they all work in FL but for reason not in ableton...

Are the VSTs you're talking about:

  • VST2 32-bit
  • VST2 64-bit
  • VST3 64-bit

?

VST3 64-bit

dense magnet
#

Have you installed them to the system default folder on your system?

summer thicket
#

some are 32 bit

#

VST 3

dense magnet
#

There's no such thing as 32-bit VST3 plugins, only VST2 32-bit plugins.

Ableton Live hasn't supported 32-bit plugins since Live 10

summer thicket
#

in fl studio it comes up as VST 32

dense magnet
#

What version of Ableton Live are you using?

summer thicket
#

not vst3

summer thicket
dense magnet
#

Live 12 does not support 32-bit plug-ins

summer thicket
dense magnet
#

Because 32-bit plugins are ancient

summer thicket
#

but good

dense magnet
#

They are ancient, inefficient, and prone to stability issues.

#

Important note

Note: Ableton Support does not provide any technical support for issues using converted plug-ins. If you're running into issues, contact jBridge support.

dense magnet
#

That's your only option to use ancient plug-ins within Ableton Live 12

summer thicket
#

what about VST formats?

#

not Vst 3

dense magnet
#

You can use that plug-in, you just have to make sure it's in the correct folder and make sure you've enabled VST2 plug-ins within Ableton Live.

summer thicket
#

i didnt have custom vst2 folder enable

#

appreciate the help

If you have Max for Live in your Ableton Live edition, you may be interested to know that there is a modern remake of Camel Crusher within Max for Live

Bear in mind as well; if you're going to use VST2 plug-ins and you experience crashes in Ableton Live, I would personally be looking at those plug-in instances as the culprit first.

Are you using an ARM based Macintosh?

#

I'm 90% certain the reason why you're only seeing the AU versions is because you have the Intel versions of those plugins installed.

#

AU plug-ins can run in Rosetta mode without the DAW needing to run in Rosetta mode (which is confusing, I know)

#

I'm not sure about that, I don't use Bitwig Studio.

If those plug-ins end up actually being universal binaries, I'm not sure what else would be causing the issue.

#

Is this Decibel? https://process.audio/en/products/decibel
If so, I just downloaded the latest version and checked the binary it installs — it is a universal binary, so works for both ARM and Intel based machines.

#

Yeah so as long as you have the latest version installed, it should be the universal binary

#

If you're sure you have the latest versions installed, and that you have VST3 plug-in system folders enabled, you could force a rescan of your plug-ins by holding Option and then clicking Rescan

Does anyone know anyway i can get Ableton to ‘not find’ the Apple Audio Units? I dont use then and would like to delete or hide them if possible, any insight would be greatly appreciated 👍

jade ruin
#

I think that will hide all of my audio units though, its just the apple ones i wish to hide (or delete)

#

thanks anyway 👍

dense magnet
#

Oh right, sorry I didn't understand that you specifically meant the ones supplied by Apple. I think you only get those if you have installed Logic Pro.

#

I never installed Garbageband on my machine, so I wouldn't know

#

what do you class as the ‘correct folder’?

dense magnet
#

Have you checked the Vital.vst3 file to make sure it is actually a universal binary?

#

Can you show a screenshot of your plug-in settings screen from Ableton Live?

#

Live doesn't scan for VST3 by default, for some reason. You have to turn that on explicitly.

This works for me; create a plugin folder and install your plugins to that folder. When you open ableton, browse the custome folder with all the installations there. I hope it helps
