not for free no 😭
I LOVE THAT BOOOOKKK
first copy of hit me hard and soft acquired :Dd
I would get it on Friday but some stupid shit with the postal service and my vinyl was sent retour
nooo 😭 I got this one in person from a record store so maybe try that 👀
have anyone of guys read ' i hear the sunspot' manga
i'm planning to buy it should i?
i’ve read it a while ago! i though it was good :))
Really i usually buy like one shot but that manga cover is attracting me
since it's almost pride month i have two LGBT books recommendations for you:
Dear Evan Hansen
If We Were Villains
if we were villains killed me 💔 i am going to read dear evan hansen asap!
enjoy!
does anyone have any good book recommendations? read a few rlly heavy / hard books so needing something more light now
i like pretty much anything except when it’s purely romance focused, super high fantasy or horror/thriller
i should read dear evan hansen actually bc i love the musical songs 😭😭
it's good book, hope you'll enjoy it!
Earwig and the Witch (there's Ghibli movie based on it)
Winterhouse trilogy (a little fun mystery and cool hotel)
Little Women series in case you haven't read it yet
Waiting for Unicorns (this one was really dreamy)
Francesca Zappia's books (you might like aesthetic of her universes)
If y’all are looking for a good Musical with LGBTQ+ representation I could recommend The Prom, it’s about a young Lesbian girl named Emma, who lives in a VERY homophobic town, and she wants to take her girlfriend to prom, but because they don’t want her there, they decide to just cancel Prom
yes
let me check my notes app lol
but from the top of my head the noughts + crosses series by malorie blackman
nvm i just realised you said lighter books
i'll try find something with lighter themes lol
there's a book called graceling by kristin cashore that is somewhat fantasy/ romance and is a bit lighter
it has tense scenes like with the villain but it doesn't really deal with any heavy themes
but some of the scenes are a bit weird romance wise so maybe not
in case you start associating that book with me 😭
sometimes i lie by alice feeney
psychological thriller, it's gonna mess u up
it has a couple TWs tho
oh wait
i misread it
um
hmm, what about steal like an artist ?
I was just about the recommend a book that’s basically all of these except horror because it’s an easy read but then saw this xdd
i don’t think it’s purely romance focused but mostly
not almost everyone recommending exactly what marieke said she wasn't looking for 😭
it's so hard to find a light read
it is 😭😭 idm heavier stuff but occasionally i gotta swap it out
i only see it once!
oh it sent like 3 times for me 😭
Ok so it depends on what you like, wlw, trans, mlm or ace, so tell me what you want and I'll recommend you some books, also tell me what kind of plot you like
actually i'm interesting in everything, you can leave some titles so i'll check plot later and add some of them to reading list :)
One of my personal favorites is let's talk about love it's about an asexual girl who gets broken up with for being ace, but she starts to have a crush for a guy
And it's her dealing with being asexual
Last night at the telegraph club is a wlw book based in the 50s-60s I think (?
There's a wlw webtoon called always human , it's pretty cute
The membranes is a science fiction book with kinda asexual and trans rep, if you read it you'll understand the kinda ace
I personally love the membranes
If you want a nb manga there's boy meets maria it's pretty short but pretty good
she drives me crazy is a wlw book about teens in high school, enemies to lovers
If you want harder to read ones let me know
thank you!!!
i dont know if its been suggested but milk fed by melissa broder
where do you guys find all of these gay novels 😭 give me more
I normally go to an only LGTB+ bookstore in my city and they always have good stuff!!!
If you read in Spanish I have a lot of books for u
i go to my really big book shop with lgbtq+ section or look on tiktok for lgbtq+ books
yes pls
wow I've never seen a queer section in a book shop😔
barnes and nobles? thats really the only one i go to lol
I don't think they have that in the uk
have you ever been to the gay book store in london that one is so amazing
Las malas
no??

