other countries / if are common or not
also some things can also have multiple names inside one country alone
apparently stendini isnāt universal in italy can be also called stendi panni; stendibiancheria; asciugabiancheria;
i prefer stendino / stendini (plural)
depending on the region the name depends, but around here we call it un Ʃtendoir (a hanger)!! some others call it un tancarville which is just a random word lol
Wäscheständer⨠We have two of them and always use them in summer/when it's sunny to dry clothes!
thereās a dead girl in the pool
Pesto, can you swim?
i went to a craft market and they had soooooooo many cute things but unfortunately a lot was expensive (
) so i just got this journal with a cover!
omg cat button
so fun
Omg this is stunning
omg that is adorableš
this is very random but i found this while cleaning my camera roll and itās about the painter Munch and the fact he mostly ate plant based food, i found it interesting so iām sharing here
i took the photo at the munchās museum last summer so there is double text of norwegian and english

I just watched Leith Ross' 3 months without screens update...It really makes you think
i love them so much
it's so insightful and also super admirable to see a musician who technically has stuff to promote do this
Yeah definitely! Like, that needs quite a lot of commitment.
And then again (no, that's not really the right expression because that sounds like I think what they're doing "isn't that hard" or something which is definitely NOT what I'm trying to say), but they are maybe at a point/position in their life where they can make such a thing possible. Not that it's easy or something and I think they actually addressed this in their first "article" about the project as well. But I feel like it would be impossible for me to do this with e.g. Uni. Of course one could also reduce screen usage, but I feel like, yeah, idk what my point is. But it does make me think a lot. Especially because I have those moments where I'm like "I want to throw my phone away, this takes up way too much of my time, my attention span is probably worsening and so on" more and more often. One of my friends has removed almost all of the colour from their phone and I think I will try that out too! And then there's still that stupid instagram thing...like, I'm so glad that I deleted Tiktok, I really only missed it for like 5 seconds ever since...So yeah. It's really impressive what they're doing!!
wait thatās so sick

i noticed there are some letters images that stays the same (i noticed G stays same for example) but for other letters there are many multiple options available

this is stunning
i have just found out there is an annual european seagull screeching championship
Where? When? How?
takes place in a belgian town amd there were seagull imitators from 15 countries compete ( source reuters video)
oh IMITATORS hahahaa I giggle
I've seen that on TV when I lived in Belgium

It's insane and very fun
i can imagine /pos
And people had very different interpretations for the outfit haha
Some went all out realistic and some just threw something together that was low effort
everything about it is honestly so impressive /pos
Yes! The people also sound SO realistic
it is honestly impressive because i can imagine it would require a lot of practice and dedication
and like have somewhere when one can practice
becuase screeching is loud etc
added a function to my bucket list of things
In 2025 the EF-5 drought ended with the Enderlin Tornado, an internet friend of mine, Alex, took the famous photograph of the tornado at its peak intensity
Alex has become, at this point, one of the best tornado chasers in the world
He has āinterceptedā hundreds of them since the beginning of the 2020s
This is Alex's website if anyone is interested
he is going to be on a Discovery Channel tornado show
On April 26, 2024, a major tornado outbreak struck parts of Nebraska, Iowa, and Kansas. Numerous strong tornado violent tornadoes were documented across parts of Nebraska and Iowa with major damage reported near Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska and Minden, Iowa.

this one is crazy
todayās bird of the day is too pretty not to share here too
italian name is gruccione
has very nice soundings calls too (in my opinion )
omg amazing
i like that
it can also go by the names: gaulo, grottaione, merope (this connects to his bird family), and grucciòlo
i got curious about the dutch name and looked it up but it is just bijeneter
which is a literal translation of bee eater
i like your word more haha
in spanish is called āabejaruco europeoā or also just āabejarucoā
is very interesting look up / learn animals name in other languages. some i always remember about dachs 𦔠and waschbƤr š¦ because of blueberry (/pos)
ooo that has such good colors
the colors of the bird are giving discord levels colors /silly
(the blue like mods, the hemingway orange, the green from the first levels, etc)
I saw this bird at a museum
Wait, didn't I even sent you a picture?/gen (I'm unsure if I did or not) But it looked so pretty (unfortunately not alive anymore thoughš)
@ornate mesa It was indeed 300'000 items in the lecture slides as well (Source: LA times from 2014) I'm guessing that's the same thing that you found when you looked it up.
us already having a crisis over 3000 and its MORE!

