is there a reason the drums at the start are misaligned? i can get the effect that the 'band' is trying to play in sync, but it's just not happening correctly
i feel like more of the elements could be dreamy for that real soft/post-rock feel but that's subjective
there's quite a few bits of guitar, drums, or bass (all at separate times) where they sound like they're playing their own thing instead of trying to play the same song
#first soft "rock" project

i'd have a look at your composition on paper / in piano roll / however you can get a good look at it and try to have parts coincide a little more
the transitions are also quite messy and out of time
however: there are some good themes showing up in each instrument
i'd just like to hear them play nicer together
i'm curious what, if any, is programmed here
oh i didnt notice, could you tell me where exactly?
so better harmony? in general or at a specific point?
everything is midi
The timing of everything, really
The drums sound hand played in a bad way, like they're completely unquantized to no click
The harmonies are fine, but there's disjointed melodies at some spots
I can probably send some more specific feedback on that later, heading to work right now
A good example is 1:30, the bass "melody" that suddenly emerges feels kind of random compared to what the drums are doing
i see yeah
maybe extended notes would fit better
hmmm how would i fix the drums? without quantising them?
no stress & thanks!
you should still respect the grid, unquantized feel is a lot more subtle
recently im always going off grid 😭
ill have to do it 1 by 1 maybe?
is there a certain effect you're going for
like drunk beats, hand played, or something else
no im just following my soul