I need to go here next time I go central omg
Take Me With You When You Go by David Levithan & Jennifer Niven
Omg i just watched her new comedy show on netflix as fun as the other 2 i laughed my ass of TW: jokes about parental trauma and daddy issues sexeal jokes and mentall health issues jokes like anxiety and depression its really fun but not for every one so look at the tw
omg im going to london this summer i need to go their
yess definitely !! its walking distance from st pancras / kings X station :D
Has anyone listened to the gir Spotify studio recording?? (it's called Say it) djjdjsbs
https://open.spotify.com/track/2k6qMVHTTzR5tJDjf1855E?si=lT1jQ3LVSWWUCGjI6t4UMw

did any of you watched Fate: Winx Saga on Netflix?
@little blaze @obsidian sable @pale laurel@thorn tapir
yessss ofc
as a fan of the winx club when i knew there would be a tv series i directly watched it
me too! sad they cancelled it :(
Nope 😔was it any good?
it was!
Maybe I'll watch 🤭
enjoy, let us know what do you think about it!
I will! (I'll forget to watch it 😔)
i haven’t but maybe i stupid?
should *?
yass!
“i should watch this!” - girl who will never watch it (me)
it's okay :)
but sounds fun i love me some good nostalgia
it's so nostalgic but also a little darker than cartoon.
Oh it's live action??
yes!
Woahh
now time for WITCH ;)
Omg witch I forgot about that 😭😭
cool cartoon too!
does anyone know if the aristotle and dante book is good? :3
how good! i kinda bought it in a rush and wanted to know if i had to be worried but clearly not then :))
mean i had seen good reviews of it i just wondered if ppl here liked it too
i think it's a very nice book to read during summer, the vibes are really nice, the story is sweet
and there's a second volume after!!
it was really sweet i liked it too
i'm looking for mermaids themed books or sea vacation themed books. i need lots of cool sea shells, sea magic, oceans secrets and mermaid's tails!
keep in mind that i'm not a big fan of romance, please.
🧜🏻♀️ 🐚
deeplight by frances hardinge !! its YA fantasy :)
thank you! added to queue in library!
nvm my mum forgot the book bag at a cafe and we’re on a long train trip away from that city so yeah 🥰🙏
hopefully i can get it back somehow
or buy a new one 🙄🙄
bags secured!
SLAY
👀
anyone know of any non-fiction biology podcasts that go into anatomy or things like medical conditions or injuries and how they are dealt with ? Super into detail if possible?
Sorry I don't know anything like this 😭
Btw guys, would have any witchy/historical book recommendations?
witchy, yes!
Mousie yippie!!
i'll write them with original titles.
Zwei wilde kleine Hexen Cornelia Funke
Earwig and the Witch Diana Wynne Jones
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Lyman Frank Baum
The House with Chicken Legs Sophie Anderson
Room on the Broom Julia Donaldson
Howl’s Moving Castle Diana Wynne Jones
Practical Magic series by Alice Hoffman
do you have any cool witchy books recommendations @obsidian sable ?
Omgggg thank you!! Will look into it
I have one that is YA, it's called Wicked, I like it a lot
Lemme find the author
Ooh wait
It's The Wicked deep by Shea Ernshaw
i have it on read list! waiting for polish translation.
i have one but about vampires 🫣
Hey I can check that’s my thing
Oo yeah that’d be great, thanks!
idk if you meant historical fiction or not but there's a book called the apothecary's daughter by charlotte betts
and another slightly gay one called the testimony of alys twist - but this one bothered me personally bc (as vaguely as possible) the title just doesn't really make sense and the gay plot is a bit dissapointing
👀 what;s it called
Oooh interesting I'll check that one out!!
Salem's Lot by Stephen King
Any of the sciences really, just more factual than people talking about theory
👀 👀 it's going on my tbr
enjoy!
Absolutely obsessed—I’ve played through both games multiple times
Sameeeee
( my obsession of Ellie Williams is getting bad)
Thats so real
Ugh, same. One of the most compelling stories ever

i haven’t watched either yet but being online i always see stuff
the us one is an adaptation afaik
yes
but also i feel worldwide, the American one is more popular in pop culture etc (english people don’t come for me /lh

