Hi!

I will be real with you here - the drums are a hot mess/out of sync which naturally is making other elements sound/feel out of sync.

If these are live recorded drums then a click track and some more practice will be the ticket to getting this lined up better. Cheers

Drums are way off. At first I thought it was on purpose, and I think that maybe if you left the drums off-beat at the start it and then got them on beat for the rest of the song it could be a nice touch.

#

Overall this sounds more like a jam session than a song per se. There are some nice elements in here, but it doesn't seem like a song with a clear theme or discrete sections arranged in a cohesive way.

i listened to it again and im not hearing anything wrong with the drums, could you give me a specific timestamp? thanks

Theres no direction its like you sat someone down who's never played a drumset and told them to play along with whatever they want

broken phoenix
#

ill have to listen in a sec

broken phoenix
#

sorry im not hearing it

pearl ravine
#

You can’t hear the drums?

broken phoenix
#

no i meant i dont hear anything wrong with them

pearl ravine
#

To give a timestamp, 2:00 (and many others)

#

3:31

#

3:42

#

actually 3:42 until 4:00

#

6:40 they start on time then go out very badly

#

7:00 - 7:15

#

Really the whole song is out of time but there are a few seconds every minute where it seems like it could work

#

J.K. Simmons would not be proud

The arrow in the screenshot is point to the metronome - if you're not hearing your drums out of sync/tempo then you need to spend a lot of time understanding tempo/timing.

If you have your BPM set and turn that metronome on and listen to your drums they should sync nicely with the click track - I bet if you listen to that you will hear whats wrong very quickly

broken phoenix
#

the tempo button is not of use anymore because im not using the grid properly

#

you have to record and practice to a metronome or your music won't impact the listener

broken phoenix
#

im not hearing it, idk...

tender mountain
broken phoenix
#

the metronome is out of sync

#

but like i dont use the grid

#

so that makes no sense

tender mountain
#

That's the point the others were trying to help you with 🙂

#

By all means be freaky but for the love of all that is music please write it in time

#

Nobody will like it

#

Im sorry but those are mostly hard and fast rules

broken phoenix
#

im not hearing it

#

this is making me angry ngl

#

i might be delulu

tender mountain
#

Yeah I think so

#

If you can't hear it I quite literally am unsure where to suggest help

#

Im scratching my noggin

#

Well

#

Just look at the drum midi and compare it to the grid

#

try clapping to the beat of your favourite song

#

you'll notice how the drums are in time vs yours

pearl ravine
#

Quantize ur drums to the grid for a start

broken phoenix
#

i dont hear anything wrong with the drums, please respect that, thanks

tender mountain
#

No worries

#

Out of curiosity do you record midi drums on a real electronic kit or program them on midi kits?

The drums are totally out of time with the rest of the track.
