To do this, simply use better headsets with better sound pickups such as the M32, Commander A for the best Noise Reduction and GS2 for the best Sound Pickup in the game. This will make you able to hear slow walks, doors and footsteps in farther distances but other than this way... it is not possible, at all

ABMH , you could either bring really stacked gun with low value gear or good armor with low value guns. Everyone is mostly T3 players and below since they decide to bring good guns, there are occasions where you may meet t5 players with like really cheap guns (MP5, etc). Used IMTV samurai and the cheapest T5 sound blocking helmet will be around 40-50k, you can spend the rest on whatever gun. You’ll definitely have the gear advantage over other players try to kill them before they kill you. Also make sure your gear value isn’t over 80k, you can take mags out of guns to lower value since they are also secured.

You can bring a balanced gear, where 40k of your budget (i.e half of the equipment value) towards the gun, and the rest towards armor. Or you can bring offensive style combat where you put nearly of your gear value towards the gun (like an mk or kitted out fal). Or you can bring a defensive style play where you put most of your budget to armor, (i.e T5 vest and T3 or possibly T4 helmet).

Remember in secure ops you don't lose the gear that you are wearing or the mags that are secured inside your rig or bag. You only lose uncased ammo, meds, provisions, and throwables.

Abmh: as jt says, just 40+ meters, if you got troubles gauging distance you can set a marker on the map to see how far it is distanced to you so you're able to gauge the distance easier

Depending on your build you can use it defensively or aggressively. Usually long barreled M4 is for medium range engagement, and short for short range engagement. And for a medium barreled one it's a middle ground i.e Medium-Short range. Also the scope affects the build Playstyle, 1x to 3x is usually for close to medium range while 4x and beyond is for medium range. Generally speaking you're gonna want to hold angles when using M4.

Well, I haven't seen how you play so I can only give tips on it. Generally speaking you want to improve as much as possible with each loss. Learn why you die, and try to fix it. Don't just hold angles, be aware of your situation or surroundings, as for now I want you to learn through cheap kits in lockdown or even normal maps. Either using Tactical kits, or cheap throwaway gear. Avoid forbidden as for now and focus on learning the map in lockdown.