btw does anyone here would like to follow each other on letterboxd and spotify 🫣🫣
omg my best friend LOVES dps and she made me watch it and i cried SO MUCH
i'm obsessed with that movie too
especially since i love to read and write poetry too AND i love drama
i'm basically neil so it hit SO HARD for me
omg for me -as a future film student- its like the best movie evet
like i cry each time i watch it and for while it was once a week (i actually wasn’t ok)
awwww
TWINS!!
i’ve watched it two times and have cried both times. it’s too beautiful. movies like the old ones will never be made anymore
omg YES
the first time i watched it i cried so hard especially because i was also going through stuff with my mom not wanting me to do art as a subject, whihc is like the exact same as neil's parents not wanting him to do drama
agreedd!!
anyone watched something cool lately ? /gen (could be any type of watchable media)
I watched spongebob movie
truman show
which one? /gen
i love this film! /gen
||good afternoon, good evening and goodnight 💙☁️⛵️ ||

waynes world
📝
its quite sad that one
about a basketball player that started doing dr*gs
a very young leo dicaprio stars in that one
he was 20 yo or sth
cool! /gen
i don’t know how it flew under my radar all this time
/lh
90s films? /gen
yes
well i think excluding animation films because there are too many: Matilda; Orlando; Being John Malkovich; Notting Hill; Space Jam; ChungKing Express; i don’t know if i’m forgetting some tbh but i think it’s a pretty good list for now

i also just woke up, i’ll probably remember some later and be like “i can’t believe i didnt mention that one” /lh
also the truman show, and fight club i think i liked but i have been meaning to rewatch because i’ve only watched it once
The goofy goober one
oh cool! i think i haven’t seen this yet ! 🧽👔
YOU SHOULD
real!! mine too 🧽👔
i don’t have netflix
i think Gary might be my favorite but of course Sandy 🐿️🤠; Squiddy and Spongebob too
Gary is the best

i have a mini figurine somewhere
one of my prized possessions
i think it was a kinder egg surprise not sure tbh or where exactly its now but i love all the episode where there’s gary for sure

JEALOUS
i’ll try to find it today, and if it’s okay i’ll @ at you /gen /lh

i’ve had pretty much all my things packed in boxes for the past months so i have no idea where most things are
yes!! I love getting pinged

i am watching this movie right now that… i don’t even know what to say
it’s called “almost famous” and i have 37 minutes left of it
it is so brilliant. it is already easy one of my new favorites ever. it’s about this guy who is more or less a music journalist, 15 years old, and he hangs out with a rock n roll band back in the 70s, getting new friends and going to concerts
god i LOVE it. if anyone here has watched it lmk!!
update i finished it :3
oh slay!
i haven’t got a change to watch it yet but i’ve had it in my watchlist for a while!
you totally should watch it! :3
Hiii
Percy Jackson is my literal childhood!
Hey, one of my favourite books called 'the girls i've been' should be on Netflix, but it doesn't exist in my country as far as I know.
Is it a good movie?
Have you read the sequel book? I currently own it, but haven't gotten around to reading it yet
No, I didn't and I didn't even know there was a sequel😂
I think it's pretty recent, I only saw it in Waterstones a couple of months ago
But I'm putting it on my book wishlist
It's called 'The Girl in Question'. The blurb makes the book seem really interesting when I get around to reading it
Okay thank you so much
Does anyone know if I can also send quotes from books here?
yes you can!
Tysm
I FOUND IT