But still...even if it's a third of it...
yes i also saw the la times

@ornate mesa @vapid vault
omg soo cute
AWEEEE adorable
i can't believe in just 10 days my best friend is going to be chasing tornadoes
im a little worried for him, there have been a few intense storm chaser incidents over the past few days. thankfully no one getting in serious trouble but they've been just outside of some violent tornadoes (like 100 yards or less away from the storms). i think Justin will stay safe and not be stupid, he's had good judgement on all his chases. but im still worried lol.
justin has reassured me that he's gonna stay as far away as he can from the storms while still getting a good view of them but idk, everyone says that then ends up getting insanely close
he's going with some friends too who are lowkey into "getting the shot" to go viral so i hope he doesnt fall into the trap of peer pressure

that is such a good haul !! everything is so cute !!
i saw this old ad for a stamp catalog at the transit museum lol @kind hill
omgggg thanks for sharing this!!!
this is so cool actually
did you know that humans are the most abundant species of primate? there are no other species of primate with as many individuals as us.
a primate is defined as having larger brains disproportionate to all other animals, hands that can easily grasp objects, and all primates have the ability to climb trees
The Great Thunderstorm of Widecombe-in-the-Moor in Dartmoor, England took place on Sunday, 21 October 1638, when the church of St Pancras was apparently struck by ball lightning during a severe thunderstorm. did you know that the largest worm in the world is more than 100 times larger than the smallest snake in the world

also, the largest bacteria species is visible to the naked eye
dont worry tho it only lives on mangroves in the lesser antilles so you won't see any bacteria randomly spawning
not sure about the other stuff tho but all the aforementioned things are extremely rare lmao
this belongs in this chat because i randomly search stuff like this

i'm up to the last section of my killer sudoku book
it's the "deadly" ones

Uh Oh
ive been stuck on a killer without having a single number for a day help
omg fun
can we try
oh please ā¦. even if u just find one number and tell me how you got it
i can move on with my day
i love killer sudokus
me too apart from this one
but sometimes itās genuinely just one thing iām missing thatād solve the whole thing
this one is living up to its name /lh
i fearā¦
mureek found killed by sudoku
yeah sometimes it is like that

kill the sudoku before the sudoku kills you
iām too tired to look further
but those squares need to be one of those who numbers. the 7&9s i worked out by the left 4 grids equaling 180
sorry i was slow i had to go on a walk
so long sorry ||looking at the top 3 rows i filled in all of the numbers that could meet the sum, so 8 would be 1+7, 2+6, or 3+5. those are in white. then in the top right corner, it should sum to 45. 45-14-6-12=13, so the remaining squares should sum to that. other numbers crossed out in pink/purpleish. the 8 now can have its options reduced, crossed out in green. for the top middle square, 45-11-21-6=7, so the remaining squares should sum to that. other numbers are crossed out in blue. now the only place where 3 could be in the top middle cell is the top row (highlighted in red), so i crossed out 3 in the other cells in the top row, and combinations requiring 3 to resolve the sum. this means that the 5 in the top left must use 1 and 4, as 2/3 is no longer an option. in yellow, i crossed out 1 and 4 in the row and cell, and combinations requiring 1 or 4 to meet the sum (4 and 7 for 11, 1 and 7 for 8)||
||something else to note: the 21 in the top middle has an option of 4+8+9 as a solution. if this was valid, the 11 would have to use 5 and 6 as a solution. however, this would mean the 6 in that cell would not resolve, as solutions require either 1+5 or 2+4. so, the 21 cannot use 4. remaining solutions seem to be 9+7+5 or 8+7+6. either solution using 5 or 6 means the 11 cannot have 5+6 as a solution. the possibilities for 11 are either 2+9 or 3+8. if it was 2+9, the 8 in that cell would use a 3, and if it was 3+8, the 8 would use a 2. 2 and 3 are "taken" so the 6 must use 1 and 5||
||eliminating other 5s in the cell means the 21 must use 6+7+8. 1, 5, 6, 7, and 8 are now "taken". the bottom left number in that cell must be a 4. this now lets us solve the 8, as 45-21-11-6=7. 4+3=7. we can also resolve a number in the right cell by similar reasoning. 45-14-6-12=13. 13-5=8. also, because the 6 in the middle cell uses 1 and 5, the 6 in the right cell must use 2 and 4. crossing out things in the row using 2 and 4 (and combinations requiring those numbers - 4+8 for 12, 2+7 and 4+5 for 9) means the 9 will need 3+6. eliminating those options helps resolve the placement of 6 for 21 in the top middle cell||
||tidying up yields this. i removed some numbers that we had solved for and combinations (11 must be 2+9, since 3 is already solved for). i highlighted numbers that can be solved. and the 3s for fun i guess. filling in those numbers helps resolve the 6 in the top middle as well. i also show the final version with those numbers filled in. hopefully this helps you solve the rest.||
sorry so long. idk if i explained well but hopefully yes
i SEE
this is a completely different approach to mine but actually that does solve things lol
i had a whole debate with my friend about this once
about the sudoku approach
interesting debate
so many different ways to approach a puzzle tho
he did a few sudokus in my booklet and left some half solved and i was going crazy trying to continue it from his notes
bc he also worked with writing down every potential number in a square and eliminating them
whereas i usually only take notes when there's 2 spots left for a number
interesting

ur approach has distressing vibes to me also but my way did not get me anywhere so
i giggle
surely there is a more efficient way to do it without writing as many numbers but idk how to explain it as well
āit is a three here because the vibes were rightā
yeahh they do help to understand your approach!!
even if its evil
however i combined your first steps and worms first steps and got a few numbers so now im feeling good
im back i finished it
a mere 1.5h
with both worms and kendalls first tricks combined

Check out this beauty of a double overprint from 1860s St. Vincent!!