gary in all its glory
i have no idea how it ended up where i found it, but i’m glad it’s not lost anymore
ill move to #1238526983743475853 because technically trinkets arenr media /gen /lh
🫣
i literally finished the sequel last night oh my god
its so good
GARYYYYY
gonna spend a lot of time in trains and buses next month so looking for new book recommendations!! looking for lighthearted reads as i read too many heavy books and now im tired !!!
i don’t like romance books much which is what lots of light books are im afraid
Would also like some light books for the same reason hahha
the only light ones I have are a few romances or children's books lol
Sophie Anderson's books and Ben Guterson's Winterhouse series
@little blaze I have a few book recommendations if u want, all my fav ever tbh haha but are u searching for a specific genre or anything?
no im pretty open to anything as long as it isn’t horror or crime focused !! 🕺🏻
Ofc!!
Maybe not apocalyptic either haha
But still have recos!!
There's the wicked deep by shea ernshaw and it's about witches!! The story basically that a few witches were executed during the witch hunt and they come back haunting the city they lived in by taking the appearance of a few girls who kill men
Another book I loved is felix ever after by kacen callender, it tells the story of a black, queer and trans teenager and the challenges he has to go through! Though it talks also about a love story and if I remember well you're not a big fan of romance whoops
And then I generally recommend all john green books if u want lighthearted readings!!
oooo i’ve read this one i really liked it!!
i don’t mind love stories as long as it’s not the main/only focus of the book
Oh wait have you read howls moving castle?
:o i always forget that those have books that’s such a good idea
Omg this is on my reading list
Also if some of you are interested in stories of women during the world wars, there's a french author called catherine cuenca who writes really good books!! Her novels were translated so u should find them in english at least
There's one abt a girl who's studying to be a doctor during the first world war, really nice
(It's fiction tho but still interesting)
Oooh cool what's it called? I'll probably read it in french
do you ALSO speak french????
Moss, what- ?
U speak french??
Hi there
what’s it called !! will look it up
Idk if @little blaze you like fantasy but I can recommend the 13 1/2 lives of captain bluebear by Walter Moers it's a chill story of him travelling. Its even got a Dutch translation De 13 ½ Levens van Kap’tein Blauwbeer
yeah im studying to be in translator with it! French English and German :)
Amazing omg
You have french besties here if you need !
Woohoo!!
I do need to practise speaking french casually and not in an academic setting because I don't think I can casually speak 😭
so you speak french english german and dutch ???
that’s so sick
hahaha ty it's my only useful skill lmao
That's so impressive
I just want to translate books 😔
I cannot find the name of the book in english so that makes me question if it was translated or not
But in french it's called le choix d'Adelie
By Catherine cuenca
Ty!!
There's also another one called celle qui voulait conduire le tram, it's about how women were taking men's jobs during the war!!
I have so many book recommendations but not light-hearted whoops
lmaooo me too
I read a lot of fantasy series in the past if yall are interested in knowing!!
I also read so much abt Anne Frank
yes I can always add more to my tbr
i brought a bunch of my old books to the bookstore and got $100 in credit to spend so i went a lil crazy lol
i still have $40 in credit to blow through if anyone has recs
still on the hunt for cleat cute and dont want you like a best friend
six of crows or the first book of the grishaverse trilogy if you haven't already
also i've heard i fell in love with hope is good
ill look into the series! i tried reading six of crows for a bookclub and i couldn't really get into it idk why
if you enjoy a good girls guide to murder id get the second one!!
guys i just finished your book of selected poems by emily dickinson and I REALLY liked it, does anyone know a poetry book similar to it?

ooh score! i didn't know there was a second!
there’s four!!
omg
tbf the beginning has quite a few character introductions that are a bit much to keep track of but it gets better later on since some of those characters become irrelevant later anyway lol
I'll def try it, idk what it is about fall but to me there's nothing better than a good mystery while the weather is getting colder
btw if anyone is looking for it! it's super cheap at sams club they have it for $7.50
theres 3 and a prequel novella!!
is it just me or is netflix suddenly missing the episode where || bart bass dies|| in gossip girl??
or am i remembering the series wrong??
i saw that episode ?
i'm on the episode where it's the morning of and they're having the funeral
does the part with || blair and chuck on the roof and bart falling off come after??||
bc so far i haven't seen that part and they're just suddenly acting like he's died without that scene happening yet
i'm probably remembering it wrong tbh we'll see when i get further in the episode
Apparently there’s going to be a Minecraft film and the trailer just came out
i wonder how i have not heard anything about it till now but it’s a time in which a lot of games turned into movies (more than before i think)
hai, i'm looking for some good french movies! coming of age or horrors would be the best.
uhh i dunno if this could be labeled as "coming of age" but i think it is in some way.
one of my favorite movies (that is french) is called été 85 (summer of 85). i love it very much and if you haven't watched it yet i recommend it!! it's about well, a summer of the year 1985, and it's about two gay guys that fall in love. it's very beautiful and i highly recommend it.
i haven't watched that many french films apart from that one, not that i can think of :)
thank you!
that's type of movie i'm looking for.
i haven’t had a chance to watch it yet but horror and french: les yeux sans visage.
i’ve had it in my watchlist for years + i remember it being mentioned in one of my film classes too
or “les diaboliques” (french horror) but same as above i haven’t got a chance to watch it yet do i don’t know much
thank you - i'll check them!
adding this to my list too
📝
in one of the courses i took, the professor was a huge horror fan so as a genre it was largely mentioned and focused on
i had to get myself more into it a because of the many horror films that were in the exam list
i have finally been influenced
i just hit play on gilmore girls

(it took me awhile but thank you marie i guess
)
what did gir post
also what do you think so far
i remember in the past years, she mentioned it a lot on if stories and interviews
i’ve always known about it but never got to watch it before also it’s so autumnal

i like it! i’m on episode 3
and plot twist my sister is watching it with me
(i’m using her pc after all but she’s locked in
)
😭moments where you almost unintentionally end up starting a series with a sibling/ cousin are great tbh
oh yes they can be
/pos /lh
it has become a rarer thing now but we used to do this more often
Anybody have a good lesbian book recommendation ?
check #1250462642015830066 there’s a lot listed there !! :)
Thx !
guys! anyone here that has read the book 'hell followed with us'? well, it's going to get a movie adaption!! :D
this was written on gaytimes' insta: "The Matrix director Lilly Wachowski will co-produce an animated adaptation of Andrew Joseph White’s 2022 fantasy novel, Hell Followed With Us."
@little blaze i'm reading Deeplight which you recommended me a couple of weeks ago and i'm really getting into it. story is more and more interesting with every chapter.
oooo fun !!! it’s been a while since i read it, maybe i should reread !! but glad you’re enjoying it so far :)
maybe :)
yes, thank you! your recommendations are the best!
has anyone read the secret shanghai books by chloe gong?
my last 4 watched

3 rewatches and 1 new one 🪲🧃🪲🧃
i’m rewatching new moon rn and i just reached my favorite scene

i need someone to read miss peregrines with me for a daate.
Beetlejuices! did you like them?
i love those books :)
HOORYAYY
yes!! this was my 3rd time rewatching the first one and it was probably the time i enjoyed it the most
🪲🧃
what about you? /gen
i love both new and old one. Winona is wonderful in both movie :)
my ratings are all solely based on vibes
this one was really interesting! my fav was second one.
i agree!!
can’t wait to rewatch the new 🪲🧃
strange, i haven't seen any of this 🫣
me too!
have you watched a league of their own the serie? /gen ⚾️
oo i haven’t. i watched it because it was on tv
Same!! Hollow city and library of souls are my fave, los cuz Millard gets a lot of pages and I love milllard
oh cool! if you stumble upon it it’s a cool one, it’s like a remake but different
he's great character and also idea of map and travelling throught loops based on fairy tales is so fire.
my fav character is Emma, basic but she's so wise and elegant and kind.
I hate how the movie swaps it around though. I had watches the movie first (ghastly I know) and then the book and then watched it again and I don't like it anymore, THE TWINS WEREN'T EVEN IN THE BOOK ONCE!!
i still like movie because i'm big fan of Tim Burton but yes i wasn't a fan of swap too. twins were actually funny! do you like Florence song at the end of the movie?
I'VE CRIED TO IT A LOT OH MY GOODNESS I love Florence. But also a part of me thought that it was hunger instead- like I can remember it being hunger by Florence but I guess it wasnt
Tim Burton is amazing though I can agree with that
same here! when i was reading looks i was listening to whole Florence discography because it fitted plot for me somehow and then they announced release of this song for a movie - i was like: did i manifested it?! that was magical!
glad we agree on this ✨
i gt a lil surpised it was i wish you were here instead
lovely surprise then :)
i love the brothers in hollow city though
and sharon (?)
sharons def one of my faves
i think in first four books all characters are likeable.
yes, definitely!
i read the books and then watched the movie trailer and really didn’t like how they changed so many things so i haven’t watched it. maybe one day i will
i think it's still worth watching even changes. i enjoyed a lot.
i just randomly watched this and found it so cool

Two brothers find themselves lost in a mysterious place called the Unknown, a place where long-forgotten stories take shape around them as they search for a way home.

i have yet to watch over the garden wall even though it’s been in my watchlist for years but this maybe just made me realize i really need to watch it asap ! /pos

omg i've seen fanart of this but i never knew what it was called
i think i’ve randomly seen things about this over the years but i don’t know the actual lore / fandom things
is anyone doing spooktober film challenge ? /gen

|| silly sticker combo because lurking creature could easily be a spooky film title or the plot of a lot films ||
maybe!
any particular film you’re looking forward to watch this october? /gen
ohhh! a lot, i have whole list as every year! what about you?
me too!!
started working on my spooktober 2024 list a little earlier than usual and i hope to plan it somewhat better to fit more movies
included also fall vibes films and i try to do “first watches” for the most part but i hope to fit also a couple of my favorites “october” films
i’m also thinking of adding a dr jekyll and mr hide adaptation to my spooktober because i think it would be fun to do in honor of ugly side
i've saw The 6th sense, It's Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and Heathers - all of those are amazing movies!
about Fall of Usher House - i read short novel first so after first epiosed i stopped watching it.
that's a nice idea, i like it :)
oh wowzie, right! good point!
about my spooktober list this year. i didn't plan it much because i'm never fully able to watch all 31 movies but yes, in october i always watch spooky movies. i'm going to watch new Salem's Lot on october 3rd for sure and later i'll see!
i'm horror enjoyer and i love finding less popular movies which i really adore now. if you would need any recommendations feel free to ping me.
i have also been thinking of reading poe’s original stories before! i have to check but i think i have them in this copy

yass, Poe is just one of the best writers ever!
the great pumpkin is one of the rewatches i’m doing
🎃 also really looking forward to the others you mentioned as well, especially heathers
i haven’t managed to do the full 31 days yet either
i think i’ve heard something about the one coming out on october 3rd, but will need to look it up
awww, that's sweet! it's one of my fav halloween cartoons. second one is Winnie the Pooh Halloween movie.
yes, it's coming out october 3rd on MAX. directed by screenwriter of IT movies! hope it will be a slay!
that’s so lovely!! 🎃 🧡
for me cartoons probably scooby doo
i've never seen scooby doo.
just added it to my spooktober list

neither the cartoons nor the live actions? /gen
yay! hope we will enjoy!
both
fascinating! /lh /gen 😯
why? by choice or ? (if i may ask )
i don't know honestly. i was always a disney kid and never wanted to watch anything but Winnie the Pooh.
tbh fair, and same i loved Winnie the pooh and Disney as well
sweet :)
if you ever stumble upon them, the 2 scooby doo live action (2002 & 2004) are really nice
thank u :)
i haven't heard of this
what is it
pretty much watching spooky films every day of the month of october 🎃
i usually do it more casually but i’m sure there’s a lot of actual challenges/themes /templates
and i try to fit in general films that feel like fall and are seasonal just so it all balances out
oh that's cool
yes!!
🎃
I made a schedule with my boyfriend!!!
Super boujee, high quality editing here
It was hard making a list because we have seen ALOT of horror movies last year, throughout the whole year
My letterboxd is: Miloukoe
For anyone who's active on there (:
nice!!!!

also oh wow! the nightmare series
i only watched the first one because i had to for a class but it messed me up badly
although one scene i found admittedly very funny
best wishes on your spooktober challenge 🎃👻🫡
is it that scary😭
i wouldve thought it would be a bit more tame since it's elm street
then again i havent seen a lot of elm street
it was for me because i often experience || sleep paralysis and very bad nightmares in general ||
i remember for years i successfully and actively avoided it and then it was on the list for an exam
i literally waited just weeks before the exam to watch it because i really didn’t want to go through that
i hope it wasn't too bad for you <3
Elm Street is slasher so it's also quite funny. first part is really good but second, fourth and fifth were boring and awful to watch.
Beetlejuice, Psycho, Scream, Herditary and Jennifer's Body are so good! some of best spooky movies ever made.
oh, i'm so sorry :(
luckily i’ve encountered more films that are nice and good than traumatizing ones
✨
i’m trying to decide on which film to pick for today to start spooktober, do y’all have any planned for today or are you going on vibes? /gen
ngl i forgot
ive mostly been waiting until im emotionally recovered to start the haunting of hill house lmao
oh that’s a good one!! /pos

also that’s so smart, to emotionally prepare for it
i went in blindly when i watched it (not so smart but i did end up loving it)
i dunno where to ask this but does anyone here use the website "goodreads" for books? if you do, i'd love to add u as friends there bc i just fixed up my acc a bit to start publishing reviews on goodreads hehe >:3
tag me if u answer!!
i love goodreads
have you heard of storygraph? its similar but it has pretty graphs with your stats
hey guyyys does any of you have fall books recommendations? I'm dying to read a fall mood story, but no romance
i can check!! what are you looking for?
i had autumn books to recommend but they were all romance
same i was abt to write a list
oh
it's okay go on i'll see if it's too much romance for me hahaha!!
still very curious abt them
but i understand that everyone has different preferences ofc and so on!!
'legends and lattes' which is fantasy/ romance(?) but more chill/ less action
also 'the no girlfriend rule' but i'm not sure if it's actually autumn related the cover was just giving autumn vibes (it's about a queer group who play something similar to d&d)
i have these written down as fall books in my tbr list:
- the castle (kafka)
- a discovery of witches (deborah harness)
- dead poets society
- gallant (v.e. schwab)
-lanny (max porter) - the binding (bridget collins)
- imaginary friend (stephen chbosky)
YAYYY DPS I LOVE DPS!!!!!
OMG IT'S ONE OF MY FAVS OF ALL TIME TOO!!
gallant is such a good fall book
ive watched season 3 twice
yea i finished it yesterday!
Yea I watched it! (10/10!!!!)
saw this fun halloween films template
🎃
this is too hard - i can't pick only 5!
sorry! /lh 🫣 and yeah i know
although there’s some i still haven’t watched on this template, many of these were my childhood 🎃
@neat gale i just saw this and thought of you
i read about it yesterday! if he won't cast Lulu Wilson as Carrie White then i refuse to watch it.
i wonder how long it will be until a casting announcement
i finally saw the original carrie last year for the first time, so now i’m even more excited

have you seen only original or all versions?
hope it will be quicker than with Revival - since he announced adaptation of this book there's no more news about it 😔
i’ve only seen the original version so far! (i think)
with Sissy Spacek?
yes!
it's good one! but to compare you should check 2oo2 and 2o13 versions ✨
oh yes, i do plan to!
i think i saw the 2013 version banner recently on streaming
let me know how did you like it!
i will
🫡
i watched the 2013 version last night
👀
i’m glad i watch the original film before because it was cool noticing all the different style choices between the two. also being so far apart in time, it does indeed make new ways of exploring the story in current time.
it did felt exactly like a 2010s movie thou, but overall it wasn’t that bad
who was better Carrie in your opinion - Sissy or Chloe?
i think overall in the movie, sissy because it felt more believable during the whole film. tbh the prom scene they were both really good in both || except i didnt like the part when in the 2013 version when the part as the bucket was dropping they did a bit too much, but it was a directorial choice like the rewind and seeing it from different angles it went on for a bit too long so idk but only that specific choice because the rest was really nice and Chloe looked amazing as the embodiment of rage|| maybe the 2013 version felt more fast paced somehow, but Julienne Moore and Chloe were really good and believable in their characters
a bit all over the place (what i said) but idk i’m even more curious now about an adaptation in current times and maybe the format of a tv series will offer more opportunities to develop a story that’s paced right idk 🫣
which one did you prefer?
i like your opinion!
honestly i this the most true to book adaptation is 2oo2 version but visually i prefer 2o13 version (i'm big fan of Chloe's acting so it's quite natural). i wish 2o13 version was longer and more like book but i'm happy with results. about 1976 version - i like it too but in prom scene Sissy looks quite scary for me instead of ||looking like girl who got her revenge with satisfaction.||
i'm curious about new version (especially if Flanagan will be responsible for whole script and if he will cast Lulu or McKenna - he worked with them before so pleaseeeeeeee). it might be similar to 2o13 version when it comes to modern times but maybe it will be more brutal as book was?
it would be great to see more of ||Carrie's childhood||.
thank you!
oooo interesting! i’ll remember that when i’ll watch the 2002 version 😯
also same, i have been a big fan of chloe’s acting
i’ve read somewhere about brian de palma reaction of the adaptations and it was something along the lines of the modern adaptations made “mistakes” he tried to avoid
also read people saying that in the book the || pig 🩸 choice was intentional as an analogy to carrie’s body size and a reason for the way we’re treating her badly and bullied. || but i haven’t read the book so idk
the way technology and social media cultures has evolved since the early 2010s makes me think it could be even more brutal

i agree
do you have any link to this article?
yes, it's all true. actually Carrie was debut novel by Stephen King and it devids he's readers a lot. you love or hate Carrie. i'm in first group. it's also one of his shorter novels so i'm sure you can read it before tv series will be out.
sadly, yes 😔
i’ll try to find the sources! 🫡
some i’ve read in passing and some was probably from the professor, carrie and specifically the prom scene was analyzed during a class course
but maybe now there’ll be a lot of new commentary resurfacing with the flanagan news
that's so interesting, thank you!
i've also read about King's inspirations for Carrie's characters. i'll try to find it for you.
true, true!
thank you!
of course ✨
i have yet to read a King’s book
but since he’s a really popular author it’s easy to stumbled upon commentary on his stories and work in general
i’ve mostly seen the films adaptations of his works and of course what’s in the “pop culture”
which one have you seen?
thank you!!

no need to thank me, enjoy!
i just realized i actually haven’t seen that many yet but: shining; carrie; stand by me; and gerald’s game (but i only watched it at the time because of Flanagan directed it)
from this list i only haven't seen gerald's game. i love Stand by me - one of my favs!
slay!! and it’s such a classic and truly a good film 💙
i also really like the poster
so so true!
Any maze runner fans here??🥹🥹
does anyone have good horror movie recomondations??
what kind of horror - folk horror, slasher, horror with monster?
@neat gale horror with serial killers like scream or with psychological stuff like the black phone, or trillers that kind of stuff :))
oki!
i just finished Timecut on Netflix - it was so good!
you should also check Scream MTV Series, Totally Killer, The Grudge trilogy, Thanksgiving and Freaky.
@neat gale thanks! ❤️
moving this one to #📚books-movies-etc :D
Does anyone here know a series called A Series Of Unfortunate Events?
Currently rewatching
@wanton knot
(Oh how I love being in a dead fandom)
I LOVED the books! I'm pretty sure my mum has first editions
My school library has all the books, but I prefer the series. Though they left out a lot of things
I never got to watch the show tho, cos we don't have Netflix
True. But sometimes I can't be arsed
Eh fair
I can send you a link to a good one
As long as you have a VPN and adblocker
I've heard good things about it tho
